P. 28: Mecalodon trains arrive at the park!

Still really GREAT to see work getting done on this ride to get it back open again!

I'm curious, even with only a handful of operating Schwarzkopf shuttle loops in the world, how many of us have been on one in the past couple of years?

The only Schwarzkopf shuttle I've been on was SFKK's Greezed Lightnin' back in 2009. Seeing as it closed the year after, I'm pretty happy I got on it. I'd like to get on a flywheel launched one and an Arrow one in the future. Surprisingly, Arrow shuttles are just about as common as Schwarzkopfs in the U.S.

For those, who didn't know (for "some days") yet…

Very strongly "rumors" say, that the Shuttle Loop "Turbine" @ Walibi will lose totally its iconic flywheel-launch-mechanic-system, which will be replaced by a LSM-system. A brandnew train will keep the only lapbars by company Gerstlauer Amusement Rides GmbH.

I said it in another thread yet… I’m hoping, that comes a second train-generation/prototype with its regarding (and hopefully beautiful) front-car(-nose:-) by company Gerstlauer … If not, I am not so much exited about the train, because we know for month the look/design from the new “sooperdooperLooper”-trains. But okay, the colors could change definately…

Thri"but nevertheless, it’s always extremely positive to keep a Schwarzkopf-Ride running and not scrapping"!!er

Hey everyone, I'm in the general area around Walibi Belgium for a little over a month and I was wondering if there will be any off-season events at the park? I'm a little out of my element with these foreign parks. It's a bit of a shame that I'm missing a this location, and I'll definitely be driving by and taking a picture of Turbine to share. Thanks!

I've been on Katapul at Hopi Hari last year. I intend to ride it again in 2013, since the rollercoaster has received a Superman theme and new mechanical parts.

I'm glad to hear this things about Turbine... It's nice to see that this type of rollercoaster can be save.

^ I see that but I mean they haven't done anything yet to enclose the far ends of the ride. So is started to wonder if they still where planning that.

Just to have a open mind here, It could be that that green tube is the free-space area of the coaster. (You know the zone where nothing can be because your arms can reach within the zone.)

One of the two initial plans had the spikes enclosed in circular tubes that looked like smokestacks, not the reach envelope you're thinking of.

I'll just post what I consider the most important pic of the batch, but feel free to have a look at the others, showing footers for the coming tubular structure (they're enclosing the spikes) and other things... but in a nutshell: TURBINE IS BACK TO LIFE !!! Opening planned in June (so expect July ) Source: Ameworld

and it's NOT a pull through

TESTING VIDEO ! Straight from the park's Facebook. I literally cannot wait to testride the new version of this classic. Notice the train is really going HIGH on the front spike ! (compare with other shuttle loop videos on youtube to see what I mean) Also, this is probably one of the rare videos you'll see of the train outside since the coaster is being totally enclosed for june !

Today Walibi Belgium released some cool new stuff!

The new name of 'Turbine' is Psyké Underground. The coaster is now fully enclosed and will feature some theming elements inside like 'glow-in-the-dark' bats and a 3D projection of a monster inside the loop! The launch-system changed to a LIM-launch by Gerstlauer. The capacity will be 700 p/h (25 launches each hour) and it shall open the second week of June. This might be the best looking Schwarzkopf Shuttle loop in the world! What do you think?

Two videos from Walibi Belgium Youtube Channel:

The history of Psyké Underground:

Some theming elements are shown in this video. Note: it's all in French:

=> Do I need to upload them in coastertube to get them in ? Because it doesn't work.

And two pictures:

The new train made by Gerstlauer:

The whole building in one picture (they are still working on the tubes):

As a local, I'm thrilled to see that this coaster is running again. My last ride was in 2008 and I really missed this thing. I will go just after opening, I'll then upload some more pictures !

Great thanks to Walibiband.be (they have more pictures but I can't upload them) and Themepark.nl!
