Six Flags Over Texas (SFOT) Discussion Thread

Considering I'm going to the park Wednesday, I'm just glad that it wasn't the black train that they removed

But really, every time I've been there this summer, it's been temporarily shut down for one glitch with the sensors or another. I'd assume this is no different.

I rode NTAG 3 times on Thursday night, once in the front and then twice in the back at the very end of the night. OMG is the back awesome, that first drop feels like you are going to fly out. When we came back into the station there were a handful of people still in the line and they let us ride again in the back. The ride was going just fine and then we got stopped at the MCBR for at least 5 minutes. The last half of the ride was super slow after coming to a complete stop. They didn't say what was wrong but the op apologized when we got back to the station and said they couldn't run the train again. On Friday towards the middle of the day I realized I had not seen a train go on NTAG yet and while heading over to Titan saw that the red train was stopped about 2/3 of the way up the hill with people on it. While going up the lift hill of Titan we saw the people getting off and walking down the lift hill.

Looks a like a worn wheel was to blame...........damn track bolts

Apparently being stopped on the lift is a "traumatic experience"........

Those darn track bolts How often are they changing the wheels are the cars?

Oh and don't you know!? Twenty minutes up there is life-changing!

^^ On media day you could feel/hear almost ever section of track. Not hitting the bolts, but just the gap/seam between track sections.

And, being an engineer, I never assume all engineers know what they are doing. Many of them don't, trust me.

They probably do know what they're doing - taking into account thermal expansion of heat.

Well if the fire marshal's concern was lighting the wooden structure on fire, it seems like shooting the flames from the top would be a safer bet as it'd be further away from the structure. But who knows, it still looks nice... I'm just not sure it's appreciated given this has been the second hottest summer in Texas' recorded history.

I rode NTAG 6 times today, and I was disappointed. I was here for the TPR event for it a few months ago, and I swear it was running faster then. The rideops are not as aggressive with the lap bars now. It maybe just me, since I spent last Friday & Saturday at 6 Flags Great Adventure riding El Toro & Nitro. I'll be back on Thursday for more research...

One other thing forget the "fireworks" near the carrousel at 9:45 -- very lame.

Went to Six Flags Monday and it was a good day. There was no one in the park at all. I ran to the Texas Giant and was the first train out. The teal train was in the station. Well I have upgraded it a bit. Yes I gave it another chance and I enjoyed it. Now, i ONLY counted 3 pops of NOTICEABLE air. I still dont think it is all of that but it is by NO MEANS bad, never said it was. I personally didn't feel any bumps as it rode over segments of track like some people said they felt. It STILL was as smooth as when it opened.

I am NOT saying that it doesn't have 14 pops of air like some people have claimed, I am just saying that I was only popped out of MY seat noticeably 3 times. Yes I felt the other 11 but they weren't intense enough for me to say 14. It still didn't have the effect on me that El Toro or Voyage had but yes it is a good coaster.

I was able to ride it 4 times within 30 mins and then I went to Titan, Freeze, Shockwave, Pandemonium, Batman, Runaway Mountain, La Vibora, Judge Roy which is a bit waste of time walking over there and Runaway Mine Train.

In my opinion Texas Giant, Titan and Mr Freeze are the only exciting coasters there to me. There lines were non existent except for Giant and that was only a 10 min wait. I was able to ride EVERYTHING twice and some more than twice within 1 1/2 hrs.

TEX GIANT 4X

TITAN 2X

SHOCKWAVE 1X

MINE TRAIN 2X

FREEZE 2X

PANDEMONIUM 1X

BATMAN 2X

BOBSLED 1X

JUDGE ROY 1X

yea, when I watched the video, I thought how if everything in the background weren't exactly as they were in the park, I would have wondered if it was an animation...I think it is because of how saturated the colors are...and the "abnormal" camera angles...(abnormal in the vein that most coaster vids don't have such angles, and when they do, it's something from an animation...)
