Slacking
I washanging around the house today doing nothing. At 12:30, I decided to go to BGT. I left the house at 1:00pm, and arrived at the park at 1:30pm. Turning onto McKinley to take me to BGT I could see the Everest Billboard at the next intersection. As expected, the park was dead. I loved it. It was overcast when I arrived and just got worse as the day went on. It started to rain and it last about 15-30 minutes. The only ride that it seemed to effect was Cheetah Chase. First place I headed to was the Hospitality House for my free beer! Next was Shiekra, which was a walk-on! It was running great today. Next was what may possibly be my final Python ride (not fun) and then Kumba (running well). Afterwards it was time for Scorpion, I love this little ride. Next was Pirates 4D. Despite major plot holes (how is that kid alive and how is he still a kid?) it is definitely more fun of a flick than Haunted Lighthouse. I love Leslie Nielsen, he's great and does a great job. I do think that the film is dated (the end features a cameo of a celebrity thats been dead for awhile) and does not use 3D very often or very well, but I prefer it over HL. As I leave Pirates, I saw Cheetah Crawl..... I mean Chase cycling empty cars. I got in the short line waiting for them to open up. 10 minutes later they finally opened. Yay! And then I did the unthinkable........... I rode Rhino Rally! Even more amazing? The water portion was working!!! Not so surprising though is that after I got out of the jeep they announced the ride was down. I bet if it ever came back up today it would have been w/o the water portion. This ride is such a dud. Its not very fun even with the water portion working, the water portion doesn't work very often, and there just aren't many animals to see. I always get the feelings as if the jeep drivers know how bad their ride is. After RR, I took the required walk through King Tut's Tomb and then rode Montu which also was running well today. Once again crowds were not an issue. Even with Motnu and Kumba only running one train each I was able to walk straight onto both rides. Overall, I did quite a bit in 2 and a half hours, and was quite satisfied. On with the pics............... First half posted, will post the second batch sometime after American Idol. My home this past October. I miss you Deathly Departed!! Closeup of Kumba's awesome new paint job. Pictures don't do it justice, its great! Countdown to Concussion........ Will this be a sight we won't be seeing much longer? Obligatory SheiKra car on track pic Here was SheiKra's entire line! I remember waiting in this entire queue area last year! Yum! Most delicious tree since Willy Wonka My first stop.......... FREE BEER!!!!
TheStig
Nice PTR! I hit BGT on Sunday with pretty much the same crowd amount, which is NOT suprising at all! Untill just reading this, I forgot that Python might be destroyed, so I'm glad I got to ride it Sunday (even though I dont think its being torn out). And yeah doesnt Kumba look amazing with its new paint job?!? Glad you had fun....and beer. Colin C

Slacking
Second batch of photos........... "GRRRRRR....... Gwazi Me was down today!!!!" And with scary plant tiger, that wraps up my report. Thanks for reading! Looks like I'll never ride Akbar. BTW, Fuji Film sign is gone, so my guess of leftover HOS signage was probably right. No Celebrating the Light for me today, but I gotta admit Katonga is a guilty pleasure for me. Picture is out of order, but Tidal wave was well...... out of order. Looks like work was being done on the splash bridge. The water portion is working! Wow, so exciting! Look how excited I am while riding Rhino Rally. Whee!!! A little snack in the rain. After Pirates I see that Cheetah Crawl is cycling cars through. I hope the seats are wet due to the movie....... If only they modeled this pirate after Leslie Nielsen. Surely, I can't be serious. New Pirates stuff outside of the theater. The reason I came to BGT today, no lie! I love you Scorpion...... no really, I do.

cfc
Nice report--Cheetah Chase (in its Wilde Maus incarnation) never ran during rainstorms at BGW, either. Here's a little anecdote about Pirates when it opened at BGW (and it does beat the hell out of Haunted Lighthouse, unless you like the idea of being spat on by Christopher Lloyd): Busch held a special screening of Pirates for local elementary-school kids. Eric Idle was there, too. Two pirate skeletons framed the theatre door, and Idle just couldn't resist the chance to pay tribute to a fallen member of Monty Python. He placed an arm around a skeleton and said, "So nice to be working with Graham Chapman, again!"

dandaman
If only they modeled this pirate after Leslie Nielsen. Surely, I can't be serious. I am serious. And don't call me Shirley. I'm surprised there's been this many posts without mentioning it.
