I Set My Friends on Fire/Sex Ed Rocks

There comes an time in every mans life..

Where he grows hair, where it used to be bare...

I know your feeling weird, but you should be happy..

If you had an vaginia, that would be crappie..

Cause periods suck,and comas rule..

This is sex education, not grammar fool..

If she gives you affection..

You better wear protection, that skant might have an infection..

Are you paying close attention,in sex edd,in sex edd..

Remeber what your read, just forget what the others said..

Use your head, use your brain before you go to bed..

It only takes one sperm cell..

To make an baby..

And you think they are cute, you must be crazy..

They have the abilty to poop and cry, even the abilty to pee in your eye..

They have the abilty to poop and cry, even the abilty to pee in your eye..

Oh my god it burnss...

Don't even mention the risk of getting STD's..

Not gross cause hooker's have them, maybe Denis Rodman could get abit..

If you don't know who Denis Rodman is,then you maybe watch more basketball..

Wait an second this song isn't about sports..

QUICK FACT!! You can't get an girl to wear these shorts..

If she gives protection, you better wear protection..

That skant might have an infection, are you paying close attention..

In sex edd,in sex edd..

Remeber what you read, just forget what the others have said..

Get through your head, use your brain before you go to bed..

Suburban War - Arcade Fire

Let’s go for a drive and see the town tonight

There’s nothing to do but I don’t mind when I’m with you

This town’s so strange they built it to change

And while we sleep we know the streets get rearranged

With my old friends it was so different then

Before your war against the suburbs began

Before it began

Now the music divides us into tribes

You grew your hair so I grew mine

You said the past won’t rest

Until we jump the fence and leave it behind

With my old friends I can remember when

You cut your hair, I never saw you again

Now the cities we live in could be distant stars

And I search for you in every passing car

The night’s so long

Yeah the night’s so long

I’ve been living in the shadows of your song

Been living in the shadows of your song

In the suburbs I, I learned to drive

And you told me we’d never survive,

So grab your mother’s keys we leave tonight

But you started a war that we can’t win

They keep erasing all the streets we grew up in

Now the music divides us into tribes

You choose your side, I’ll choose my side

All my old friends they don’t know me now

All my old friends are staring through me now

All my old friends they don’t know me now

All my old friends they don’t know me now

They don’t know me now

All my old friends, wait…

I could just see Prince Harry pestering the DJ to play this at big bro Willie's wedding reception:

"God Save The Queen" by The Sex Pistols

God save the queen

The fascist regime

They made you a moron

Potential H-bomb

God save the queen

She ain't no human being

There is no future

In England's dreaming

Don't be told what you want

Don't be told what you need

There's no future, no future,

No future for you

God save the queen

We mean it man

We love our queen

God saves

God save the queen

'Cause tourists are money

And our figurehead

Is not what she seems

Oh God save history

God save your mad parade

Oh Lord God have mercy

All crimes are paid

When there's no future

How can there be sin

We're the flowers in the dustbin

We're the poison in your human machine

We're the future, your future

God save the queen

We mean it man

We love our queen

God saves

God save the queen

We mean it man

And there is no future

In England's dreaming

No future, no future,

No future for you

No future, no future,

No future for me

No future, no future,

No future for you

No future, no future

For you

I'll show you where God falls asleep on the job

Awesome song! In fact, the lyrics on every song on that album are amazing.

Now for my own lyrics...

Crush-Pendulum

I was running out in the cold light, wondering where to go

To run away without you

All my fear is coming home

Having squint out from the show

You can beat me

I will become you tonight

I was wandering under black skies, wretched as once was mine

No control left to lose

When I thought that it would defeat me, marauding like a child

I feel so guilty

I'll make it up to you tonight

...

Plus ones by Okkerville River gas amazing lyrics, start to finish, as well.

Little Lion Man by Mumford and Sons is currently my favorite song,

Weep for yourself, my man,

You'll never be what is in your heart

Weep, little lion man,

You're not as brave as you were at the start

Rate yourself and rake yourself

Take all the courage you have left

Wasted on fixing all the problems that you made in your own head

But it was not your fault but mine

And it was your heart on the line

I really f**ked it up this time

Didn't I, my dear?

Didn't I, my dear?

Tremble for yourself, my man,

You know that you have seen this all before

Tremble, little lion man,

You'll never settle any of your scores

Your grace is wasted in your face,

Your boldness stands alone among the wreck

Now learn from your mother or else spend your days biting your own neck

But it was not your fault but mine

And it was your heart on the line

I really f**ked it up this time

Didn't I, my dear?

Imagine there's no Heaven

It's easy if you try

No hell below us

Above us only sky

Imagine all the people

Living for today

Imagine there's no countries

It isn't hard to do

Nothing to kill or die for

And no religion too

Imagine all the people

Living life in peace

You may say that I'm a dreamer

But I'm not the only one

I hope someday you'll join us

And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions

I wonder if you can

No need for greed or hunger

A brotherhood of man

Imagine all the people

Sharing all the world

You may say that I'm a dreamer

But I'm not the only one

I hope someday you'll join us

And the world will live as one .

Ok, I feel I should let you know that music is one of my “Chatty Kathy” buttons, along with coasters and hockey. I can talk for days, weeks, and maybe even years about music and never get tired of it. So if you have a minute please read this rant since I’m bored and have nothing better to do today haha.

Being a poet/lyricist myself I can’t pick just one favorite lyric, but I can say a few of the writers that truly inspire me. First is Corey Taylor of Stone Sour and Slipknot (and true fans know he formed Audacious P, a Tenacious D cover band ). His style perfectly co-mingles anger and happiness, hate and love, envy and lust. He pours every last bit of emotion and then some into the words he spills onto the paper, and usually goes to that emotion when singing it. Those of you familiar with Slipknot’s “Snuff” know what an emotional song that is, and if you’ve seen the making of for that video you see Corey literally break down crying after filming the scene where he shatters the glass in his hands.

Slipknot – “Snuff”

So break yourself against my stones

And spit your pity in my soul

You never needed any help

You sold me out to save yourself

And I won't listen to your shame

You ran away - you're all the same

Angels lie to keep control...

My love was punished long ago

If you still care, don't ever let me know

If you still care, don't ever let me know...

Another good example of Corey’s writing is Stone Sour’s “Miracles”, which is a back and forth between himself and his inner self trying to understand why this un-named person is gone. What he did, what they did, to get to this point of needing a miracle to fix things. These two examples only show the sadder side of his writings, he has many more examples of anger, confusion, love, etc. but I don’t want to ramble on too much.

Stone Sour – “Miracles”

I've seen it all and I know better -

I've felt the bitterness and pain

My soul keeps changing like the weather -

the only constant is the rain

I've known your black and white intentions

and there's no room for shades of gray

I never asked you to conform to me...

I only begged for you to stay

My next major influence is going to have to be Neil Peart of Rush. This man has literally been to hell and back and managed to find ways to document his travels. For those of you who don’t know, Neil had a very tragic few years in the mid to late 90’s. His daughter, his only child, was on her way to her first year of college and was in a car accident resulting in a tragic end to her very young life. This took a toll on both he and his wife obviously, but it seemed to hit his wife more. She went into a severe depression and never returned. Six months after the loss of his daughter, his wife passed from cancer. To this day he believes her passing wasn’t the cancer spreading throughout her body, but the depression devouring everything she knew and loved leaving her not wanting any reason to live. This sent Neil spiraling out of control, questioning why he was still on this Earth and searching for a reason to live. He spent 14 months travelling North America by motorcycle in search of this reason. Music was one of the reasons he found. I HIGHLY suggest reading his book about these travels (or any of his books for that matter, they are all very, very good) called “Ghost Rider”, and my first set of lyrics comes from the song of the same name off of the Vapor Trails album.

Rush – “Ghost Rider”

Just an escape artist

Racing against the night

A wandering hermit

Racing toward the light

Neil has a way of describing things in ways that shouldn’t fit into songs. His vocabulary is so vast that I find myself learning new words almost every time I study his material. The way he can explain things that many people take for granted with words that nobody uses fascinates me. But he also has a way of making things so simple it’s almost moronic. His outlook on life is simple, we are here because we are here and we just need to take the chances and learn from the mistakes. “Roll the Bones” is one of my favorite songs by Rush.

Rush – “Roll the Bones”

Why are we here?

Because we're here

Roll the bones

Why does it happen?

Because it happens

Roll the bones

I’m a huge fan of “New Rush”, as I’ve heard it described. The newer, more rock n’ roll, style of albums like “Test for Echo” and “Vapor Trails” catches my interest every time I listen. This of course is breaking away from the progressive rock that brought them fame with albums like “A Farewell to Kings” and the infamous “2112” with epic 10+ minute songs and long stories told over the course of the album. My favorite of the older lyrics is “Discovery” from 2112.

What can this strange device be?

When I touch it, it gives forth a sound

It's got wires that vibrate and give music

What can this thing be that I found?

See how it sings like a sad heart

And joyously screams out its pain

Sounds that build high like a mountain

Or notes that fall gently like rain

I can't wait to share this new wonder

The people will all see its light

Let them all make their own music

The Priests praise my name on this night

This to me is what true music and writing should be about. To me you shouldn’t be able to get fame and fortune because you have a pretty face and can play a catchy song somebody else wrote. You should have to earn respect by pouring your heart and soul into every song you write and allowing people to see your emotions, both in your writing and in the notes you put together in song. Now I understand the idea behind pop music and admittedly I’m a sucker for some good radio rock but music can be so much more. Sully Erna, singer/guitarist/lyricist for Godsmack, describes it best on his solo album “Avalon”. On the inside cover of the album is a few paragraphs of his description of what music means to him. To paraphrase it, music is unknown. We don’t know why it affects us the way it does. We don’t know why the minor chords sound sad and the major chords sound happy. We simply do not know. What is known is the emotion felt with every note. Music has a way of describing things that cannot be put into words. This is why classical music like Bach, Beethoven, Wagner, and the rest are able to take you on this journey of every emotion possible. You’re not sure why you’re feeling a certain way when listening to a certain song but you know you feel it. Lyrics have the ability add to this emotion leaving you with 2+ minutes of sheer musical bliss. My love of lyrics, if done correctly, is they can be so specific yet so broad at the same time. To me if somebody can relate to my lyrics then I’ve done my job. 99% of what I’ve written comes from personal experience and situations I’ve been in, but I like to word them so that hopefully everyone can relate to them in one way or another.

Music to me is beautiful. Lyrics and poems to me are beautiful. Personally I believe that if more people took a moment to actually look into what music truly is then the world would be a happier place. Music is the one thing that can tie any race, religion, ethnicity, country, state, gender, and so many more categories together simply because we all feel it the same way. Thanks for reading my rant

For Real-Okkerville River

Some nights I thirst for real blood

For real knives

For real cries

And then the flash of steel from real guns

In real life

Really fills my mind

And I really miss what really did exist

When I held your throat so tight

And I miss the bus as it swerved from us

Almost came crashing to its side

Sometimes the blood from real cuts

Feels real nice

When it's really mine

And if you want it to be real

Come over for one night

And we can really, really climb

And those blue bridge lights might really burn most bright

As we watch that dark lake rise

And if you really want to see what really matters most to me

Just take a real short drive

It's just a drive into the dark stretch

Long stretch of night

Will really stretch this shaking mind

And this room, unlit, unheated

And the ceiling striped

And the dark black blinds

I want to know this time if you’re really finally mine

I need to know that you're not lying so I want to see you tried

And I don't want to hear you say it shouldn’t really be this way

'Cause I like this way just fine

'Cause there’s nothing quite like the blinding light

That curtains cast aside

And no attempt is made to explain away

The things that really, really, really, really, really are behind

You can't hide

You can't hide

You can't hide

You can't hide

You can't hide

You can't hide

Okkerville River literally tried to see how many times they could use the word "real" in one song and still be coherent. And thus you get this absolute masterpiece.

Simply amazing. Indie rock is not dead.

Also, thumbs up for Little Lion Man!

Guns n' Roses: Patience

(1..2...1,2,3,4)

Shed a tear 'cause I'm missing you

I'm still alright to smile

Girl, I think about you every day now

Was a time when I wasn't sure

But you set my mind at ease

There is no doubt you're in my heart now

Said woman take it slow

It'll work itself out fine

All we need is just a little patience

Said sugar make it slow

And we'll come together fine

All we need is just a little patience

(inhale) Patience...

Ooh, oh, yeah

Sit here on the stairs

'Cause I'd rather be alone

If I can't have you right now, I'll wait dear

Sometimes, I get so tense

But I can't speed up the time

But you know, love, there's one more thing to consider

Said woman take it slow

Things will be just fine

You and I'll just use a little patience

Said sugar take the time

'Cause the lights are shining bright

You and I've got what it takes to make it

We won't fake it, Oh never break it

'Cause I can't take it

...little patience, mm yeah, ooh yeah,

Need a little patience, yeah

Just a little patience, yeah

Some more pati... (ence, yeah)

I've been walking these streets at night

Just trying to get it right (Need some patience, yeah)

It's hard to see with so many around

You know I don't like being stuck in a crowd (Could use some patience, yeah)

And the streets don't change but maybe the name

I ain't got time for the game

'Cause I need you (Patience, yeah)

Yeah, yeah well I need you

Oh, I need you (Take some patience)

Whoa, I need you (Just a little patience is all we need)

Ooh, this ti- me....

Cruel Cruel World - Prozzak

I saw you standing there

I've seen your face before

You don't know who I am

But I could give you more

You're laughing with your friends

You tell them you're in love

But you're not fooling me

The joke is on yourself

It's a cruel, cruel world

When you're on your own

It's a cold, cold heart

That could turn you down

It's a cruel, cruel world

When you're on your own

If you need a friend

I could be the one

But you don't know me

Not at all

I looked for you today

You're nowhere to be found

I wonder if you're okay

There's something going 'round

Maybe you moved away

You looked a little down

When I saw you last Sunday

When I didn't make a sound

It's a cruel, cruel world

When you're on your own

It's a cold, cold heart

That could turn you down

It's a cruel, cruel world

When you're on your own

If you need a friend

I could be the one

But you don't know me

Not at all

Seriously amazing lyrics. Kind of a depressing song, though. My interpretation is that Simon (the singer) is secretly in love with a girl, and secretly, she loves him too. Neither of them speak up to each other, and one day, she is gone. This song is a remorse about his decisions; or maybe even a letter asking her to come back.

Mat Kearny- Down

It took his breath away holding the bank page

He got the letter they’re gonna take their house away

I’m bout to have a daughter he yells it in the air

Feeling the weight of a world that just don’t care

He lit a cigarette felt in on his lip

Driving home on a long road with regret

He pulls the window down shouts it out loud

Pushing the pedal and praying lord help us now

He’s looking for a reason watching the sun coming down

Can you hear when we call

There where we fall

Standing our backs against the wall

Top of our lungs hallelujah

Where pain and love bleed into one

Baby when all you see is darkness

We all need forgiveness

Coming round now

http://www.hotnewsonglyrics.com/mat-kearney-down-lyrics.html

It was Monday night under the street lights

She’s turning seventeen in seven nights

Out on the fairgrounds walking in monotone

She kicks a bottle as empty as her soul

On the road alone in a house that’s half home

They give her pills just to kill when she feels alone

She’s looking for a reason watching the sun coming down

Take these broken streets

Take these broken dreams

Hold my hand like we we’re walking free

Tell me it will change I see it in your face

The hope the fear the love the faith

I’m working late again slaving to make the rent

I’m slanging coffee with dreams heavy as cement

They’re coming one by one the face of falling love

I write a song with a prayer as I slide the cup

Can you hear when we call

There where we fall

Standing our backs against the wall

Top of our lungs hallelujah

Where pain and love bleed into one

Baby when all you see is darkness

Coming down now

We all need forgiveness

Can you hear when we call

There were we fall

Standing our backs against the wall

At the Top of our lungs how far we’ve come

Were pain and love bleed into one

All that we need its so bitter sweet

The pain that opens our eyes to see

Baby when all you see is darkness

Coming down now

We all need forgiveness

Coming round now

The one lyric that immediately comes to mind, is There is light ... by The Smiths.

Take me out tonight

where there's music and there's people

who are young and alive

driving in your car

I never never want to go home

because I haven't got one

anymore

take me out tonight

because I want to see people and I

want to see lights

driving in your car

oh please don't drop me home

because it's not my home, it's their

home, and I'm welcome no more

and if a double-decker bus

crashes into us

to die by your side

such a heavenly way to die

and if a ten ton truck

kills the both of us

to die by your side

the pleasure and the privilege is mine

take me out tonight

oh take me anywhere, I don't care

and in the darkened underpass

I thought Oh God, my chance has come at last

(but then a strange fear gripped me and I

just couldn't ask)

take me out tonight

take me anywhere, I don't care

just driving in your car

I never never want to go home

because I haven't got one

I haven't got one

Song: Roter Sand (Eng: Red Sand)

Artist: Rammstein

For those who only speak English (not translated literally, some changes were made due to differing grammatical structures between English and German.)

One love, one promise, I said I'd come back to you.

Well, unfortunately, I must break it, his bullet sticks in me.

One love, two pistols, one points in my face.

He said I have stolen you, he doesn't know that you love me.

Red sand and two rounds, one dies in gunpowder's kiss.

The second which didn't spare its target, now sticks deep in my chest.

One love, one promise, oh the blood runs from my mouth.

And no one will avenge me, senselessly I'm perishing.

One love, two pistols, one could have pulled faster.

Well, it wasn't me, now you belong to him.

Red sand and two rounds, one dies in gunpowder's kiss.

The second which didn't spare its target, now sticks deep in my chest.

Red sand and white doves restore themselves in my blood.

At the end is there but an end. Finally, I'm good for something.

Red sand and two rounds, one dies in gunpowder's kiss.

The second which didn't spare its target, now sticks deep in my chest.

Man, Red is just a goldmine for inspirational lyrics.

"You put my back agaist the wall

Watching, waiting

You never thought I'd get this far

Beneath your skin

I watched you swim with all your lies

That pulled you under

And as you wait for my demise

I'm just getting stronger

Learning who you really are

And nothing can save you

I will fight until the end

Get ready to collide

And I will watch you fall again

I'll bury you alive

You try to bring me to my knees

Trying to take it all

Now I will stand and watch you crawl

I'll put you back where you belong

Hopeless, fading

And I will rise while you become the monster you have fed

I'll let you drown in your despair

And now nothing can save you

I will fight until the end

Get ready to collide

And I will watch you fall again

I'll bury you alive

You try to being me to my knees

Trying to take it all

Now I will stand and watch you crawl

I'm still here

Now I watch you beg

I will fight until the end

Get ready to collide

And I will watch you fall again

I'll bury you alive

You try to bring me to my knees

Trying to take it all

Now I will stand and watch you crawl"

"There is Still Hope" by The Sound of Arrows <-- A new group out of Sweden!

Through the fear and fire

Past love and lust for gold

Within the darkest hour

There is still hope

And in the dead of night

Out somewhere in the sky

The sun will always shine

Burning with hope

And it will never ever go away

After all their lies

And how it haunted me

And what they made me be

There was still hope

Following the wind

To make it possible

Deep down I knew

That's what I'll do

'Cause it will never ever go away

When all is dead

You're feeling mislead

Just let it go, let it go away

Words they said

Have gone to your head

Just let it go away

Through the fear and fire

Past love and lust for gold

Within the darkest hour

There is still hope

That you'll come back to me

And you would never ever go away

When all is dead

You're feeling mislead

Just let it go, let it go away

Words they said

Have gone to your head

Just let it go away

Now feel my heart it's racing

Carrying the flame

All my bones are aching

I'll never be the same

Climbing up the endless

Learn to be your own

Drums sounding like thunder

Bring the boys back home

I've been addicted to this song for like a week....

How about a 23 minute song?

I. The Crimson Sunrise

(Instrumental)

II. Innocence

I remember a time

My frail, virgin mind

watched the crimson sunrise

Imagined what it might find

Life was filled with wonder

I felt the warm wind blow

I must explore the boundaries

Transcend the depth of winter's snow

Innocence caressing me

I never felt so young before

There was so much life in me

Still I longed to search for more

But those days are gone now

Changed like a leaf on a tree

Blown away forever

into the cool autumn breeze

The snow has now fallen

and my sun's not so bright

I struggle to hold on

with the last of my might

In my den of inequity

viciousness and subtlety

struggle to ease the pain

struggle to find the sane

Ignorance surrounding me

I've never been so filled with fear

All my life's been drained from me

The end is drawing near....

III. Carpe Diem

'Carpe diem, seize the day'

I'll always remember

The chill of November

The news of the fall

The sounds in the hall

The clock on the wall ticking away

'Seize the Day'

I heard him say

Life will not always be this way

Look around

Hear the sounds

Cherish your life while you're still around

"Gather ye rosebuds while ye may,

Old Time is still a-flying;

And this same flower that smiles today,

Tomorrow will be dying."

We can learn from the past

But those days are gone

We can hope for the future

But there may not be one

The words stuck in my mind

alive from what I've learned

I have to seize the day

To home I returned

Preparing for her flight

I held with all my might

Fearing my deepest fright

She walked into the night

She turned for one last look

She looked me in the eye

I said, 'I Love You...Good-bye'

"It's the most awful thing you'll

ever hear."

"If you're lying to me..."

"Oh, you dearly love her."

"...just have to leave... all our lives."

"Seize the day!"

"Something happened.

"Gather ye rosebuds while ye may."

"She was killed."

IV. The Darkest of Winters

(Instrumental)

V. Another World

So far or so it seems

All is lost with nothing fulfilled

Off the pages and a T.V. screen

Another world where nothing's true

Tripping through the life fantastic

Lose a step and never get up

Left alone with a cold blank stare

I feel like giving up

I was blinded by a paradise

Utopia high in the sky

A dream that only drowned me

Deep in sorrow, wondering why

Oh come let us adore him

Abuse and then ignore him

No matter what, don't let him be

Let's feed upon his misery

Then string him up for all the world to see

I'm sick of all you hypocrites

holding me at bay

And I don't need your sympathy

to get me through the day

Seasons change and so can I

Hold on boy, No time to cry

Untie these strings, I'm climbing down

I won't let them push me away

Oh come let us adore him

Abuse and then ignore him

No matter what, don't let him be

Let's feed upon his misery

Now it's time for them to deal with me

VI. The Inevitable Summer

(Instrumental)

VII. The Crimson Sunset

I'm much wiser now

A lifetime of memories

run through my head

They taught me how

for better or worse, alive or dead

I realize there's no turning back

Life goes on the offbeaten track

I sit down with my son

Set to see the Crimson Sunset

(Gather ye rosebuds while ye may)

Many years have come and gone

I've lived my life, but now must move on

(Gather ye rosebuds while ye may)

He is my only one

Now that my time has come

Now that my life is done

We look into the sun

'Seize the day and don't you cry,

Now it's time to say good-bye

Even though I'll be gone,

I will live on, live on.'

"A Change of Seasons" by Dream Theater. The most life affirming song I've ever come by.
