Would it better to hit Ratatouille first for a ride and/or FP - then head back to Crush for a ride?

Or do Crush first, then head to Ratatouille, etc?

 

I would hit Crush first, then get a Fastpass for Ratatouille and/or get in line.

 

But both rides have a Single Riders Line. Wait for single rider Crush it's usually around ⅓ of de normal standby wait. Single Rider Wait for Ratatouille barely ever exceeds 15 minutes, most of the time 5 minutes or less. Single Rider wait times displayed on the screens at the entrance are almost never correct!

The bazaar area in Adventureland has reopened. Now with brick paths instead of concrete:

Other areas of Adventureland are being repaved in similar fashion, as are the paths surrounding the Disneyland Hotel and Space Mountain.

When we were there last month, I noticed that Crush's single rider queue was not always open, so I would definitely suggest heading there first, we found Ratatouille to have fairly acceptable queues. We waited when it was an advertised 55 min, but it only took 40 mins or so. Once you enter the building there is only about a 10 minute wait from there so you can easily judge the queue as it is mostly outside.

Good to remember, thanks. I figured that since Ratatouille was the new attraction in the park,

Crush's Coaster might be "slightly" easier to hit first, then the "Land of Remy". Then on to

Toy Story Land, and circle back to the Tower of Terror.

 

Looking forward to all of it - AND the new Adventureland paving, too!

 

We've actually been to DLPR three times, since the Studios opened in 2002. So we're skipping stuff we're not interested in re-visiting, like the Armageddon thing; the stunt show (twice is enough, esp.for the time invested in queueing, seating, the show and exiting); Animagique for myself; the Tram Tour. So for us, it will still be somewhat of a "half day park". But we will be (hopefully) eating at Remy's Bistro the day we arrive, so that will be nice.

Videopolis has reopened after a 6 month refurbishment.

 

Outside: everything cleaned up and repainted, the Hyperion airship refurbished (even the propellers are spinning again), new floors at the entrance.

 

Inside: two new seating areas for wheelchairs, refurbished toilets, new floors, a renovated kitchen for the restaurant, and cash registers at wheelchair height, and last but not least, the new Jedi Training Academy show.

The Jedi Training set up looks great there, by the way.

It was first designed for a "mini" version of "The Lion King."

So, it still looks good for young Jedis, too.

Oh my, that looks hideous! It does NOT look like something I would like to eat (though as you said the taste is probably fine).

 

I haven't been to DLP so I cannot comment on how much this area of the park has improved, but either way it looks great! Maybe I'll take the trip down to Paris one day...

They've posted for some time, the closures that will be happening around our visit in late September

 

And - it looks like the ONLY thing we'll be missing (at this time) will be... It's A Small World.

 

We can live with that loss.

 

(But - they are also temporarily closing Crush's Coaster at WDS during our visit. )

It actually looks like new maintenance doesn't start until AFTER September! Lucky us!

^ No you can't. Paris Small World is incredible. It's like what happens when the original meets Sinbad's Storybook Voyage and they have a beautiful baby.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

...but then they club that baby to death for being impure and just built another Small World instead.

The maintenance schedule is fairly intensive next year. We were considering tagging on a visit to the end of our holiday to France again next year, but have decided to hold off for a few years to let them get everything sorted first. Hopefully once they are through, the resort should be back on top form, it was definitely looking a bit tired when we were there in June.

^ We've done mid-late September visits a couple of times before, and it seems to work really well for us, timing wise.

Minimum maintenance going on, most of all the kids of Europe (bless them) are back in school, and the weather is

(usually) pretty good for that time of year.

We will find out if this planning works again, soon enough.

 

And 2017 is the 25th Anniversary of the Resort. And the 15th of WDS.

So yes, they are amping up the renovations and fixups, before late (probably) 2016 rolls along.

Haven't been since 2013, had an annual pass back then. I'll hold off until September next year, hopefully all the refurbs are done and the park is looking it's best.

How do Big Thunder, Peter Pan and Star Tours compare to their WDW counterparts?

 

Peter Pan is fairly similar from what I remember, minus any of the new interactive queue elements that the WDW version has. Star Tours is currently the original version, and is being upgraded in next years rehab.

 

Big Thunder Mountain on the other hand is a bit different as it takes place on an island in the middle of the Rivers of the Far West, so you travel under the river to get to and from the main bulk of the ride. The overall ride experience is fairly similar though and on my visit last month a lot of the effects weren't working, and it was suffering from regular downtime, so the rehab is definitely needed.

Peter Pan is basically the same, and Star Tours is the original version (I think WDW has been upgraded, right?). I far prefer Big Thunder at Paris, though, due to the first tunnel and particularly because of the incredible ending on it where it plunges back under the lake. Sorry about that. It really does need a rehab though.

Space Mountain and Nautilus have reopened last week...

 

• - everything cleaned up
  - a completely repainted Nautilus
  - new single rider queue
  - new video projectors & screens
  - new lights, strobes, neons
  - return of many smoke effects
  - new computers
  - new control panel
  - new booster wheels on the lifts
  - new launch cable
  - return of water effects in the pools

New Single Rider Queue And everything else looks great, too.

 

This will be so much easier to do (in Sept.), as David isn't too keen on

repeating his 'rough ride' on it, several years ago. I wanted to

"test" it first, see if it's easier for him to ride, and this way is perfect!
