Finally Buying a House

In 98 me and the now deceased other half looked at 300!

We looked from 1 end of San Diego county to the other.

 

Talk about the crazy market, we bought for 280,000.00. after his passing and probate over i sold it for 420,000.00.

Dude, you got a little ways to go.

 

Don't rush unless you really have to. Your certainly gonna have to live with your purchase. Don't buy something that needs major work like a new roof unless you have the cash to easily put into it. You will most likely want to spend that money on new furniture and nd stuff.

 

When your realtor gets better, they should be working to get you into as many homes that match your criteria as possible.

If not, then you might want to try another realtor.

 

Don't forget to try and have fun while looking. Thats probably how we looked at 300.

^The goal is to be out of our apartment by the end of Jan. And were only looking at houses that are in our neighrborhood now. It's a very desirable and well established neighborhood. If you don't grab houses fast in Sacramento, someone else will get them within a few hours or even minutes.

 

It doesnt' mean were not being cautious though.

^Yeah, it would be pretty sweet to just soak and drink some brews. Id' have to redo the deck though. Which, I wouldn't mind doing. I've also wanted to be a home owner and do all my own stuff.

Altight... so our realtor felt better today. So we looked at a few houses today.

 

We looked at #4, which I thought would be an awesome house, but it was an absolute shit hole. Not worth the $405 there asking for. Not at all.

 

But the good news so far is, WE PLACED A BID FOR A HOUSE!!!! YEAH!

We did the contract today and should know if the sellers accepted our offer by 5pm tomorrow.

I don't know if this apply to California, but in Canada, hiring an architect can be the same price as buying a used/new house. You can have it exactly like you want... maybe you could give it a try if you offer don't get accepted !

The reply to our bid of $370 was counter offered by the seller to $385.

Congrats! Get prepared to get really familiar with your local Home Depot, as you'll no doubt be taking up all sorts of improvement projects. We're always doing something to our place. We're looking at having an addition put on here. Had an architect out to do a survey and preliminary plans and all that.
