This NEW Giant looks amazing. Does ANYONE know the new and old specs, like track length, and ride duration in comparison to the original? I LOVED the old Giant much better than the Titan even in the latter days, now the NEW GIANT makes the Titan appear to be just a mere magic carpet ride.

Hallelujah!

Anyways here's the dippin dots guys info lol it said that SF is loving the way the Giant is turning out even before testing it, it's said they have already ok'd Rattler for their next project starting in 2011 and for Colossus 36 B-day in 2013 she'll be getting her makeover also. So if this true looks like SF has Rocky mountain locked in for projects for a few years. I was also told SOB would be brand new ride in 2012 so it looks like this Rocky mountain my be very busy over the next few years lol

TG looks awesome and I hope if any of these other projects are true they come out just as amazing looking

Don't get me wrong, but I'm pretty sure employees most of time are left out the open to prevent leaks of information. I can't see a Dippin Dot's person at one theme park knowing about the corporate plans of another theme park 2-3 years ahead, even if it's run by the same people. Most of the time, they won't say anything to regular employees until something happens that requires them to do so, like construction. I will use Seaworld Parks and Entertainment for an instance, granted it's not six flags. The General Staff of Busch Gardens Tampa were left out in the air about Cheetah Hunt until about a month and a half in after construction started. Some employees knew because of the coaster communities and the leaked information, but management didn't tell any of them anything til after.

OR his source just might know people and he just happened to be the guy that squealed! (lol) When it comes to this kind of information, its all about who you know, who they know, and on and on...

I had friends in CF that told me an Intamin Giga was coming to KD in October 2008... I didn't believe them... He may be right, He may be wrong. I'm just pointing out that this could be a fun rumor played by a guy that looks like he might know something or someone who may actually know something. I agree we should take its a rumor and see how the NTG plays out.

Not only that, he gave you information about parks owned by ANOTHER company.

I doubt you got creditable information there, obviously.

The source might be tight with RMC?

While I was at Cowboy's Stadium for the Big XII Championship last weekend, I got to see this ride in person from a bit of a distance, but it still looked very impressive. We drove right past the park, and the pictures are very accurate as to how crazy this ride looks. I was so excited, and just seeing the TG made me want to go to the park but I'd rather wait until next year when TG reopens...which reminds me, my brother graduates from Baylor in May so I will definitely be riding this beast then - I can't wait!

Someone claimed there was airtime on the first drop of texas giant at one point on some seat somewhere somehow. I dont remember who it was. But i dont understand how that is physically possible unless the lift hill is over 20mph or so..

Yes, the old Giant did indeed have airtime on the first drop, particularly in the last car....my memory is foggy about any other seats, there was some air in the second to last car also. I never rode this one up front much.

I remember it was the last car. I rode Giant once in the front and then in the last row. After that I rode it in the last car until my last ride Labor Day '09. Great airtime. Loved the Midcourse drop my second favorite part of the ride besides the section of which we dont speak of lol.

Very true I worked for Cedar Point 06-07 in rides, the Maverick and Paramount takeover. We new that they were building something in 06 but didnt know what it was until like labor day. There were so many rumors i used to laugh at them. One of the funniest i heard was that it was going to have, get this brace yourself, a 500' loop. I laughed for about an hour to that. The only rumor someone got right is that it was going to pass under the station. We didnt find out what it was until Labor Day of 06'. Well i acutally found out a week earlier cause one of the Park Op managers gave me a promo DVD just because.

We didnt find out about CF buying the Paramount parks until the day they did it and it was the front page of the Sandusky news paper. So I give props to all of my fellow Theme Park workers but i wouldnt rely on that source unless its a leak from corporate cause you never know what people will come up with.

I appreciate your willingness to stand up for the guy, but thinking it's correct is quite a stretch. Truly, All information is not creditable unless coming directly from the company. I'm not criticizing him, but his information source. If you want to play it off as a fun rumor, sure. But I prefer much more then a hunch, but that's just me. I stand by my original post, regardless if that makes me sound "stubborn" to you.

Back on topic however, this project is looking pretty fine. I can't wait to see how it rides, let's just hope it's a improvement. Since this is a new ride system, who knows what could happen.

This was probably answered MANY pages back, but I can't remember seeing it. Can someone tell me where the upstop wheels are? I know they have to be there, but cant decipher where they are.

This. Is. Awesome!

Pardon me while I change my pants...

...

I didn't realize how much the first drop changed. I know they were making it steeper, but I guess I didn't realize it was that much steeper (or rather, I didn't realize how lame the old first drop was).

There's an inside joke on this site that any rumor about future projects comes from the Dippin Dot's guys. It's a joke, and I seriously doubt that Gigalyte actually got his information from a dippin dots guy. But the point is that by prefacing his post with that, he's implying that it's just a rumor and should be treated as such.

The upstop wheels are 4 or 5 inches underneath the running wheels. They run under the top 2 lams on a wood style track.

This was posted on Six Flags Over Texas' Facebook page....

"Hey guys! It’s Texas Giant Tuesday! We are reaching a milestone with the construction of the ride and can’t be more excited! Stay tuned... all the details will be announced tomorrow! Until then.. can you tell me the specific name of the new type of track?"

...pull through maybe? Whatever it is, I'm excited for tomorrow.

At least it looks like the testing could realistically be done this month at some point. It would be cool to be able to see it during holiday in the park in person

Also, just to note, the 3rd turn is banked at 112 degrees (which we already knew), the second 105 degrees, and the first 103 degrees. I guess we need to make shirts that say >90 degrees.

There's also some good pictures on the facebook page as well.

I can't see how they would do a pull-through, and it seems pretty unnecessary for this coaster. I'd think that the "windows" on the train would prevent people from putting their arms out sideways.

The pull-through is very necessary on this coaster. It has a lot more to do with a completely new ride system than it does with arms reaching out.
