Danrarbc
She’d have a point if there was some sort of evidence that the construction is being rushed and corners cut to get it done faster. Alas this is going up the same way the others have. The only question is if the same crew that did Sky Striker is also installing ours. If so they don’t often get to do two back to back so maybe they’re slightly more efficient on ours?

teacherkim
I'm glad to see they've been continuing with updates on FB. Not only the new ride but food and drink offerings as well as Trivia Tuesdays. I know I have kind of harped on this but I really think it is so important for the park to engage the community. Despite whatever gripes we might have as individuals, we certainly all want the park to be successful.

Danrarbc
Considering how Sky Striker was running with riders (but not yet open due to the entrance area not being done) 6 weeks after going vertical end of July is definitely possible. If the construction around ours takes longer I could see the funhouse opening a bit later. There’s a funhouse bypass lane in the plans posted earlier on in here. prozach626
I saw it last Saturday. The ride was pretty much up, aside from mounting the seats. The queue and station have a long way to go. I talked my four-year-old daughter, Eve, into going on Rookie Racer. It was a lot more forceful than I thought it would be. She was scared. We're not quite there yet, but it marks her 5th coaster. Still waiting for her to like one... The two really rough roller skaters we rode last year set us back, for sure. We rode Thunder River and Eve loved it. We were lucky enough to get the least amount of splashes and never got drenched. We just watched the other side get owned through the whole ride. It was probably the highlight of the trip. The landscaping in the kids area is run down. There were a lot of empty flower beds filled with dirt and weeds around the park. The area around the old health food restaurant looks like complete neglected garbage. They had a character in the entrance plaza when we came, which was nice. The employee escorting Porky took a good picture of the three of us. My one big coaster of the day I rode was Mr. Freeze. It still kicks ass. They were running both sides and churning out trains. I had a station wait for the front (rear) row. It's crazy how riding way less coasters makes them so much more thrilling again, to the point where it actually got my heartrate up. The park wasn't crowded for a Saturday. I saw a lot of empty seats on coaster trains. The Dip-N-Dots dude hooked us up big time. Our cup was overflowing. The splash pad could use a new soft pad. It's stained. But, it kept plenty of kids entertained. The bathrooms I used were clean and modern. Everything else was just fine. We're probably done until next summer. Danrarbc
Joker status update I found on the site formerly known as Twitter. Also a bonus. This doesn’t look like Jingle Mangle to me.
SixFlagsOMA80
Anyone know what is up with Tsunami Soaker being closed this summer? I guess they are dumping another ride on the death block?
prozach626
I've only seen it running once since it was constructed. It's just another ride closed for families. At least the carousel will be open soon.

IMO it looks like they attempted to open it and a part might have broken that they now need to wait for. I could definitely be wrong though. prozach626
It looks very weathered and like total shit. Cedar Fair management really needs to put some love into this park. Not patchwork, but make some real efforts to aesthetically improve the park.
Danrarbc
I think it’s pretty clear the ride hasn’t been repainted or rewrapped since it was installed.
prozach626
I'm not surprised, since they chose to go with the budget option instead of a splash battle.

Yes, the platform is definitely lowered in the position that it would be if the ride was running to allow water at the bottom. Normally its level with the station platform for loading. Probably wont open until October at this point.
Danrarbc
I think there’s three levels. The off-season parking level that is lowest when there’s zero water in the ride and they’ve locked it out. The operating position that it seems to be in right now (but there’s no water). And then loading. I could be wrong though and it’s just 2 levels. Either way it’s not in an operable state right now. As for the carousel the horses and carriages install quickly. So what we’ll want to watch for is the completion of the overhaul of the rest of the ride that we can see right now.

SteveStL
The location of Tsunami Soaker is so out of place, it has always bothered me. It doesn't belong there at all. The Kid's Area or even Hurricane Harbor is a better location. ahh whatever, who cares.

It was put there for a specific reason, it was similar to the ride that used to be there minus the water.

SixFlagsOMA80
That would be it. They had saved some and used as places to sit near the train. I guess they recently trashed them.
prozach626
It took me a while to realize that wasn't the area around the old "fresh/healthy" food stand. They Six Flags'd that area up real nice. They went from an old time looking building that at least blended into the area to modern faded water ride that quickly became unreliable and faded. What an upgrade. From one SBNO to another one more obvious. Again, it's just another closed family ride waved in your face. As much as the possibility of Six Flags ruining Cedar Fair parks discourages me, I have hope that Cedar Fair will clean this place up a little. Stop adding rides for a few years and give it the Worlds of Fun treatment by turning it into a place where families want to visit.

Stop adding rides for a few years and give it the Worlds of Fun treatment by turning it into a place where families want to visit. Six Flags really wont be running anything, 95% of the company will be ran by Cedar Fair upper management from a corporate level. The new Six Flags is really just the old Cedar Fair. I overheard some conversations that Cedar Fair people were recently at our park and see a lot of future and charm with our park. Not like we haven't heard that before. While this is a merger it is similar in fact that when Premier Parks (the company that killed the Six Flags name) took over from Time Warner that they just changed their name to Six Flags. One thing to bare in mind however is that much like the Time Warner years a lot of people liked the parks that Cedar Fair took over when they were owned by Paramount, ie Kings Island. Movie companies just have a way of making their parks look and run better. This is proven by Disney and Universal Studios.
thisdougsforu
Funny reading the Tsunami Soaker talk....I've never seen it operate. That's not hyperbole....I am legit serious that I have never seen it running in all the years I've visited the park. It's basically a piece of (faded) scenery to me. I'm very much looking forward to seeing what Cedar Fair does with this park. I'd assume that it will probably be around 2-3 years for the merger to start really being felt, both positive or negative. I’ve ridden it multiple times. As for merger effects the investor presentation stated that cost savings will be realized within 2 years and operations improvements should improve numbers within 3 years.
