Which game is more realistic - RCT2 or RCT3 ?

Obviously, I like RCT2 the most out of the three games, for the following reasons...

-Unlike in RCT3 and RCT1, there is basically an infinite amount of little details that you can put into parks. Granted you need to have some custom scenery to have really small details, but even without any, its just the most detailed game of the three

-RCT2 trainers are better than those in RCT1 and MUCH better than the little cheat code guest names in RCT3. Track merging, zero clearences, fast staff, reliable rides, and no park boundaries are all possible through use of the trainers

-To be able to build a good RCT2 park, you really need to be creative. One thing I hate is when RCT3 players use all this pre-made scenery and buildings in their parks. What's the fun in that? The fun of RCT2 is using odd scenery pieces/ creative ideas to create things. For instance, through use of those stupid path signs in RCT2, I've seen top notch park makers create things such as the Budweiser logo, the AOL logo, and Japanese signs using nothing but what you see on the key board.

Most people will think that RCT3 is the better game, and play it just because you can ride your rides and it's 3D, but the fact is that when it came time for RCT3 to be released, only a miniscule percentage of experct RCT players made the switch. RCT2 is the best of the series, enough said 8)

I don't have a favorite. RCT2 is great with graphs and stuff and is bright. Great staff and lots of small great details, Really like the Six Flags Premade Parks.

I like on RCT1 that you actually get something if you pass a scenario. you wanna getem all.

RCT3 has way better flats, water slides, peep cam and you can make a movie of your RCT3 park.

I don't have a fav. I play a diffrent one each day!

I only own Rct 1 and 2. I'm not sure i'd buy Rct 3 until I knew my PC could handle it's graphics 100%. I don't really like games that stall every 2 seconds. Apart from that, I really cant imagine Rct3 having the playability of Rct2, Although I admit the graphics are amazing and far superior on Rct3.

I've always thought that a double version should be released, in which you can switch between Rct 2 and 3 views. That way, I could build in Rct 2 and view and ride in Rct 3. Perfect!

....Better write to the software company!

The thing about 2 is it's an isometric view. It's a lot easier to make a building look better from farther away and not have to worry about any interior on a dark ride. In that aspect, RCT3 is more realistic. For which is better? I'd say both are good games. RCT2 is great for the big park feel where everything is spread out and you have different areas. RCT3 is better for smaller parks and with the amount of custom 3ds scenery is much better for details.

RCT2 can be very realistic, but on this site I never see real realistic parks.

RCT3 has ugly graphics, and sometimes rides are very cartoon-like...

RCT2 is the best of all.

I had to bring this up. Note that this (Liam's) post was made 6 years ago, but I just wanted to prove him wrong..

Now, I may be wrong, but do these look ugly and cartoon like? No? I don't think so.

Honestly, everyone has their own opinions. I'm on RCT3's side because it has smoother graphics, more realistic terraforming, and more than 2000 different CS sets to suit your fancy. You can practically do anything in it nowadays. There's tons of cheats, custom scenery, custom tracks, and a lot more to make it realistic. RCT2 is way more cartoony in my opinion.

It just depends who's on who's side. But RCT3 wins hands down for me. And also, this is just TPR. There is loads more sites that you guys probably haven't even seen that have a lot more realistic creations.

I really don't know who's side to pick here. I believe RCT2 is better, mainly because of the scenery. It limits your choices, but in doing so increases the creativity and imaginative spark. In RCT3, there's no challenge because everything is achievable without having to think outside the box. Also, RCT3 doesn't really give the option for fantasy building, while RCT2 opens the opportunity for realism, semi-realism, fantasy and more. However, RCT3 gets gold stars for it's realism. It has an amazing variety of coasters and continues to push the boundaries of realistic building. Oh and I think the graphics on RCT2 are just too good to deny.

Anyway, that's my opinion and everyone is entitled to their own. Whether it be in favor of RCT2 or RCT3 (or even LL), it's their choice and I won't argue with it (unless the reasoning is silly).

I agree that RCT3 can look more realistic than 2.

But... I don't like it near as much.

I don't like the peeps and figure eventually all the hip-hop fashions are going to be dated. (They look like Japanese cartoon characters.)

Another thing... I don't know why people are saying rct2 is 2-D... it is not, it just doesn't have as good a camera, but the images are 3-D, they have height, width and depth. (Your map image is 2-D...)

Some of the extra A-I... (like peeps being aware of the camera) is just a waste... get the bugs out of the basic game before you try and get "fancy" or "cute" with it.

When I first bought 3 I had a Dell 4100, circa 2001 with a pentuim2 and 385 meg of RAM. And it ran smoothly until I got up to a medium-sized park, and a large park it would not even display.

Now I have a recent dual core with 4 gig of RAM and that seems to be sufficiant to run it, although I have not built a large park with it.

Another thing... some of the scenery looks hideous like the bio-sphere or whatever hanging gardens, I'm not going to hang that ugly stuff.

Personally, I would have rather seen peeps scaled up about five times larger than they are in 2, I don't need to get in their face, the 360 degree camera is an improvement, that's cool, but I would expect that anyway.

I Looove the building designer and saver, they shouid have put that in 2 instead of the worthless "coaster designer" that can be sublanted by making your own park for it, so it really adds nothing. (I imagine they decided most people like the game for the coasters instead of the scenery and didn't stop to think that the coaster designer scenario is actually useless and a bigger hasstle than just making a park for it yourself.)

Here is a pic of mine...

Special exercise hills, a measuring line so you can tell dimension in feet and about $500K worth of stacked scenery to cash out and fund your coaster. Also, you can get peep interaction... it's far superior to the "designer".

I do like the lighting in 3 and night of course, I wish they would have put another add-on pack to 2, lighting, restaurant stuff, better signs, (more sizes, actual fonts) casino stuff, working doors. interior booths to sit at instead of just chairs (and a million other things, lol) An "Urban" pack.

(I don't like how in 2 pathway scenery is put on both sides... if not for that you could build stadium and theater seating... dumb function.

I had 3 a few days after it came out... eventually I lost it and didn't like it enough to go back.

But last month I bought the platinum pack and still barely played it and resumed 2.

It's like anything... they start out with something good, and "bright idea" it until it is ruined.

edit: Oh, and someone on the last page said 3 was too dark... I agree, it's like trying to build with sunglasses on, what were they thinking? The walls that are facing the light glare, the others are too dark to see...That's a huge deal-breaker for me.

Thx

I think that RCT2 is easier which is why it comes off as more realistic. It's easier to make things look good than it is in RCT3. However, I have to choose RCT3 as the more realistic game because if something is unrealistic, it can be changed with CS, CTRs, and CT. Peeps are really the only cartoonish part of RCT3 now. Tracks are realistic, trains are realistic, and scenery is realistic.

Honestly, this site doesn't give a good example of what RCT3 can accomplish. TPR is more for RCT2, not 3. Another thing is that people here don't have the most "amazing" graphics. There's a whole different community filled with astonishing graphics and realistic projects that a lot of you probably haven't even seen.

I'd say my park is pretty realistic and it's RCT3! Though, I don't have the best graphics.

RCT3 wins the vote for me. With CS, CTRs, CTs, CFR and all that good stuff, RCT3 goes from being more realistic than RCT2 to astoundingly more realistic. The example photos above proved that point.

Though, I do wish I had RCT2 because that's the game I remember from my childhood and it can be more fun without the annoying lag!

Rct2 because you have all those supports and scenary without all those confusing ctrs cs and all that stuff. Plus you have Six flags parks! And the intensity ratings are a lot more accurate in RCT1 and RCT2.Rct3 has un real elements!

What do you mean unrealistic elements? RCT3 Platnium has dive loops, and zero g rolls. And RCT3 has larger corkscrews. It makes bigger cobra rolls more realistic. I'm not sure if RCT2 has that.

In my opinion, those aren't unrealistic elements.

Heres the thing about this "war" of games. RCT2 is more realistic in my opinion because you can make good/very clean parks that are realistic and add some beautiful detail with in game scenery. For RCT3 to look realistic CS is pretty much necessary.
