It's such a massive downgrade in presentation from what we've seen Sea World be capable of.

Electric Eel. Journey To Atlantis (San Diego). Steel Eel. Great White. Texas Stingray. Ice Breaker.  All of these are coasters plopped onto dirt, grass, or gravel.

I think you're nostalgic for late-90s/early-00s Orlando SeaWorld.  That's when the original JTA and Kraken showed up and they're easily the most heavily-themed SeaWorld coasters chain-wide.

I'm just thinking even San Diego's Manta.  It doesn't have a lot, but it has SOMETHING.

Intamin track is now on site at SWSD! According to recent reports land clearing is under way as well. Another family launched ride on the way.

Do you have any evidence other than your words?

It's crazy that San Diego and Williamsburg are getting new indoor family attractions next year when the park that needs an indoor family attraction the absolute most is Orlando lol. I'm mean I'm not complaining about a new prototype B&M especially since both my kids are over 54 inches now but dawg, it get HOT in Florida. Something indoors would be nice.

I just watched another Emperor POV and I'm mad all over again.

I can't imagine actually being angry about this kind of stuff.

They have a rapids ride whose sole purpose is to drown you, bro.

That's the front seat of Journey's job....

Does it still submerge?  I saw a POV from a year or two ago and the boat didn't make a large splash anymore on that dinky little hill.  I remember it used to literally go underwater and the boat turned into a pool.

It doesn't like totally submerge you as far as I remember but it sends a solid wall of water down that bend that pretty much dumps over the front of the boat onto everyone in the front row, then drains to the back row on the lift so you feet stay submerged in the back row lol.

Thinking about going to SW for a day in a few weeks. What's the story with Tidal Surge being closed, and should I care?? I enjoy Manta and Emperor seems to be a nice addition.

You mean Tidal Twister? It's pretty objectively a bad ride (slow, boring, loud, and rattly) and nothing you should be concerned about missing. I've been there twice within the past year, both times it's been closed, and I don't feel particularly heartbroken about it. Emperor is short but pretty fun, and worth a visit if you're in the area.

  • Ride to bring awareness to threats facing Arctic sea life from climate change and global warming

SeaWorld San Diego is thrilled to announce that the highly anticipated coaster, Arctic Rescue, will open in Spring 2023. Joining other thrill rides at the theme park, Arctic Rescue will be the longest and fastest straddle coaster on the West Coast. This family-friendly multi-launch ride invites guests to hop on a snowmobile and launch at up to 40 mph on a chilly adventure as they race through the unpredictable arctic climate to help animals in danger. With its 48-inch height requirement, adventure seekers of all ages will enjoy the thrills and chills of Arctic Rescue.

SeaWorld’s coolest new coaster will feature a unique indoor launch station where passengers will start their journey inside of the Wild Arctic exhibit and launch outside straddling a unique snowmobile style vehicle. Guests will race through the Arctic and experience three exhilarating launches, each faster than the last, at 34, 38 and 40 miles per hour. The straddle snowmobilestyle seats allow for an immersive ride experience for each rider as they lean into banks and turns and glide up heights as tall as 30 feet along the 2,800 feet of track. Manufactured by Intamin Worldwide, each train will hold 16 riders in eight, two-person rows.

“We’re continuously looking for ways to add new experiences to the park for our guests and this new coaster is a great addition to our ride line-up and a perfect complement to the Wild Arctic exhibit,” said Jim Lake, SeaWorld San Diego Park President. “The ride is also an educational opportunity for guests to learn more about climate change, how it impacts animals in the Arctic and what they can do to help the issue. I truly feel that seeing these animals upclose at SeaWorld allows guests to build a stronger connection and encouragement to take action to help protect them.”

Unpredictable climate fluctuations and global warming is happening in the Arctic three times as fast as the rest of the planet. As a result, the Arctic sea ice that many animals rely on for survival is melting, threatening the survival of many species and forcing them to change the way they hunt, breed, and migrate. The ride is inspired by the heroic efforts of the SeaWorld Rescue Team and their dedication to rescuing animals in distress and in need of care. Riders will race the unpredictable arctic climate to save these animals in danger. Arctic Rescue is incorporated in the Wild Arctic exhibit which is home to a ringed seal, walruses, and belugas, some of the species most impacted by Arctic sea loss. The new ride will bring awareness to the pressures the Arctic is facing and allow guests to visit, see and learn more about each animal whose species call the Arctic their home.

Arctic Rescue will be the perfect addition for the Coaster Capital of San Diego and SeaWorld's ever-growing ride portfolio, which includes Journey to Atlantis, Manta, Electric Eel, Tidal Twister and Emperor, voted one of 2022’s top best new attractions in the country by USA Today 10Best Readers' Choice poll. Arctic Rescue will join the park's famed attractions as a must-do experience for coaster enthusiasts everywhere.

"2024 looks to be another fun year with exciting new rides in our parks and our first jellyfish exhibit," said Marc Swanson, CEO of SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment.  "We know our fans will delight in the all-new lineup of marine life inspired experiences that gives everyone even more new ways to really enjoy our parks.  And when they do, they can feel good knowing that a portion of proceeds goes toward our rescue and conservation work."

"Jewels of the Sea: The Jellyfish Experience" at SeaWorld San Diego Offers an Immersive Experience with the Beauty and Wonder of Graceful Jellies, the First at SeaWorld Parks

SeaWorld San Diego is thrilled to announce the upcoming debut of "Jewels of the Sea: The Jellyfish Experience" in 2024, adding another exciting and educational dimension to the park's offerings. The first of its kind for SeaWorld parks, the Jellyfish Experience will be the newest immersive and interactive aquarium at the park.

Nestled within the Ocean's Explorer area, guests to the new exhibit will be greeted by a kaleidoscope of colors and shapes in three unique galleries as if diving into the heart of the ocean. Glowing with an ethereal light, Moon Jellyfish, Pacific Sea Nettles, Upside-Down Jellyfish, and Comb Jellies will gracefully glide through the water, showcasing their hypnotic movements that seem almost unworldly.  The experience features an 18-foot-tall cylinder, among the tallest jelly cylinders in the country, a 10-foot-tall acrylic living arch of jellyfish for guests to walk through for views from multiple angles, plus a vivid display from walls to ceiling that show virtual oceanic moments, ranging from calm waters to dynamic, energetic crescendos. Guests can also upgrade their experience with a behind-the-scenes tour led by an aquarist and learn more about jellyfish propagation and have hands-on experience to touch the ocean's translucent treasures.

As part of the park's commitment to education, the Jellyfish Experience also offers a fun way to learn more from experts about what makes a jellyfish, the beauty and diversity of the translucent species, their behaviors and patterns, and how they have adapted to some of the most extreme environments on Earth. Plus, guests will come away with a better understanding of what they can do to protect jellyfish and our oceans.
