Danrarbc Posted April 29, 2019 Posted April 29, 2019 Went to the park today. Don't know if this was in in my last trip but fresh Mooseburger's Freestyle sign. Joker's nice new paint. Zero signs of rehab on Tidal Wave. No supplies. No tools. At least one extra boat is in the graveyard. A couple alternative angles of Supergirl's status (head on is covered above). Queue railing installed at Macho Nacho and Colonnades.
ChrisGraslie Posted April 29, 2019 Posted April 29, 2019 ^ Theming at Six Flags parks is a thing of the past. You might as well expect many more DC themed attractions throughout the park. That's definitely not true. It really just varies from park to park, like I've said before. Is theming overall much less prominent than it was in the 90's? Yeah, for sure, but it's definitely not a "thing of the past". All of our areas are still referred to as such, and they've all retained their theme for the most part. The problem is that most guests don't even know that the park is divided into different sections, because Six Flags doesn't do a great job of telling you where you are in any given location. Studio Backlot, Britannia, and Bugs Bunny National Park are the only areas that have an entrance sign. That's way different than SFGAM, which has entrance signs for every single area in the park. As for getting more DC-themed rides, who knows what will happen. But I've heard that there are going to be a lot of big changes in the next couple years as we approach the 50th anniversary, and part of that would most likely be fixing the layout and making everything more consistent.
bert425 Posted May 1, 2019 Posted May 1, 2019 went on a booking spree this afternoon.. so we're all set! current plan: -- arrive in St Louis by 8am on Friday 6/7 (flight and rental car booked) we're staying at a nice hotel near the convention center (close to the arch, City Museum, and metro stop). Not thrilled about the parking onsite fee of over $30 a day, but it's downtown. . at least the Fri/Sat nights were a steal before the room quadruples in price for Sunday -- must be a convention coming in). since getting in so early, likely will just go to St Louis Zoo / Art Museum once we pick up the rental car to spend 6-7 hours, before heading to the hotel to check in. City Museum is open until Midnight, but guessing we'll be exhausted (besides, it's an event for the opening of an exhibit that Friday. . so likely will hold off). -- Sat. late morning, we have our combo tickets for the arch complex: starting with the documentary film on the construction at 11, followed by the tour of the arch itself just after Noon, and then visiting the grounds/museum until the riverboat cruise at 3. we should be back at hotel by 5, and will take advantage of the "after 5 / no one under 18 admitted" tickets to City Museum, which is open till Midnight (tho I'm sure we won't stay that long). - Sun up early and whole day at Six Flags StL. very likely with platinum flash pass for me, so he won't have to wait too long for me on rides.. as he'll be riding very little. (at least parking and admission is covered by our passes). - Monday we have late afternoon flight, so *intention* is to get out of hotel by 9am, and head over to Grant's Farm for the morning (not interested in a Camel ride, but would love to see/ride the Carousel). This is a bit up in the air tho, as after dragging Nick around for 3 days (including evening at City Museum followed by Six Flags on Sunday).. he might not be up for it, and might just want to sleep in until noon, and take a leisurely time getting to the airport, stopping for a nice lunch on way there. But my intention is to head there on Monday before our car return at 3pm. thanks for the advice/suggestions.. going to make great use of them.

You need to get to Grant's Farm as early as possible. When you're at the zoo make sure to ride the train.
ytterbiumanalyst Posted May 2, 2019 Posted May 2, 2019 Grant's Farm has a really good carousel. You'll enjoy it.
prozach626 Posted May 2, 2019 Posted May 2, 2019 Unfortunately, I've never been. The couple of times we've tried to go over the last few years the traffic line to get into the park seemed to be nearly an hour. Even though we decided to park our car from a significant distance and then walk toward the entrance the line to get in seemed to be nearly an hour as well. Both times we tried to go it wasn't much later than opening. I've heard it's great. But, like I said, get there early. Hopefully we just tried to go on days where it was exceptionally busy.
ytterbiumanalyst Posted May 2, 2019 Posted May 2, 2019 I don't think it's just when you went, the super long lines to enter are pretty normal from my experience. It's because they require you to take a tram first thing, so the entrance is limited to the tram capacity. Once you get in, it's pretty spacious, or maybe it just seems that way since everyone is in the entrance line.
prozach626 Posted May 3, 2019 Posted May 3, 2019 Hopefully one of these days I'll be able to make it into the gates after a few more attempts. It's odd that I've been living in the St. Louis Metro area for my entire life and have never been.
redmister71 Posted May 4, 2019 Posted May 4, 2019 I am a new member and I had some questions about the “Bring a Friend for Free” days. I know a lot of members visit this site, so I thought maybe I could get some help here. For context: my family of four has four Platinum memberships and four Gold Flash Pass season passes. My questions are: 1. Some of the Bring a Friend for Free days say “one-time use”. Does that mean only once per season or once per day? 2. If only 3 of my family goes to the park on a particular day, can we only get 3 people in for free? 3. If it’s a Bring a Friend Free day, versus a discounted ticket day, do we need to stand in the ticket line to get a free ticket or can we go straight to the Members entrance with our friend? 4. Anyone have any idea why they are now allowing you to buy $19.99 tickets on the website, but for some reason not any of the others? 5. Some of the Bring a Friend Free days are also days where members can get other discounts for tickets – half off, etc. If all 4 of us go to the park and want to get 6 people in, can we get 4 in for free and then 2 in at a discounted rate or will we only be able to use 4 discounts total? Thanks in advance for your help. I’ve enjoyed reading the comments and perspectives of the posters on this site.
ytterbiumanalyst Posted May 4, 2019 Posted May 4, 2019 1. One friend per ticket. You can't get your entire baseball team on on BAFF pass. 2. Correct. Each friend who gets in free needs to enter with a season pass holder. 3. Straight to the entrance for free, ticket line for discounted. 4. Sorry, no idea. 5. Nope, no double dipping. One free/discount per pass only.

Crowds still shouldn't be too awful, but I'd try and get there as early as possible.

ChrisGraslie Posted May 5, 2019 Posted May 5, 2019 I've gotta say, gripes with the lazy theming aside, I'm actually pretty excited to ride this thing. I unfortunately was never able to ride Highland Fling (yes, I know), and hopefully this lives up to it or is even better. Should we expect it to open by Memorial Day weekend?

It's a vomit machine like the one here at SFOT. Don't be surprised if this thing has a lot of down time due to the seats needing to be cleaned out.

At least these should be easier to clean.

SFOT *did* place it right behind Johnny Rockets. . so lots of . . um. . .non-intelligent people riding it right after eating. Personally, I LOVED Catwoman's Whip at SFOT, it has tons of forces, and I rode it multiple times. I wonder if this one will have slightly stronger forces, as this appears to be single seat model (as opposed to SFOT's version being double seats on each "arm"). Hopefully this will be up and running smoothly when we get to the park in ~1 month!
Sportsdude360 Posted May 5, 2019 Posted May 5, 2019 ^ True! Never ride one of these things right after you've eaten! I wonder why SFSTL chose this smaller 24 seat version instead of the larger 48 seat version like SFOT has.
ChrisGraslie Posted May 7, 2019 Posted May 7, 2019 Six Flags announced "Flagstock" today, a celebration of the 50th anniversary of the annual Woodstock music festival in New York. The event will be on August 17th and 18th, the second and third days of the three-day run of Woodstock 50 this year. The park has said that along with "Peace, Love, & Coasters", there will be live music as well as special food offerings. There will be more announced at a later date. The (appropriately) very 1960's logo for Flagstock
ChrisGraslie Posted May 7, 2019 Posted May 7, 2019 Neat, but they cancelled Woodstock lol From what I just read it's not cancelled, but it seems like that's certainly a possibility. I didn't even know about the situation until you said that, and it's pretty nuts. Talk about weird timing for Six Flags to announce a tie-in event to a music festival when the actual festival probably won't even happen.
