Six Flags Over Texas (SFOT) Discussion Thread

I plan to visit the area at the end of March / beginning of April and so will visit SFoT for the first time. Any tips and tricks about the park would be appreciated (I can spend the full day there I think), and I'll probably grab a room at the hotels across the street. Also, I may take a quick trip up to Sandy Lake to ride the old-school pretzel (I'm a fan of such things), but that's kind of it for the Dallas area, right? I have a Six Flags gold pass, so I'll aim for early entry and head over to Texas Giant first, I guess. Anything that gets hideous lines that I should knock out fast?

Get there eeeeaaarly, run straight to Giant, and then Titan, since you are in the hood already. After that, hit Justice League Battle For Metropolis. Cross your fingers and toes that it is working. Then Freeze and Batman. Then Superman and Shock Wave.

Thanks! Early won't be a issue. And no problem skipping Titan or Batman since SFMM is my home park (not a coaster count guy). I've got my sights La Vibora as well (although I'm not expecting much).

you'll pass right by it on the way to Giant anyways. . if it's open, knock it out early.

They recently sent out an email and in the email it said their new attractions would "Open later this season." So I'd assume April is probably a little early. Maybe mid to late May, or even early June. (I mean, it is Six Flags after all.)

If I make it my goal to get in early with my gold pass, I'll haul ass to Giant, then make my way over to Shockwave and Mr. Freeze, the rest I can just play by ear. I've managed to get a terrifying looking hotel a couple of miles away, so if needed, I could duck out for a break and then head back until closing.

Thanks for the tips. There are a few rides that I really don't mind skipping if the place gets too packed. Also, since I'll be staying right around the corner and my flight doesn't leave until 5pm on Sunday, I could probably do the gold pass early opening thing on both Saturday and Sunday if needed. Even with hideous WWF Fest nearby, I'm sure it'll all work out.

I'm sure this has been stated in this thread already, but is Riddler Revenge a Zamperla Giant Discovery like Black Widow at Kennywood. That is by far my favorite model and honestly will be a deciding factor on if I try to get back out to SFOT this summer.

So rumors are swirling that SFMM is getting a Dive Machine, and now SDC might be getting one too. How many coasters can B&M produce in a year? Does that mean SFOT is not getting a Wing Coaster? Maybe we are going to be getting the T-Rex Coaster from RMC. Some things to consider.

I'm really hoping for that Wing Coaster. I won't be that upset with getting to be the 1st park to have a T-Rex Coaster from RMC though. If we can get something that's like Lightning Run at Kentucky Kingdom out of that T-Rex coaster, I would be happy.

About the VR Roller Coaster Experiences

Six Flags and Samsung will launch the new VR Roller Coasters beginning this month and into the summer, totaling nine coasters across the U.S. On the six New Revolution Virtual Reality Coasters, riders are transported to a futuristic battle to save planet earth from an alien invasion. Riders are the co-pilots in their own fighter jets as they strap in for air-to-air combat. Taking in the view around them, riders will see other aircraft in an underground secret bunker. As the aircraft moves to a landing pad, it begins to launch its thruster engines, lifting the craft straight up through the roof. During the ascent, riders can test fire their weapons using the world’s first-ever interactive gameplay technology on a roller coaster. As riders clear the roof, they realize they are on top of a skyscraper and about to launch off the edge of the building diving straight down on the first drop of the ride. The aircraft races through the city until reaching the edge of the skyline where riders see the mother ship hovering above. The mother ship is heavily protected by drones and the mission is to get past the drones, fire on the mother ship and destroy it. Just after departing the station riders encounter Lex Luthor who uses an anti-gravity gun along with his army of Lex Bots to create chaos throughout the city with cars, taxis and buses floating in mid-air around the rider’s vehicle. As the Lexbots continue shooting at the vehicle, SUPERMAN uses heat vison to destroy the anti-gravity gun, causing all objects to suddenly fall, including the train as it takes the first giant drop of the roller coaster. through hairpin twists and turns, loops, dips and dives before ultimately defeating Lex and the Lexbots, and returning safely back into the station. This amazing adventure will debut on these Superman-branded coasters:

I'm shocked they are not charging for the VR headset. I thought that would help with the line flow. Shockwave has a decent area on the exit side of the station to set up a return, cleaning area for the VR headsets but Superman at SFFT exit is cramped. I'm guessing they will grab it from you before you get off the ride? This is going to cause longer waits.
