Token Yankee Guy
Well, this is the first piece of news I've heard in a while about the proposed Utopia theme park/movie studio/performing arts college/resort in a while. http://www.norwichbulletin.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20050320/NEWS01/503200301/1002 PRESTON-- Utopia's four proposed theme parks would become the Northeast's leading family destination, surpassing the nation's third most visited theme park -- Epcot Center -- and generating more money each year than the region's two casinos, its promoters say. Utopia officials project its parks would also match revenue with Six Flags Theme Parks Inc., the nation's second-largest operator of amusement and theme parks. If approved, it could open as early as June 2007. But Utopia's Chief Financial Officer Joseph Gentile says his four all-weather parks cannot be compared to existing theme parks. After all, what other park also boasts movie studios and a performing arts college? You can read more at the link I provided above. My take on this, I think Utopia will be a great addition to New England, plus it will help boost tourism in Connecticut, and give us New Englanders another park to visit. But the June 2007 date seems a bit of jumping the gun. [Edit] I found another article that is an interesting read about Utopia. It talks more about what each of the Utopia parks will provide. http://www.norwichbulletin.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20050320/NEWS01/503200302 [/Edit]
