I bet this one will require less supports...

It does, because engineering (second moment of inertia among others).

When building a coaster, material and manufacturing costs increase with the height since the supports are taller. However, manufacturing this kind of complex track is costly as well, so it's a balance to find the most cost-effective solution between supports and track. I'd say the closer you are to ground use less complex track that its cheaper to manufacture (no spine), and when going high use complex track that is more expensive to manufacture (double-spine) but save money on the supports you don't need to build.

This ride is going to look great, and the track/supports fit the Ferrari theming better than Formula Rossa's plain white scheme.

Still not sure if it can justify a separate gate admission (it's a really small plot of land) and I feel like if they end up merging it with the rest of PA, the planned drop tower for Ferrari Land is pointless. Either way, all the hype from it being the tallest and fastest coaster in Europe will make the lines for Furius Baco and Shambhala shorter so I have no complaints!!

  • 2 weeks later...

Construction update by TPR user Trevor (right now at the park):

This pretty much confirms what we knew. The coaster is going to run using LSM.

What looks like the elevator cart under wraps...

These supports are going to hold the elevator for the maintenance of the coaster...

Current state of the construction site. It looks like these supports are just ready to go up...

I'll be visiting tomorrow and the day after, but can't seem to get the website to sell me a 2 day ticket. There's a good combined train and single day entrance ticket available at the barcelona sants station, what I'd like to know is if it is possible to upgrade a single day entry ticket into a 2 day one o site at the park, and if so then how much this will cost?

When you are inside the park, you have the option to upgrade you ticket to 2 days paying 28 euros in the Mediterranean Place, in the start of the park. You can question to the workers and they will informs you.

PortAventura officially stated that they were aiming at Spring 2017, not late 2016.

As for the coaster, PA will be closed for the season on January 6th. Then I would expect the coaster to go up really fast, considering that the construction crew have been onsite for some days and most of the track for it is already waiting to be erected.
