Six Flags St. Louis (SFStL) Discussion Thread

Recommended Posts

^^ I'm counting you in regardless! I don't think we'll go to the park the first time around, anyway. Just meet/greet.

Figures I'm working nights the weekend of the ACE event. Looks like a lot of fun.

Has anyone ever been to Indiana Beach? I'm thinking about steal a few credits there later this month with a buddy from work.

Due to its age, Scooby Doo needs a LOT of maintenance. So what does the park do? They decided to build a new dark ride that's even cooler than Scooby was originally. Instead of using the off-the-shelf Sally Dark Rides cars like Holiday World, the park is getting really cool looking cars. This ride is going to be awesome. The Scooby facade is completely coming down and loading station being covered. There are also a few great maintenance projects coming for 2015. Complaining about the way Batman plaza looks, especially now that Turbo Bungy is gone? Don't worry, the park is adding/replacing that area (no rides). Don't be all dramatic saying you're giving up hope on the park. Yea, it's not the greatest park, but it is actively getting better faster than it is declining. The park has an amazing B&M and Premier coaster. I see thousands of people every day who are having the time of their lives. You're definitely welcome to your opinion, and I definitely see where they are coming from. However, I think it might be good to be a little bit more optimistic.

I'm curious, what kinds of improvements are they going to do the the Batman plaza in 2015?

In would be nice if they could build a new restaurant in that area..

Maybe a return of the Villains Cafe? The sign is currently in storage behind the Boss and is visible from the train. I highly doubt it though. I'm guessing if it's a restaurant it'll be a restaurant for vegetarians since that seems to be the new trend in the chain.

Picture of it or are there any other hidden things to see in the park?

I am going to be going to Six Flags St. Louis very soon and would like some advice. What days would be the best to go with the least amount of lines? Is there anything cool to see in the park, and are there any remains of rides (like the hanibarrels were) or anything abandoned, rundown, hidden things or secret pathways in the park to see? What order should I ride the rides in? Any magic seats or best seats for any of the rides? Thanks in advance.

This time of year (July) has fairly large crowds every day of the week until the park goes down to weekend only operation. With that being said, Tuesdays through Thursdays have the shortest lines. Remains of rides include the old skyway footers behind Panda Express, the "boneyard" of old ride parts just west of Tidal Wave and Screamin Eagle, and possibly the Insanity Alley Fright Fest maze north of the "spaghetti bowl" of track for Batman. I would definitely get there at opening and go straight to the back of the park and work your way forward. If you end up going to Hurricane Harbor, I would get there at opening to beat the lines on Big Kahuna and Tornado that come about later in the day.

As for the "magic seats," The Boss and Screamin Eagle in the front row will kill some of the roughness, Ninja and American Thunder in the back for airtime, and Pandemonium with an unbalanced car for serious spins. Have a great trip!

I was mainly happy that Villain's Cafe was changed because on two of the giant signs on the side of the building read "Villian's Cafe".

Lol. Somehow I never caught that.

J.B's is really good, at least for Six Flags food. It has become my family's favorite place in the park, with Macho Nacho and Mooseburger the two other ones we frequent.

Tuesdays have worked out great for us lately. We've gotten in the habit of getting to the park about 1 or 2 pm and staying until close. From about 7pm-close most rides are walk ons. Unless you are really interested in the waterpark, I would wait till later in the day to arrive, just my opinion.

Not much else to see, but make sure to take the train ride and you can get a look of some of the storage through the fence and also parts of the "terror Train" that are never put away.

Does that mean it gets slower after weekends-only start? My ideal trip to SFOT includes waits of 10-15 minutes tops on the major coasters, and it's like that pretty much every weekday in the summer except Bring A Friend etc. I was thinking about hitting SFStL for the first time in years but haven't gotten around to it yet and might wait until next summer if the rest of the season is going to be busy. I would probably arrive late afternoon, stay until close, spend the night, go back next day, drive home afternoon. SFFT is open daily for about 2 extra weeks SFStL isn't, if I recall, and I might just do that instead (I live ~7 hours from both).

^ if you have school age children involved with any activities the start of school year is insane. Sports, scouts, clubs etc and all the fundraisers that go along with them. Last year I think we were able to make one Saturday in the fall.

As much as I like rides, it is also nice to go out in the fall and a enjoy the other type of parks, you know Nature. Crossing a creek on a downed tree offers a unique thrill, no lapbar.

^^^ Seems like I'm not the only one thinking it, since you posted it right as I was making my post below.

Who Cares, Look what Kings Island has done this year, SDC last year, and now Holiday World next year!! With Thunderbird, B&M's First Launched Wingrider going to Holiday World next year, Six Flags is just falling behind cause they don't care about our park. They laugh at us in every possible way, even name our park Six Flags St. Louis, the only one in the who chain without a creative title, like Magic Mountain, Great America, Great Adventure, Discovery Kingdom, ect.... Things started falling apart after they took away Over Mid-America, and after the Boss was put in. Total neglect, it makes me sick. I'll be at HW, KI, and SDC next year, screw six flags

Another one bites the dust.

Although better points could have been made..... I get it. Next up : Worlds of Fun. I'd imagine it will only be a matter of time before they get a new steel coaster that will again draw even more people away from our park. After that, I'd assume Great America will get another new coaster before we do. I wouldn't even be surprised if KK will receive another completely new coaster before us.

X-Flight, Outlaw Run, Lightning Run, Goliath, and now Thunderbird. What people considered a "small scale" park now looks more appealing than our park.

Refurbishment of a dark ride and possibly the addition of the Justice League - aka same ride different theming? L.O.L. I'm with ARoss510 on this one. Who the hell cares? Next year will be my fourth year in a row without visiting the park and I haven't missed a thing.

Still waiting for the next One.Big.Thing...........

So sad that it comes to this. You have to think about how many rides we have received that have been relocated. I'm not even talking about clones. Superman, Xcalibur, NINJA, yeah Ninja was a relocation.... Boomerang, ect.... Seriously, is there anyway we could all join forces and have a petition signed to boycott this place?????

I am sure the bean counters at SF Corporate are chomping Xanax over the possibility that a couple of hundred (at most) TPR posters are boycotting. Another bankruptcy looms.

Let me know how it works out for you. Change.org

Most of us are a little pissed off, but this won't do anything..... When McDonalds doesn't come out with the type of hamburger you're craving you don't create a petition. You take your business somewhere else that serves the type of food you crave.

Let them run their business the way they want. No one is forcing you to give them your money.
