Title pretty straight forward, When was the worst time you had at a Theme Park?

 

Anyway the worst time I had at a park was last season at Fright Fest at SGADv. It was 40 degrees out, and I just wasn't in the coaster riding mood.

Probably HHN about 5 years ago, before my enthusiast days.. All the rides and houses were over an hour wait. We got there 2 hours late thanks to some friends that were late meeting up with us, and by the time we got done with our first house the coasters and Dr. Doom had closed for the night. We only had time to wait for one more house, and then it was time to go.

 

I thought HNN was the most not-worth-it event ever, but that was before I discovered the express pass. 5 years ago I dont remember seeing anything about express passes, although even if there was my job limited my funds back then.

Mine was probably at Fantasy Island when most of the rides were shut because of the wind. I didnt think it was that windy.

Easy one there... Six Flags America's "Grand" Opening in 1999

 

I remember April 30th (day before) I was happy to go to see what new things were done to the park...then on the 6 o'clock news they said the park would not be open may 1st and 2nd....the night before...crazy.

So May 8th was the big day...That place was so packed that you could not even move and the only thing open was Roar and another flatride for the first 3 hours...no places to get food either...pure madness... Jokers jinx opened at 2:00pm with a 3.5 hour line (1 train) mind eraser opened about the same time, 2 face never opened nor did wild one.....they were just giving away return tickets onyour way out....what a crazy day. I rode Jokers Jinx once then left (I was camped out at the Q ever since 11:00a)

Mine was probably at Magic Mountian. We were waiting in line for Riddler and some of the people in our group were complaining that they were hungry. So they got out of line and said they'd wait for the rest of us at the exit with food. Well we ended up waiting 2 more hours after that for Riddler, and by the time we got off the ride our group wasn't wating for us anymore. Aparently they thought that we had gotten off the ride and ditched them. They got angry and threw our food away and went searching the park for us, but we were still waiting in line when they thought we ditched them. By this time all the restaurants and food carts in the park had closed so we didn't get to eat anything. So everyone ended up being pissed at everyone else.

I can think of several days at Six Flags America that were pretty bad... the worst probably has to be during Superman's opening season, they closed the queue line off 15 minutes before the park closed because there was a 10-15 minute wait in the station. Several angry guests (myself included) asked to talk with the manager, so when she arrived she told us all to get out of her face and take our complaints right on up to the front of the park because she wasn't going to listen to it.

My last visit to SFGAdv on the the Friday before the Labour Day weekend last year, Kingda Ka had been running all week, and of course was not working the day I get there. The crowd was huge, it took 20 mins to get on Nitro even during ERT. I couldn't wait to get on the NJ Transit bus to get out of there and back to New York. It was so hot too, I rode Skull Mountain and Chiller most just to get out of the sun.

 

Magic Mountain generally offers the next worst park experience for me.

 

Hopefully Mr Shapiro will be improving the experience of visiting GAdv, and if he wants to charge $60 a visit all the rides better be up and running more than one train.

I wouldn't really say the worst visit but my second time to DLR, (The first time I actually remember going) we got separated from the rest of our group. This happened because we told my dad we were going to go on the Submarine Voyage and he told us he'd wait at the exit. After we get off, they were gone. Only me and my 2 cousins were together. After a half hour of searching and getting nowhere we decided to say forget it and just enjoy ourselves...which we did until park closing..We finally found the rest of our group waiting on Main Street as they were getting ready to talk to security to try to find us.

What sticks in one's memory may not always be entirely fair to a park. My most vivid memories of a thoroughly BAD time at a park are almost completely because of weather. My only visit to Valley Fair was one very hot & humid summer.

 

I don't remember the park being unusually empty of guests, but most all concessions/shops were closed, as though it were at the very end of the season and an hour from closing. A small thing like that, combined with the suffocating weather left a bad first impression.

The worst time I ever has was my first visit to SFA.

 

The second worst time I ever had was my second visit to SFA...

 

The year Superman opened, I decided I had to try it out and scoop up the other credits. The lines were ridiculous, the staff were extremely rude, and the nice environment a park is supposed to have just wasn't there. I gave the park another try a couple years later and nope... still the same.

The worst moment I've had at a theme park happened at holiday world at SRM 2003, everyone knows why, but apart from that the rest of my time there was awsome. And to be fair, I had a great time, but whenever you have an accident like that, with Mrs. Koch crying as she's addressing the crowd. We left in morose silence. That was a looooong 3 hour drive home for me.

The worst time I've ever had was at PGA last year.

 

They had two people working at the entrance, and they were acting extremely rude. Vortex was running one train, and opened only as we were leaving. Delerium was closed, so was the swinging ship, and about five other flats. The rapids and log flume were down, and it was a hot day. The place was packed too. Top Gun was only running the red train, and had the the first two rows roped off, and had a two hour wait, so we didn't ride.

 

Invertigo was testing, but never opened. Demon was also closed. Grizzly was running one train, which got stuck on the anti-rollbacks on the second hill, so they had to push the train up about five feet so it had the momentum to roll. It was closed when we left.

 

Drop Zone was running about half of its cars and had its overflow queue filled up. Psycho Mouse was the only coaster running more than one train/car. It was also the only coaster that didn't take five minutes to dispatch (Well, Top Gun took about four, but that's still slow!)

 

We left after ninety minutes, and didn't ride a single ride.

Time 1: Cedar Point 2005

So, I'm at Cedar Point and in line for TTD. Naturally, the line is huge, the sun is hot and of course, the fans aren't working in the queue. Being a complete tool, I forgot to wear a hat. After two hours in the line, I was starting to feel groggy. After going on the ride (which I enjoyed), I ended up passing out from heat exhaustion. I still managed to get in rides on MaXair, Wicked Twister, Corkscrew, Disaster Transport and Mantis before leaving though. So I guess it wasn't totally wasted. But I felt like complete garbage the entire day, ruining my coaster experience.

 

Time 2: Paramount Canada's Wonderland 2005

My roommate at the time told me she wanted to go to PCW for the day and asked if I wanted to go with her and a few of her friends. Naturally, I said yes. But what I didn't realize was how exclusive they were. I had known them a bit before, but they essentially shut me out of their group. It was absolutely brutal. What made matters worse was that everyone (roommate included) were French exchange students, so I barely heard any English at all. Although my roommate's screams on the Vekoma Boomerang were funny enough to hold me over.

 

Yeah...2005 was full of bad park memories.

My worst trip - SF Worlds of Adventure (aka Geauga Lake) June 2003. (FYI, I grew up in the area and the Big Dipper was my first Roller Coaster) It was hot and humid and SF had ripped out all of the drinking fountains. The 2 restrooms I used were disgustingly filthy and stank. The park was not crowded, but rollercoaster lines were 1+ hours, even on the Big Dipper. In 4 hours, we rode the flying coaster and the Big Dipper and then we left.

 

What a difference CF made, in June of 2005, we rode every coaster in 4 hours.

SFMW 1999 We got to the park at 12 and went on roar. My nephew wasnt tall enough to ride ao I had to ride it alone. After the ride my brother told me we had to leave because the park was too "Boring". Oon the way out of the park this dude tripped me and tried stealing my wallet. I grabbed it and ran. I went up to guest relations at the front of the park and asked for a refund and they saif "Did you ride anything?" when I said yes he said I couldent get a refund for my ticket. I told him about the dude who tried stealing my wallet and the dude just said sorry and moved to the next person. Wasted $32 for a 30 minute trip

my worst experiance is every time I go to disneyland. It is always packed beyond reasoning and I always end up having a bad time because of the huge crowdes. The worst of all is when I went for New year's eve. Biggest mistake ever.

I think my worst time at a park was at SFMM. We got to the park last summer, it was hot as hell and lines were so so. We get in line for Batman and the tunnel leading under the station smelt horribly of piss, which was even worse with the heat. My friend got so sick he couldn't ride, and I didn't feel too great after.

 

Next up was Riddlers. Line was at the bottom of the stairs and it took nearly 45 minutes to get us on. The ops were the slowest I have ever seen.

 

Finally we thought we would give Goliath a shot, after walking through a literal shower in the queue line with all the broken misters, I was nearly drenched head to toe, we get up into the station to watch the ops all fool around. It was a pretty bad day. We left after that. Probably two hours in the park.... What a waste.

 

 

At SFMW before I got in a verbal confrontation with one of the ride ops and he actually threatened me after he allowed some of his friends to line jump. It was great!

Worst experience at a park: Disneyland, May 26, 1995.

 

It was the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend, and I had never experienced the park so packed. Lines for Indiana Jones Adventure were staking down Main Street since it had just opened earlier that Spring. My party and I ended up waiting over 3 hours to ride. Needless to say, that was the high point of the day. Shortly after, my siblings and I decided to ride Matterhorn. The adults stayed behind, saying they would meet up with us at the exit. When we show up at the exit we see no consenting adults. We circle the mountain three times and still no adults. We end spending the next four hours looking for them. We finally find them in Main Street, not far from where we had queued up for Indy earlier that day. The experience wouldn't have been so bad (what child hasn't lost his/her parents at a theme/amusement park?) had it not been for the unbelievably rude crowds. I saw the ugly side of people that day, pushing and shoving, insulting one another for the stupidest reasons. It was bad enough for three lost kids to be exposed to all that, but at DISNEYLAND?! And I thought this was supposed to be the "Happiest Place on Earth."

i don't think i've ever had a bad time at a theme park, if there is any ride whatsoever, i'm happy.

The worst experience i had at a theme park was probably at SFDL, my mom and i were staying at the hotel on property and i went into the park shortly after we checked in. S:ROS was broken cause the ride ops didnt know how to get the second train off the transfer track and the mechanics took almost 2 hours to fix it. I ended up waiting there for about a half hour and went to go get credits on Mind Eraser, Viper and Boomerang. I came back and S:ROS was still closed, so i decided to wait in the station until they fixed it, about another 30 minuets. I got on the front cause there was no one in the station. I got off the ride and went back to the hotel for the night. The next day i woke up early again and went into the park. That day it was about 101 and everyone runs to superman, i go on it once, but they had shut down about 5 rows for no aparent reason. Since it was so hot i go back to the hotel and swim for most of the day until it cooled down a little. I went back into the park around 5 with my mom and got in line for another ride for S:ROS. Anyone who has been on this knows how small they made the queue lines and it was very hot and congested. About half way to the station the sucurity shows up and starts talking to this group of people and eventually escorts them out of the park. My mom already a little shook up decidedes to stay in line. A little while later we are almost to the stairs when the ride breaks down for a little while. Some people got off the ride, and while they are walking down the stairs these tough guys call them a p***y and the one guy turns around trying to start a fight. After about 15 minuets of trash talking and almost fist fighting security shows up and escorts them out of the park. About 20 minuets later, half the people in line leave cause they are shook up or just tired of waiting, the ride opens and i convinced my mom to sit in the front . Wich was the highlight of the day.

This was before we even had cell phones, so this wouldn't have worked either. We should have planned things better, meaning that if we got separated, we should have met at a specific spot rather than aimlessly running around wasting time looking for eachother and getting nowhere.

Batwing was running one train (the thing is designed to run THREE), S:ROS running one train, Mind Eraser running one train, Wild One running two but stacking horribly, Two Face was closed. Joker's Jinx was running two, but then the yellow one rolled back. They ran that train empty the remainder of the day. The Park was very crowded, and the ride op's and vendors almost seemed as if they were trying to make people mad by going extremely slow.

 

Looking back though, I enjoyed it much more than I would have enjoyed being in school that week.
