What is your favorite TV-series?

I would like to watch Breaking Bad because I read a lot of good comments from my TPR friends on FB, but to start watching, what is it, 6 seasons of a tv series, knowing that this will take some 6 full days of my life to watch, I just don't want to start watching.

I avoided it for years, but all the buildup for the series finale (and AMC playing a marathon in the week leading up to it), got me to DVR all episodes and I watched them.

it is a FANTASTIC show, but it's not for everyone.

Give it at least 3 episodes to see if you like it, as I though the first episode was "ok" and the 2nd was a bit better, but I still wasn't getting why folks rave about it. Then episode 3 -- WOW. . one of the best written hours of television I've ever seen.

and it doesn't really go downhill quality-wise from there until the final episode.

for the "tone" of the show, think along the lines of "the Shield" and "Sons of Anarchy" in that you tend to forget that most of these people are really bad guys, so although you root for them, terrible (and usually deserved) things are GOING to happen to them.

don't be put off in that it's 5 seasons -- it's really only something like 63 episodes:

Season 1 = 7 episodes (cut short by writers strike)

Seasons 2-4 13 episodes each

Season 5 = 16 episodes

so it's very manageable

Not a specific series, but I really hate the Tru-TV scripted reality TV shows. There's a show on about Loss Prevention and it could actually be good if it was real.

Full Throttle Saloon and Hardcore Porn are like dirty, dirty smut that I just can't turn off. The towing shows are pretty ratchet though.

My top five shows:

1. Breaking Bad

2. Sherlock

3. How I Met Your Mother

4. Freaks and Geeks

5. Game of Thrones

^ AHS:Coven was great last night.

A bit twisted having SN in the episode.

We knew it was inevitable, and in that one scene, it all seemed

sort of like a "lounge act" with her playing, and everybody

just watching and listening. And Lange reclining.

I was expecting the butler to come in with cocktails, LOL.

I wonder how many people will start watching Brooklyn Nine Nine after it won the Golden Globe for best comedy last night. It's kind of like The Office in a Police station setting. Fox is going to be airing an episode of it after the Super Bowl (along with New Girl) so that gives a lot of people who've never seen it or heard of it exposure to it.

The Big Bang Theory just keep getting better and better, season to season.

It's an amazing ensemble sitcom, after all these years of (IMhO) semi-ensemble shows.

woo hoo

Well, for all that happened last night, the only thing that sort of miffed me, about

Once Upon A Time's season premier, was how Emma regained her memories of everything.

I mean, come on - a Drink Me Potion? I thought it'd be way more complicated

that that. Oh well, she got it all back, and now it's just Henry to convince.

I did enjoy the "OUaT So Far..." special that preceded the episode. Brought back a lot

of "oh yeah..." memories, that have occurred over the first three seasons.

Call me old school, but I like the Andy Griffith show. I have every season on DVD and just finished watching every episode on 35 dvds (again) from start to finish. The simpler times seem more fun to me with less worries. I guess that's why I like an old school out and back wooden coaster so much.
