Six Flags St. Louis (SFStL) Discussion Thread

Recommended Posts

I have a silly question. Is Highland Fling the relocated Spinnaker from SFOT? I know Spinnaker was removed in the mid 90's to make room for Runaway Mountain. It was relocated to SFFT where it operated as Wagon Wheel. However, SFFT no longer has the ride. So, I was wondering if it might've been sent to SFSTL.

Highland Fling has been in STL since the 80's I believe. It recently got spare parts from SFFT

Since the late 70's I believe. I'm pretty sure 1981 was the last time I rode it, I was 13 and I think I might have set a world record for the most barf to come out of a 5'1'' body. Ever.

It was late 70's ... the Sky Chuter and the Swings were right next it in those days.

How about Tom's Twister... that was a Barf machine more so than the Fling

^ I can only speak to the Enterprise at SFGAdv (taken out in 2006), but in its final years, it was a maintenance nightmare, down as much as it was up.

The flat that needs to go is Swashbuckler. Add a Zamperla Endeavour or 2nd Gen Enterprise.

There are plenty of other places that park could add either of those flats (which I agree the park needs) without having to take out one of the last remaining original flat rides at the park, one which is still operating just fine. The empty area where the last Enterprise operated makes more sense than that.

This is the SFStL thread anyway, right? I brought up SFGAdv's old Enterprise in comparison to the one at SFStL, not to derail the current discussion with what should and shouldn't be added to that park.

No, Highland Fling was built in 1977. It received Gondolas from Wagon Wheel after its removal and the gondolas where added to Fling in 2015.

Highland Fling had a big refurb a couple of years ago and since then has been decently reliable. Rumours of its demise are greatly exaggerated.

Well, Highland Fling is 40 years old this year and parts are getting rarer. Also recently more and more Schwarzkopf Enterprises seem to be bowing to the hands of time. I don't think Fling is going anywhere this year, but there is a pattern set by the other Enterprises that have gone before it.

You seem to be arguing the obvious point that the ride will eventually be removed. And while rides don't necessarily ever have to go away--parts can always be machined--there always comes a time when it would cost more to maintain than it's worth. But that day is not today, and it's not for a while yet. Those parts from Fiesta Texas will keep it going for some time, and they will keep it going to recoup their investment in it. It's not free to transport ride parts from Texas to Missouri.

Ahh, yes, Tom's Twister. Even worse because the barf obeyed centrifugal force and adhered to the walls and everyone else!

If you want to experience a REAL barf machine, come down to SFOT and ride Catwoman Whip! That thing must've set a park record for most puking incidents in a single day! Right after it opened, people were barfing on nearly every ride cycle! Riddler had a few too, but nothing compaired to Catwoman!

Sign me up for that, then. I love the Highland Fling and would go so far as to say its my favorite flat in the park (I have a feeling Spinsanity will probably take that title soon), so if and when the old girl needs to be sent to that big scrapyard in the sky I hope a newer gen version goes in its place.

Catwoman's Whip is one of the new gen enterprises, right?

Catwoman Whip is a Zamperla Endeavor 48 and is, in fact, the first of it's kind. It is, essentially, Zamperla's tribute to the old Enterprise style rides. However, it produces more vomit than any ride I've ever seen! And I'm not exaggerating!

It is a zamperla endeover not a enterprise sorry got confused or mixed up.

Regardless of model designation, looking it up on YouTube tells me I want to ride it. As big of a baby as I've always been about heights (f' going on drop towers, I DESPISE them) I can be spun around til the cows come home!

Do yourself a favor and refrain from riding it right after you've eaten! Catwoman Whip is to this day the only ride I've ever gotten sick on! After numerous rides I managed to get used to the high G-forces! But the first time I rode it the thing damned near killed me!

Yes sir.

No It's not a 2nd Gen Enterprise. It's a Zamperla Endeavour and a kick butt ride. Nobody has actually installed a 2nd Gen Enterprise in the US, I don't even think anybody has one in the world. It looks cool from the concept videos by Huss

Ah....Tom's Twister....that's a....memory. I'd love to ash old, vintage map of the park in those days. I remember, perhaps incorrectly, that the area it was in was very wooded. I also remember rumors of someone being killed on that ride (not true)...which served to scare us kids even more. Honestly...I'm no longer a fan of being spun. That Catwoman ...no thanks. I've never been on xcaliber either.

I got sent and took a SFSL survey this evening that asked over and over again whether I preferred a Justice League or Wonder Woman theming for a new roller coaster in 2018, and a bunch of questions as to why either or. I know the park sends stuff like this out all the time, but specificity did get the old brain a churning that a Wonder Woman themed coaster would be really cool to see versus another Joker. If it's a 4D freespin the whole Lasso of Truth thing would fit it thematically well...and we all know how much Six Flags like to give identical names for rides that are completely different between parks

Where did you find the survey?
