Six Flags St. Louis (SFStL) Discussion Thread

Reinstall the Chaser Lights and put the Screamin' Eagle Sign back on the Third Hill were it belongs.

and I do miss the Double Up

I hadn't realized the sign had been removed from the hill

You think anyone will notice that the sign returned to its original location?

The chaser lights will be nice, finally being able to see SE on the night skyline

Speaking of lines, I wish Six Flags would remodel both The Boss and Batman's Queue. It's overkill

I've already lost this argument several times. During peak days including event weekends, Fright Fest, or just busy weekends in general, the Queue's on Boss and Batman have been said by employees to fill up. It used to bother me as well... back when I visited the park... but if you think about it, is it really that much on an inconvenience to take a 3-4 minute walk back to the station? I'm sure it is at 15, but when you get older you won't mind so much. Not only that, but it really helps both rides, especially Batman, eat people by the time you get to the station, which is why there was hardly ever more than a station wait on non-peak days.

I'd rather the money be spent on sprucing up the queues, as opposed to completely redesigning them. Especially when you consider Batman, I'm sure it would cost a lot of money to break down concrete, tear out iron railing, redesign the landscaping, and put new concrete/railing in. Adding shortcuts is also costly and will only give line jumpers another route to take, just to save a couple minutes for everyone else.

Maybe not, but a lot of small changes make a big difference. Parks are taking big steps to provide many of the simple touches that all add up to make a vast difference. Even SFMM is jumping on the restoration bandwagon. Also, look at the changes Kings Dominion made to the Candy Apple Grove area an off season or two ago, which looked great when we visited last season. It's not all about 'in-your'face' flare. When your parents drop you off at the park and you marathon rides it's different from when you get older and want to enjoy time with your family/spouse/etc, and these are the people that all of these subtle atmospheric uplifting differences attract. These are also the people who spend the most money within the parks.

Dave was on the right track when he decided to address many of these simple touches. I just wish a large scale modern roller coaster could have come in addition to his many positive changes.

I think that everyone will be pleasantly surprised on opening day with a plethora of changes & improvements. Even though there is a new park president, the park is staying on the same path. I was pretty excited when I got the lowdown on what all is being done this off season.

Josh, any word on the new job?

I got the job, but the timeframe is still up in the air. Not to get too much into my personal life, but I have a couple procedures (one inpatient surgery while the other outpatient) coming up in March & April to hopefully kills a few of the brain tumors and cryogenically freeze the kidney tumor (I'll have kidney cancer the rest of my life, due to my genetic disorder). Whether I live another five years or fifty years, I want to spend it doing what I love. I have a lot of loyalty to Six Flags, especially to certain individuals at the company. It's honestly pretty cool that Jim Reid-Anderson, the President & CEO of Six Flags (who is in the announcement videos), and I have become pen-pals over email. It even takes him less time to respond than it takes me....and the man oversees a company with 30,000 employees.

I'll be talking to the management of HR in the coming days, as I want to work out the best times for them and to see if I can get their "blessing" so to speak. It should be a great summer of Always Smiling And having fun in the shadow(s) of Rollercoasters, a sound that is as refreshing as listening to the waves as the Tide comes in and out.

Best of luck on those procedures Josh, and as always we all appreciate your updates. You are definitely the lifeblood of the SFSTL board. We all wish you the best I am sure.

Maybe referencing Tidal Wave will soon be gone and replaced by a 'ASART' - whatever that is

This could possibly be the removal of Tidal Wave with a replacement that is a roller coaster

^I'll second that. Sending a couple prayers your way. Good luck, bro.

I'll take a wild guess; SFOT is removing La Vibora and sending it to SFSTL in order to make room for our new Intamin Giga coaster to be called

Intimidating Fury 350. Well..... that's my guess.

Now that, I wouldn't mind getting. Those bobsled rides are on my top ten favorite types of rides list
