Jdprince45
Big pic update at screamscape. Many of the ride vehicles are visible: http://screamscape.com/html/dollywood.htm#2019
thrillrider
I'm not too familiar with Dollywood's Weather policy. Do they typically keep the rides open in cooler weather, particularly The Coasters? We're thinking of swinging by there a few days after Christmas, and wondering if it's worth it. fireman1000
The coasters stay open as long as the temps don't dip below a certain temperature for the hydraulics to work correctly but I'm not sure of the exact temp. I think in the 30's.
coasterbill
Here are the exact limits for each ride.
CoasterAuditor
Man I can't imagine a <10 degree ride on a drop tower.
Canobie Coaster
Drop Line's limit sticks out like a sore thumb and I love it. Six Flags New England could use one of those.
ytterbiumanalyst
I'm thinking that's a typo but it would be hilarious if it isn't.
coasterbill
I used to think that but it’s been there for almost a year now.
Canobie Coaster
Out of curiosity, I tried to find the most frigid day without rain or snow since Drop Line opened and I found December 31, 2017. The high was 30 degrees and the low was 17 degrees. The only two rides that opened were Blazing Fury and Drop Line (that Barnstormer thing has to be an error). However, Drop Line did close due to weather during the last hour of park operation. Even if it isn't quite 5 degrees, they'll run that ride longer than any other outdoor ride. December 31, 2017 I was there that day. Also - January 4th 2018 I believe was colder yet and it ran then too. Not sure it got out of the 20s. MidwestThemeParks
I find it interesting they list Barnstormer at 32°, but the Silver Dollar City app says it needs to be 38°for the Barn Swing.
pianojohn
The new no front for Lightning Rod.
coastered
The new no front for Lightning Rod. That is looking terrible. Hopefully this is only a temporary solution and will the park put that hotrod front back on the train after the possible problems are solved. Jccoasterfan
^ While at the park a week ago, I was told by a ride attendant that the fronts were taken off for refurbishment, which included repainting and such, though I’m not sure if this is true or not. Both fronts were laying on the ground underneath the transfer track.
Canobie Coaster
^ The one thing that makes me think it could be something more is the fact that they've already changed the fronts once. While it looks ugly in its current configuration, it's running and having the wide open front should make the front row experience even better. dstephe9
Yeah I agree. The new fronts were only on for a month or so unless those where only temporary and weren't working out. No need to refurbish those yet! I believe it's something more than that Sent from my ONEPLUS A6003 using Tapatalk
rebelrailroad
I rode in the front row last night. All I can say is "wow." Love the open feeling. I hope they leave the hoods off. Ride op mentioned a manufacturer's recall....
jarmor
So I finally got to ride Lightning Rod. First, I ALMOST didn't make as I struggled with the seatbelt. Held up the train and all but it finally clicked. RMC sure did humble my ass so off to the gym I go . . .
Too Fast For Comfort
So I finally got to ride Lightning Rod. First, I ALMOST didn't make as I struggled with the seatbelt. Held up the train and all but it finally clicked. RMC sure did humble my A$$ so off to the gym I go . . . Congrats on you deciding to get in shape. I think that you won't regret it and will be a lot happier with how you feel afterwards. My main piece of advice is to remember that losing fat is about 80% what you eat, and only about 20% hard work at the gym. Hard work at the gym is necessary, but you really won't see any results until you clean up your diet. Just my two cents. Happy to see that you get on LR. Jdprince45
Has there been any new clues for the passholder preview date for Wildwood Grove? I saw the latest update on Screamscape and it looks like there is a way to go. I want to be there for the preview, but I need to give some notice to work
TEDodd
Has there been any new clues for the passholder preview date for Wildwood Grove? I'd expect it to be like any other year. The day before official opening. If the plan is for WG to open with the park in March, pass holder day would be the Friday (Mar 15) before opening weekend (Mar 16). But no official opening date for the area yet, so just speculation. But that's the best bet for a pass holder exclusive. Any later date would mean controlling entry to the area separate from the main entry and that's less likely. Jdprince45
I had wondered about the March date but looking at the most recent pictures it doesnt look like they can make it bu March
carolinaman
As far as WG opening, we was told on the construction tour that it will open in May. Not sure when or if pass holders will get a sneak peek before the public.
Jdprince45
I may be wrong, but I thought a passholder preview was promised if you purchased the annual pass this year for next year
Dollywoodlover20
Just a random thought here. LR is currently Dollywood’s most intense/wildest coaster, really their star attraction. I wonder if we’ll see a coaster more intense than/wilder than LR anytime soon?
