Six Flags St. Louis (SFStL) Discussion Thread

Recommended Posts

I still wonder why Six Flags St. Louis decided to use Flashback's train instead of purchasing a new one like Carowinds did with Carolina Cobra...

Same reason they didn't buy new trains when they moved Iron Wolf to Six Flags America...

Maybe they next year new trains will comes as SFNE did with Goliath. Maybe they The park is seeing how Goliath trains work out first.

SFNE didn't plan on waiting until the 2nd year for the new train...Goliath was intended to open with the new train but it got delayed so they ran the old train for the 1st season...What does the new trains on Goliath have to do with Boomerang's train anyways? One's inverted and the other one isn't...not the same thing.

Boomerang looks nice. I don't think Boomerang or Apocalypse were expect to bring a large increase in attendance or ROI (return on investment) therefore it wasn't financially wise to invest in new trains. However, with Goliath, which pretty much has become a statement at SFNE, the probability of a decent attendance boost/ ROI were far greater thus the investment in new trains. SFNE did have a successful season last year. That said, I understand why Boomerang doesn't have the brand new trains. Keeps the profit margin (albeit not much) relatively greater than it would be if they invested in a new train. I also want to mention that Boomerang looks great, I love the colors, and the train colors. Definitely a nice pop of color for that park.

What does goliath being invented have to do with anything. I'm simply talking about older coasters getting a new trains from other manufacturers and since SF seems to have a good relationship with Pr

emier lately maybe it could be option, or maybe not.

Personally, I don't think Six Flags will spend the money to buy new trains.

If they are getting Iron Horse for the Boss next year, Boomerang will pretty much be forgotten and an investment for new trains would not make any sense.

How old were most of the original Boomerangs when they closed? I can't see our new coaster lasting that much longer.

We have the old train, and it will most likely stay that way. Especially with all of the junk/parts trains we have laying around for that particular train design.

Also, as much as a lot of us would love for the boss to get the iron horse makeover next year, I don't think it's safe to assume it's going to happen, for sure. It's still just a rumor and speculation based on minimal information, at this point.

The GP don't look at Apocalypse or Boomerang as old mediocre coasters, because in there eyes there new. if anything those rides are good return investments because it the ride are essentially paid for.

3 of the 4 Boomerangs that opened in 1984 are still in operation today. I'm sure this Boomerang is going to be around for a while whether people like it or not. The parts for the trains and coaster itself are still available.....otherwise they wouldn't have gone through all the trouble of moving it.

Hi friends! I went to SFStL on Tuesday. I really had a great time. It was the best time I've ever had at the park. Crowds were very light and the longest wait was about 20 minutes. All rides were running one train except Screamin Eagle, which was running two but went down to one later in the day. Pandamonium was down for about four hours but later opened. The landscaping was way better than I remember in the past, so kudos to SF for that. A few things I noticed, Excalibur and Pandamonium were both in need of new paint. Excalibur you could see the original blue from when it was at SFGAd in several spots, plus alot of the theming (the ropes) had been removed. Parking was a rediculous $20 and the food was extremely overpriced for the quality. The pathway between Batmans exit and The Joker has been blocked off, I think for the paintball attraction. Ripcord, and the go karts were both down all day. Now for the rides:

Batman- One ride. Fantastic! I kept my arms up the whole ride, for the first time!

The Joker- One ride. Didnt like it, as always, just rode for my friends.

Screamin Eagle- Two rides. Seriously the best ride I've ever had on it! Was not rough and was just tons of fun. First ride I had tons of air time. Second time still great, but not as much air time.

Mine Train- Two rides. Was really fun, but a lot rougher than it used to be. I mean significantly.

Ninja- One ride. Rode for nostalgia purposes (my first real coaster). It was fun, but very very rough. I honestly dont expect it to be around a lot longer.

American Thunder- Two rides. This was the longest wait. About 20 minutes. Really enjoyable, and had a lot of air time, but it seemed a little more intense when I rode it for the first time two years ago.

The Boss- One ride. Was really rough, but I always enjoy that about The Boss. I guess I'm the black sheep lol!

Mr. Freeze Reverse Blast- One ride. This was my first time riding it sense its been reversed. I dont think I will ever ride it again. Its always been the one coaster to make me a little nervous, but with the change it litterally terrified me. Yes, it was an excellent adrenaline rush, but I dont like being so scared I feel like I could cry lol! Seriously it was that bad.

Pandamonium- One ride. This was my first time riding it. I've had other oppurtunities but spinning rides make me sick (except the Scrambler) so I've always been too leary to try it. Well my friends suggested the best way for our group (four of us) to distribute the weight. It worked perfectly. Little spins that were not too intense and it turned out to be very fun and I really enjoyed it. We managed to do the dips after the second break run sideways which was a blast. I'm glad I finally got to do it and I will do it again providing the weight can be distributed well.

Boomerang- Does not open until June 8th, but I did get to see it testing. I'm still not excited about having a used 24 year old Boomerang, but I have to say it looks very nice.

I had such a great time. I left out details about the other flat rides because I did not ride them because I get sick spinning so I left those to my friends. We also did Scooby Doo Ghost Blasters and I got the high score with over 26,000 points,so yay! lol! Any questions about some aspects I may have left out just let me know.

I visited the park yesterday, here's a quick trip report:

We got there right after the park opened. I had misplaced my pass, so we headed to guest relations to get another one printed. My dad and I got the dining pass added on (more on that later), but my sister didn't get one because she hardly comes with us anymore.

First we headed towards American Thunder, but stopped at the Moon Cars, which had no wait (my sister loves them). I really doubt Six Flags has any plans to do so, but the Cars deserve a better track. The track is ugly and short and really makes the ride pointless.

We got a ride on American Thunder, which was amazing and airtime-filled, as usual, then got sprinkled with water on the Log Flume. Mr. Freeze had a twenty minute wait with only the right side running, but broke down as we got up to the loading area, because the train had stopped halfway into the station. We left, and were bummed when it was running five minutes later.

I got a cold drink as my sister and dad rode Scooby Doo, then we headed to Mooseburger, our favorite restaurant in the park, for some good eating. We sat on a bench afterwards and watched Boomerang test a few times. A few notes:

1. The train actually looks okay on the ride and it does have orange and green stripes on top of the yellow.

2. The landscaping in the area has been improved.

3. SQUEAKY. Are there new wheels, or does the paint make the noise?

Then we took the Train for a ride. Afterwards, we were up for a show and headed to the Palace Porch to see Looney Tunes We Got The Beat. It sucked. It was possibly the worst show I've ever seen. The country saloon show looked pretty good, but we didn't see it. The performers were outside, with old western music playing, and for some reason I felt like I was in Silver Dollar City for a second. I never thought I'd get that feeling at SFSTL.

After the horribleness that was the Looney Tunes show, we went to the Boss and got on with a five minute wait, a pleasant surprise. We got another drink refill at the Mooseburger Lodge Coke Freestyle machine, then headed to Batman with a ten minute wait. My sister begged to swim at the wave pool, so we went there and let her swim.

My sister used my dad's dining pass and got the pizza meal at Primos and I got chicken strips (for the second time that day) at Cowabunga Burgers. We left around 4:30.

It was an okay day at the park. Next time I'll have to try Macho Nacho Burritos, which is basically like a Qdoba restaurant.

The food is identical to that of Chipotle( less offerings than Qdoba), and I've worked at Macho Nacho's 1-2 days in the beginning of the season.

Best we can hope for is the Iron Horse treatment on the Boss or to replace the Ninja with another transplanted coaster. I can't see this park ever get into the double digit coaster count.

Think about it they barely even put any money in the boomerang expect for the workers to ship and put up the ride they maybe spent a million doing that and remember when we got the kiddie park superman tinyhawks bigspin and evel knievel which the names changed to American thunder and pandemoneum so if you really think about it we haven't got a # a new coaster since 2008 so they have been saving there mo et for something decent even if it is the iron horse treatment
