I was just wondering. Does Rolling Thunder have any airtime of the right side's first hill? I was looking for some pics and I saw that the right side's second hill is considerably shorter than the left side's.

And I....LIKE... RT.. So what if it needs some oil.. The ride runs better then A LOT of other wood coasters I have been on.. And hell it even RACED when I went on it (many times...) Unlike some other "racers" I have been on

That view will look alot different next year. RT has also been painted and looks a lot better.

Rolling Thunder has a lot of great air time just little rough and some may think thats an under statment.

Rolling Thunder LEFT has the greatest airtime, and it flys! Rolling Thunder doesn't deliver much, but it's good. When it's racing though, it's bizare.

Too bad I've never been on RT left. Every time I got to SFGAdv RT right is the only side open.

RT is actually a pretty good ride...even though it is a little rough. Yes it does deliver some decent airtime and it was my first "big" coaster so I guess I'll always like it. And this year it finally started to race woo hoo!

I have only been on the left and it was not racing although, when it races, do they go off the lift at the same time? Or does one side go first and it eventually cathes up.

 

Its like American Eagle where the trains go down the helix at the same time but they still stay next to each other because of how the turn is.

 

so is the ride like American Eagle where they go down the hill at the same time?

When I went over the summer 2 of the 3 days it raced and when it raced it did it good.

No, I've seen it race, and the left goes off the lift first, and the right catches up. The imbalance is caused by the left turn out of the station taken by both trains.

Rolling Thunder still has buzz bars !?

 

Last time I was on it a few years back, i thought that they were getting single lap bars instead

^ Mine Train is getting the single lap bars they were supposed to have this past year. Rolling Thunder has the same lap bars with the added seat belts. I have not heard about single lap bars for it.

RT is my favorite coaster. Particularly the left side, just INSANE air. The right side's ok, but it's like the "Diet" version of the left side.

 

But, yes, it is extremely rough, too.

If the left side is the more popular side, why was the right side the only side open this year? They both have the same operating mode, so if someone would clarify that for me, that'd be cool.

^ They have been re tracking the left over the past season. They have been doing a little at a time but it was open a lot this year more then previous years. Both sides have been down for track work and you can feel the difference if you have rode it prior to the track work.

I find the airtime more like a bounce time from the roughness. I rode one side once and I loathed it. So painful.

 

When I went back a different year, the ride out was okay but coming back was quite boring. I'm not sure what side it was though. When I was there, only one side was open, I do remember that.
