Erik Johnson
Well I have been really busy at work this week so I was unable to hit IOA for my regualar update. Since I was in Ocala all day today I figured why not stop by the location where the official Walt Disney World welcome center is and take a few pictures. Some of you may know it closed about 4 months ago. It was mostly a place where people could get Disney tickets and make reservations before they even reached the park with it another 90 miles or so further south. Now that we have the internet, the center became obsolete. So they closed it. It did have a Disney merchandise store inside the building as well. Here is a link you can check out: http://www.themouseforless.com/newsletter/05/issue006B.shtml And here is what it looks like now: Poor Mickey This is what is sad. They still have not taken down this old sign. I think most people use the internet now. Paper in all the windows. Yep, all shut down. Oh well, looks like nobody is around any more. Looks like they finally changed (or covered) the old sign. That is the old sign from SR200 in the distance.
USRoadTripper
My trip to Florida in two weeks will be my first trip since this has been closed. It was always such a nice little pit stop to get you in the Disney mood before you got to property. Granted we never used the services there...we just liked to browse the shop and watch the little movie. I'll miss it even if no one else does. -Julie

dandaman
We always used to stop at the Welcome Centre on the way down... our two main "other" destinations on the road in Florida were Ocala, and the Florida Visitor's Centre for orange juice!
