Mr. Volcano
Although the ride area is able to meet capacity, Buescher revealed Tuesday plans to add a new roller coaster to Cypress Gardens. Galaxy Spin will join the fleet of coasters this May. The ride is a spinning coaster with a UFO theme. The ride "cars" are now being customed designed. So Florida will add its 2nd (or 3rd) Spinning Mouse Clone. Its expected to be one of the new Zamperla Spinning Mouse coasters much like the Ragin' Cajun http://rcdb.com/id2654.htm (If not the same exact thing). Keep in mind that Zamperla bought out Reverchon, which is why when Cypress Gardens confirmed a new Zamperla coaster everyone freaked out assuming we were getting a volare. I think it will be a nice addition, the ride setup sounds interesting, my guess is how well he will be able to theme the ride, but I think the whole concept itself is very neat, as far as the theme of the coaster goes. msep003
in the few years they will add another Vekoma Boomerang ( just kidding ) Please Stop vending those coasters from Vekoma lol
BoardwalkandBaseball4Ever
in the few years they will add another Vekoma Boomerang ( just kidding ) Please Stop vending those coasters from Vekoma lol I hate the Boomerang, too. The Swamp Thing at CG is torture. Hate that nasty head-banging beast. For some reason, its twin at Wild Adventures seemed considerably smoother. I dunno. Jeezus Juice
Does anyone have any idea on the status of the new coaster? If it is really opening next month I thought I would have seen something on it already. Anybody know more? -Don "shcked at the growth of this park" Garrison
Mr. Volcano
It was suppose to open in may if I remember correctly, but I haven't been around the park to check the progress out in a LONG time. My guesses are that its either started construction or the pieces arive in May and thats when they start assembling it though. I mean I drive by the park everyday and I dont see anything new, but a wild mouse coaster to stick up out of the woods would be pretty hard to see visible, especially since a wild mouse isn't that high (well I guess none of the other coasters at cypress are high either lol). -Justin (Oh yeah, Cypress Gardens website added some news to page but they havent updated their website in FOREVER!) http://www.CypressGardens.com/

They missed their original grand opening. They said that the animal exhibit would be open in March - its still not open. CG announced that the new HO train layout would be running in February (still not ready). They announced that Night Magic would premiere in April -- it doesn't look like they're going to make it. So if they say May on the coaster, it probably will be September based on their track record. They said Splash Island will open in "Summer 2005." Well, Summer begins next month and all they've got now is a big pile of dirt. In their defense, they are doing a wonderful job at restoring the attraction. But these artificial dates aren't doing anything but cause confusion. Yeah, the Cypress Gardens web site doesn't get updated very often.
CoasterG
I was there last Sunday, April 17th and while there's mention of the mouse going in - the only construction I saw was on the water park area. There was one other construction site over by Power Surge and Swamp "Ouch" Thing but it seemed too small for a coaster install. Talked to some of the construction workers the day before while hanging out at the fabulous Best Western hotel bar across the street. /sarcasm off They stated they are getting 60+ hour weeks right now to get the water park and zoo area moving, right now both areas are large piles of dirt with some initial ground development completed. BoardwalkandBaseball4Ever
^Woo! Makes me want to go to Cypress Gardens! Yeah! -kip- Its actually kind of funny -- they always miss their deadlines. I just got a Cypress Gardens/Wild Adventures newsletter in the mail (they send them to anyone with annual passes). They are advertising how April is the month of the Pirate! The newsletter claims that both the Nature's Way animal area, Cypress Cove Ferry boats and the new Pirate Show will all be open to celebrate April. Well, we've only got six days of April left -- and none have opened! :?
BarryH
Good! I'm glad they're getting a spinning mouse! This means I can put off going back even longer! Elissa "doesn't like spinning mice!!!" Alvey You probably won't go to DelGrosso's either. That spinning mouse there has the most insane spins I've ever seen on one. The spinning was on ludricious speed or something! DelGrosso's also has a Wacky Worm. Hmmm..Elissa is probably drooling over that credit! At least their pizza is pretty good...
Jeezus Juice
^OMG yeah their pizza is good! It's real cheap too, like $1.25 a slice (yarrl...) I need to get back to Dellys sometime. Do they let adults ride their wacky worm? I got shunned at WOF at their WW. <------WHORE!!! -J
BarryH
I rode the Wacky Worm without even borrowing a kid, so the answer is yes, adults can ride it too!
Gregory DG
Well, since this is the Galaxy Spin thread, I see it's going to open this Wednesday. Maybe I'll go to the ribbon cutting. http://cypressgardens.com/press.asp
Erik Johnson
Ugh! While they are fun, spinning mice bruise me up pretty good. I only have ridden the one at Animal Kingdom and boy did I get hurt on that one. Any suggestions on how to ride these correctly so I don't get brusied up again. We went to Cypress Gardens a few months ago. While we did have fun, its just too hot to go there in the summer...and I live in Florida. The Triple Hurricane was a fun Junior coaster, you actually got some air time on the last hill.
