Disneyland Paris (DLP) Discussion Thread

p. 53 - Symphony of Color drone show and daytime parade announced!

Recommended Posts

We had one day the first week of June at DLP last year. It was a Tues and a slight rain was falling as we arrived at the park at noon from our trip from center Paris. Bu the time we got though the gate it was over. We hit Studios first and it was so uncrowded, breezed through the place riding everything open multiple time except Crush's. It still had a 30 to 40 minute waits it was a one and done. We hopped over to The Castle park and crushed it without even trying. We never felt like we were rushing thing were nearly walk on or walk on. We rode Big Thunder at several different points in the day include the twilight before were positioned for the fireworks and they were great with the water added in. We got in 6 rides on Big Thunder and I is a blast for what it is. All in a little mopre than a half day. That also speaks volumes about it's size as well.

^^ I would say their Pirates/Caribbean is a pretty good stand-out attraction, as well as BTM. The history of it is, the Imagineers planned this, in the actual way (and order of scenes) they wanted to do it. And that includes the drop into the action of the cannon battle on the water. And the caves with pirate skeletons at the end. We love this version of it.

We haven't been to Shanghai DL, so we can't compare that one to the others. But we do know the awesomeness of ShDL's version, including how it works, etc.

Come to think of it, the whole of Frontierland in DLP is themed towards Phantom Manor and it's owner/story line, etc. Including Big Thunder. That's a pretty cool way to do a "Land" based on a single story, which Disney Paris does, wonderfully!

Disney has officially announced that Disneyland Paris will be getting one of Europe's largest solar panel installations, with the first phase to be completed in 2021!

https://disneylandparis-news.com/en/one-of-the-largest-european-solar-canopy-plants-coming-to-disneyland-paris/

ONE OF THE LARGEST EUROPEAN SOLAR CANOPY PLANTS COMING TO DISNEYLAND PARIS

Ambitious solar energy initiative will reduce Val d’Europe local territory emissions of CO2 by 750 tons per year, marking a new milestone in Disneyland Paris’ environmental commitment.

On World Energy Day, Disneyland Paris announced the phased development of one of the largest solar canopy plants in Europe – together through a co-investment with French company Urbasolar – as part of a continued commitment to environmental stewardship. Located at the resort’s main guest parking lot, the project will contribute to the reduction of Val d’Europe local territory greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by approximatively 750 tons of CO2 per year* while providing additional guest enhancements, including shade and shelter from direct sunlight, rain or snow. Construction began in July and is expected to be completed in 2023, with a first milestone for the first phase in spring 2021.

“Environmental innovation and stewardship are a tradition that began with Walt Disney himself, and this ambitious solar power project is the latest in our commitment to the environment at Disneyland Paris,” said Natacha Rafalski, President of Disneyland Paris. “It is our responsibility as a business and leading tourist destination to contribute to the long-term sustainability of our resort and the region through environmentally responsible practices.”

The solar power plant at Disneyland Paris is in collaboration with French company Urbasolar through a co-investment and will encompass 17 hectares (42 acres) of solar canopies, using 67,500 solar panels for a production of 31 gigawatt-hours per year (GWh/year). While this is not only allocated to the resort, it is technically enough renewable clean energy to account for about 17% of the resort’s current electricity consumption and equivalent to the annual energy consumption of a city with about 14,500 inhabitants**. Once the full project is completed, a section of it will light up at night in the shape of a Mickey Mouse head, visible from the sky.

^ Ever since visiting Rainbow Magicland in Italy I've wondered why more places aren't investing in huge solar panel farms for their parking lots, ESPECIALLY here in Vegas.  We have so many uncovered lots that result in your car baking at 150 degrees.  Throw up some coverage, stick some panels on there, rake in the free electricity and happy customers.

France has ordered all non essential businesses to close so today will be the last day the park is open before it closes down for the second time.  They're taking reservations for a potential reopening during the winter holiday rush and then it seems no matter what the Corona situation is will close for a month after the New Year holiday.

Quote

In line with latest direction from the French authorities, Disneyland Paris will be closing end of day on October 29th. In anticipation of celebrating the Christmas holiday season we will be taking reservations from December 19 – January 3 and hope to be open based on prevailing conditions and government guidance at that time. Disneyland Paris will be closed from January 4 through February 12. Please check back on the website for regular updates. If you have a booking with us during the above-mentioned periods, please check here for our latest commercial conditions.
We thank you for your continued loyalty and understanding during this difficult period.

I have a future holiday at Disneyland Paris with an arrival from 30 October 2020 to 18 December or from 4 January to 12 February 2021. What does that mean for my holiday?

We are unable to welcome you to Disneyland Paris during this period and therefore need to cancel your holiday.

You can postpone your trip and decide to make a new booking. We will transfer your balance to the new booking, and we will refund the difference if the price is lower, or you will need to pay the difference if the price is higher. Otherwise, we will refund your booking in full.

If you hold a reservation for an arrival date during the closure period, we are happy to offer the option to rebook at the current available rate for arrivals from 13 February to 31 March 2021. Your booking price will be adjusted accordingly.

Anyone see the recent photos/info Disney/Pixar have released, about the upcoming Route 66 Tours that will still (thankfully) feature Catastrophe Canyon, in WDS?

I think they are starting a "storyline in motion", with the photo below. It shows a rack of Radiator Springs places to go, buy, etc.

But the postcard for (heh) Carstastrophe Canyon has an obvious X across the front card...

Hmmm. I think that this is Radiator Springs Tourism saying NOT to visit the Canyon. At - all.

But still planting the seed of what's to happen if we take the tour.

I love it even more than I do already, if that's the way this is going! 😁

p.s. I love the idea of more solar paneling being placed in parking lot areas of parks. Such an easy idea, for free power!

(SPOILER RUMOR ALERT! I bet it will have something to do with a blocked tour road, and our having to take "the other 'unused' road", etc. <grin> )

Cars04.jpg.550d0107143deee3e148bb144c955e86.jpg

Yep, that's definitely an X over that postcard. Hmmm......

Art concept of the "ticket/info booth" and covered queue for The Route 66 Tour. Where the info.flyers rack will (probably) be.

Disneyland Paris had an Inside ears fan event last night talking about upcoming projects in 2021.

Buzz Lightyear Laser Blast has been under refurbishment for almost a year now and will open in February 2021 with completely renovated and modernized lighting, black light paint, vehicles, all the animatronics as well as completely refurbishing the buildings facade.

The rethemed Hotel New York - The Art of Marvel will also open next year.

The rethemed Backlot tour will open as Cars: Route 66 Road Trip

And there is also a new show coming to the studios park: Disney jr. Dream Factory

Sleeping Beauty Castle will undergo a full refurbishment starting in January 2021 until the parks 30th anniversary (2022). This will include a full repainting, replacing some of the turrets and fixing all the little details. (The castle will be covered in a massive themed tarp and the inside of the castle will still be accessible during the refurb).

The resort is also currently working on new permanent security buildings, to do this two big planters are being removed (Just before you enter Fantasia Gardens where a gate used to be) This will replace the ugly tents they currently have.

New turnstiles are also being installed to the entrance of Disneyland Park. (These have been tested in a small section in the entrance to the Studios park in the past year and are much better than the old ones, especially for people with strollers and wheelchairs.

And finally a collectible key and a book will be released next year for Space Mountain. What is interesting about this is that books for Pirates of the Caribbean and Phantom Manor have been released when they went through massive refurbishments, so maybe this is a sign of Space Mountain finally returning to it's original theme which have been rumored for a while, and also the new trains they installed in 2017 screams Jules Verne so there might be hope 😁

Disneyland Paris have pushed back their planned 13th February opening to at least the beginning of April due to the ongoing coronavirus outbreak in Europe:

"Due to the prevailing conditions in Europe, Disneyland Paris will not reopen on the 13th of February as initially planned. If you have a booking with us during the closing period, please check our website for our latest commercial conditions.

"If conditions permit, we will reopen Disneyland Paris on the 2nd of April 2021 and will welcome reservations from that date forward. Given the current context our plans continue to evolve, but please know that we will make every effort to share with you any updates as soon as it is possible.

"Please check back on the website for regular updates. We thank you for your continued loyalty and understanding during this difficult period."

That's too bad, extending the closure. 🏰

But when all is said and done, it's all for the best, to eventually beat this thing, right?

(And we're still hoping for a September 2022 visit, along with Walibi Holland)

^ Well, DLPR's birthday is April 12th. And Disneyland's is July 17th.  I think Disney Paris' date will continue to change, for awhile. Disneyland has a good chance at least, of re-opening around it's July birthday. Or sooner..... Or later. 😉

My RETRO DLPR: Me and The Mountain, mid-Sept. 2002, DLP's 10th Birthday Year. Mountain got a reno & re-paint, later on.

And the new Studios' (then) "Half-Day Park" (truth!) was only six - months - old. Rock 'n Roller was good back then, I remember.

...and Thank You DLP-Report for posting this! I love this entire 'cloaking' of the DLP Castle!

Awesome way to do renovation! Hope somebody's collecting all these "Castle/Park Scrims" pix somewhere...

What they did with Phantom Manor, during it's (then) lengthy rehab. Bizarre looking stuff, huh? And I love the reflection of 'it' in the waterway.

Disneyland Paris seems to be wasting no time during the closure of the resort, they seem to be fixing everything :)

- New themed umbrellas for restaurants

- Snow White ride is being fully repainted

- Technical updates for a more comfortable ride on Indiana Jones (whatever that means)

- Work on It's a small world's fountain

Repaving of the entrance plaza for Walt Disney Studios is almost complete

Buzz Lightyears's refurb is almost done, the facade have received a new design at the entrance (Seems to be more fitting with Discoveryland's theme than the old design)

As soon as they are done with Buzz they will start a complete refurb of Orbitron, and after this Space Mountain is rumored to be getting a new theme and refurb :)

- Sequoia Lodge is getting it's facade refurbished

- Newport Bay is getting a redesigned entrance area and the lighthouse is now fully refurbished

The town square gazebo is being replaced with a new one.

And Pinocchio is also going to be repainted

That is all for now. Great to see them using the time during their closure  to make the parks better :)

New photo posted of finishing up on CARStastrophe Canyon (hee hee). Looking good, down there.

It was also alluded, that a possible change in the attraction's name will happen. From "Cars Route 66 Road Trip" to just "Cars Road Trip". Apparently they are finding that "Route 66" (even though it is a part of the entire movie) doesn't equate to certain European languages. "Road Trip" is easier to translate for some reason or other.

There's also a rumor that "maybe" an entire Lion King themed LAND might be a future addition to the back lake area of WDS. Along with Frozen's Arendelle and Star Wars' Outpost in their respective places. 🍿

That could give the entire back park area, an "Adventureland" of it's own, lol. Interesting.

EDIT: The Lion King Land rumor has been around for a long time, apparently. Oh well, you never know, hmm? 🦁

It has been announced that a new scene inspired by Disney and Pixar's "Coco" will be coming to "Mickey's PhilharMagic" at Disneyland Paris on July 17th, 2021!

24tiuh24pgy9gre1.thumb.jpg.62e2bdf1183e8b5ccf881fb75f405a8e.jpg

https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/07/disney-and-pixars-coco-coming-to-mickeys-philharmagic-on-july-17/

We can’t keep this news under Mickey’s sorcerer hat much longer. Fans of “Mickey’s PhilharMagic” will soon be tapping to a new song with the debut of an animated scene based on Disney and Pixar’s “Coco.”

The musical number “Un Poco Loco” will anchor the new scene when it opens to guests at Disney California Adventure park and Disneyland Paris on July 17, before being added to Magic Kingdom Park later this year during the Walt Disney World Resort 50th anniversary celebration.

The film’s fun, upbeat music and characters combined with the humor of Donald Duck marks the first time Disney and Pixar animators have worked on a creative endeavor where characters from both animation studios will be seen together on screen.

Because music is such an integral part of the show, we were also fortunate to tap one of the film’s original composers – the world-renowned Germaine Franco – to produce a “Coco” score unique to “Mickey’s PhilharMagic.”

Guests will enjoy this new scene alongside all of the show’s current fan-favorite musical numbers. Now it’s time to put on those opera glasses and let the show begin!

I wonder what the total cost would be per person in the peak season could end up being if you did every ride once since they say prices can go higher than 15 euros. Might be the second most expensive fast pass after USJ.

Hopefully they can do a premium ride all of them once somewhere down the line rather than having to constantly make little payments on the app. Even USJ is finally offering one of those after years of juggling multiple booklets.
