SharkTums 134
^Yeah but to a lot of "general" park people going upside down and/or over the shoulder restraints is a deal breaker.
A.J. 36
So...where's that "waiting for parts from Europe" sign? Knoebels' Facebook page
coasterbill 296
Evidently the park removed Over the Top from the ride list on the website a few weeks ago. Interestingly enough, they did not remove Downdraft.
Canobie Coaster 75
Considering how often Over the Top ran at Knoebels, that doesn't shock me.
A.J. 36
I remember them being so excited for Over The Top when they rode that example at the IAAPA Expo... That's too bad that it didn't work out.
Canobie Coaster 75
Have any of the Over the Tops been successful? The one at the Island had the accident and this one hardly ran. They looked fun if they worked correctly and safely.
A.J. 36
As far as I know, those are (were) the only two installations.
coasterbill 296
Apparently Knoebels did a presentation today at an enthusiast event and revealed that Over the Top is being replaced by a kids ride that looks like the flat ride version of an SBF spinner. More importantly, Downdraft is just being replaced with a newer model of the same ride (similar to what they did with Galleon).
A.J. 36
^ The good news is that the manufacturer still makes the Downdraft, so Knoebels could also be taking it down and refurbishing it (old ride, new parts), or replacing it with an identical model. Called it! Do I get a cookie? As for the SBF ride, based on what Bill said, I think it's a Mini Break Dance, which debuted at the 2017 IAAPA Expo and was also at the 2018 expo. coasterbill 296
Yeah, that's it. God, SBF Visa...
CoasterAuditor 0
^SBF VIsa must be very pleased they came up with one of the simplest coasters of all time that’s selling like a new Apple product.
JG-77 5
Yay! Downdraft isn't dead
Rai Fox 4
I feel a little bit bad for Knoebels, after all the excitement over Over the Top. There must have been something pretty terribly wrong with the design for them to give up on it like that. I don't know the business side of parks all that well, but I would think that under circumstances like that, they're probably getting their money back from the manufacturer? At least the new ride will likely be a big hit for kids. As far as Downdraft being replaced with a newer Downdraft...well, I love that ride, so I can't imagine a better ending than that, personally! Canobie Coaster 75
I think I rode one of those mini break dances in Lake George, except it had OSTRs instead of lap bars. It looked like a kiddie ride because of the compactness, but it had some solid spinning because of the tight radius.
MisterBrow 0
Yay! Downdraft isn't dead NICE!!! Thank you for that news.

Over the Top was made by the same manufacturers of the new mini breakdance. (SBF Visa) I'm sure some type of agreement and "exchange" came out of that. As for Downdraft, I think its one of their best flats so I'm thrilled to hear its coming back. I am curious to see if this newer version is quieter.

Jason Maier 0
This year, I will also make it back to Knoebels for the first time since I was 11 or 12.
Myself 0
I wasn't at the presentation where the new rides were announced, so take the following with a grain of salt...apparently the new Downdraft may be in a different location. The Mini Breakdance is definitely going in Over the Top's spot, though. In addition, the potato cake stand is apparently relocating to the old boulevard through the park (possibly the old Downdraft spot, I'm guessing?) and the existing building will become group sales. ScreaminNewEngland 2
Downdraft would be much better off in the back of the park. Wonder if they'd put it in the back field across from the over-the-top pad.
JG-77 5
Personally, I honestly don't care where it is as long as it's in the park.

prozach626 70
They've got this. Knoebels will figure it out when the truck pulls up to unload the ride.
cal1br3tto 2
That Mini Break Dance seems pretty nifty. Considering I willingly rode a Rockin' Tug and a Frog Hopper last year, I would probably ride and enjoy this. Might take a few visits to Knoebels, though, considering I haven't even gotten to all their thrill rides...
larrygator 7
Might take a few visits to Knoebels, though, considering I haven't even gotten to all their thrill rides... You don''t have to ride each individual carousel horse!
