Catching up on this since I was on the road through much of September. Really enjoying it so far. It reminds me of being happy to be traveling in Europe again! Awesome sights, fun rides, great people. Keep it going, can't wait to see the rest.

working on Day 2 of Europa Park. . and whittled it down to ~300 pics (from over 500). . . struggling, as there are so many things in pics that were not in day 1, so it's not really a case of duplication.

I'll try to get at least part 1 of day 2 (will have to do it in parts) up in the next few days. . and will try to whittle down a bit more.

tho most are pics I find so good, I'm having a hard time.

glad folks seem to be enjoying the report tho.

couple of teaser pic from Day 2:

Europa Park Day 2 - part 1:

so we got up before park open again, grabbed breakfast, and met up with the park guide who once again walked us into the park before general guests. .this time bringing us around the left side of the big lagoon with the boats (which I was planning to ride later)

IMG_0026.thumb.JPG.4d5fe22abfcfcdbc0f8eac3905710261.JPG

so pretty when it's empty. . and loved this train "station" over here in the Russia area. . .wait. . why were we in Russia?

IMG_0028.thumb.JPG.c8c9853ed4dbb39fce19ec82cc17181e.JPG

because our morning ERT was on Euro-Mir this am!

going up the disco steps to the station. . . and getting ready to ride.

That "bees in a can" song gets stuck on one's head!  sheesh. . was humming it for a couple of hours after!

our host. . whom, after seeing several updates on the new coaster videos posted - and hosted by him, I now recall his name was Lukas.  :)

after multiple rides on Euro Mir (and I must admit, that I could only ride 4-5 times before I needed a break. . . going down that drop backwards - more often than not - wears you out)

I had planned to ride the "stupid" stuff today. . things that didn't really do much, or just the dumb rides I really like.  and to my surprise, almost the entire group I had hung out with on day 1, wanted to hang with and also ride the dumb stuff. . at least for a bit.

So since we were right here, we took another spin on Bench: the Ride (this time with working a/c)

(tho honestly, it was such stupid fun. .I loved it)

right around the corner was a station for the inpark monorail, so we headed there and took over the first couple of rows.

a nice, slow moving - 10 minute or so ride (I think it was that long). . great views of the whole back portion of this gorgeous park.

Remember, it was still really early - park had just opened, and we had started in the center at Euro Mir. . so the people hadn't really made it over here, which is why it looks so empty at the moment.

shamefully, didn't do ANY shows on this trip.   There just was not enough time, so that means I need to go back.   But loved this "Globe Theater" in the England Section.

the loading/exit station for the Monorail where we got on, was in the same building as the "roller coaster restaurant". . .so although it wasn't open yet (it was too early, and it was fully booked anyways), was able to peek in and see the "serving" tracks that are used to bet the food to the tables.

IMG_0087.thumb.JPG.69e85e73e8d61f03c57e3df4c0747464.JPG

wasn't quite ready to ride the slow moving barges around the lake - I think we were headed to Arthur perhaps. . .but we walked along it, and again, stopped for pics.  there are SO many photo spots in this park

IMG_0093.thumb.JPG.44f9abfed726b1fdabb6e16747a3582d.JPG

even the attractions list is well done.

IMG_0094.thumb.JPG.2230b1fc57bf31672a0ca8cc0491b97c.JPG

and then we went to England.

I mean. . how could I not stop for this?

IMG_0096.thumb.JPG.580c3ff6a387646e8ebc57333a4c89f0.JPG

but we had spotted this from the monorail. . and I REALLY wanted to ride it.

yep, my kind of stupid ride.

IMG_0101.thumb.JPG.0745900d2bcf9a0b4b733ad4e5e35206.JPG

so dumb, there was ZERO line for it. . and there were 6 of us. . .so it was a complete TPR takeover of Crazy Taxi. . LOL

(and the operator encouraged us to take pictures while riding, hence so many cameras out :) )

after Crazy Taxi. . we headed over to Ireland.

it's the kiddie section. . but there are a few rides over here that Adults can ride. . .

IMG_0115.thumb.JPG.cef91554d6134ba33ea3dba2b8e89104.JPG

I didn't really WANT to. . I'm absolutely not a credit whore. . . . but yeah, I got on the kiddie coaster with the group.

IMG_0116.thumb.JPG.620a29bdb3a09f8237b0dadb4286cc17.JPG

but after we all got to ride the spinning dragons. . .which is a big ol gay "Tilt a Whirl" type of ride.

I mean, you ride in pastel femmy dragons!   it was awesome.

IMG_0118.thumb.JPG.37f6275db5d4d3a9b1d5f908ee62c25a.JPG

and tractors. . . yup. . slow moving, bouncing up and down tractors.

and we rode them.

IMG_0119.thumb.JPG.c5dc609f143efb0edc6f5813ccf36281.JPG

the train even comes thru the kiddie section. . with no drop-bars, they just expect people not to be dumb and to move out of the way.

ah. . Europe!

IMG_0121.thumb.JPG.1a10ea2782272582dad1c3b13f7bcec4.JPG

next up on the silly/dumb ride agenda for me was the infamous "Creepy dolls" ride. . . where you ride a slow moving round boat past nightmare fuel clowns!

turns out it's THEMED to Marionettes. . . but that doesn't make it *any* less creepy.

and it was awesome!

IMG_0129.thumb.JPG.a09a76df125f9752115bb4c682c671ce.JPG

there was also a pretty creepy/weird boat ride closeby that was also themed. .this time to fairies and mushrooms!
we'd come back to ride this one. . . but . . yeah. . several creepy boat rides over here in this area

IMG_0131.thumb.JPG.f9b2f18abc30cdc942a7d661b7efa338.JPG

and a "hanging" monorail themed to Leonardo DaVinchi's inventions.

IMG_0132.thumb.JPG.7acb5150bfa0e2f8c3940061d27bbf8b.JPG

but we were headed towards the front gate, to ride the "flying theater". . think it was called the Volarium, or something?

on the way tho. . passed the golden idol mascot of the park:

IMG_0304.thumb.JPG.225b2863bdf66ec5d89ed1c6a8e297fc.JPG

and there was a meet and greet going on.

NO idea who she is, but she had a short line, so I hopped in it.
(later ont he way back, the Elephant was out, but his line was really long, so passed him by)

never made it outside the front gates (a shame, as the pics that Erik shared, show that it's beautiful out there). . .but we just had too much we wanted to do.

and flying theater was the one everyone wanted before it got too busy (since it's near the front gate).

cool model of it in the queue.

heck, the whole queue for it was pretty cool. . even if the show was just "Soarin" but over Europe.    I dont' remember much of it. . just that it was "ok"

after riding the flying theater, we headed over to the observation tower, for some great views of the park.

I love the theming over here for the queue, and these benches are amazing.

the frog looks concerned for the kids that may be riding tho.

meanwhile the "mushroom" in front has Chlamydia

the stilt walkers are SO well done here. . wonder why the USA Stilt folks don't wear the "shoes" to hide the bases?

the piggie on the back of the boat seems very pleased with himself.

just outside, there were clowns.

really pretty kinda racist clowns. . but clowns.

IMG_0198.thumb.JPG.f46990fa9d172bb63d1481e872a2665b.JPG

they had their funnel cakes on rubber bands and "threw" them at people.

IMG_0199.thumb.JPG.966120b71b89a874ed10ebd2974d3428.JPG

but they did seem to be out front of this place advertising for it. . .

so don't mind if I do!

when in Germany? I can Poffertjes with the best of em.

IMG_0201.thumb.JPG.6c134c25130fa270af81a0460afc66fd.JPG

let's head back thru "Amity". . . we have to cut thru here to get to the Germany section, as we hadn't even been over there yet, and we needed to ride the mountain coaster, and the flume. . that are housed inside a man-made mountain and interact with each other supposedly

oooo..  inside the mountain.

not only lots of crystals. .and disco lighting. . but also mining fairies, and giant animatronic snakes/dragons. . and the flume *and* the coaster go thru this area too, as the walking path goes over and under.

that's the flume on the right here.

hard to see, but that's a dragon that moved and hissed at the passing coaster train.

we were by the Spanish section all the way back near our hotel entrance. . so it was time to ride the indoor sea storm.

themed to Christopher Columbus!

IMG_0260.thumb.JPG.8eb5a05b6b412a376b923367173eeba1.JPG

these are the horses, that are infamously the "Flaming" horses, during the show over here. . but again, we didn't do any shows at Europa. . more interested in reriding things we loved.

IMG_0261.thumb.JPG.9dcb45a5b5963265a682614aa063ac02.JPG

but we passed the horses on the way over to the Atlantica supersplash that some of the guys decided they wanted to ride.

as noted, since I ride it all the time at SWSA, I decided to just sit this one out and went and grabbed a pretzel and a slushie while waiting (think Andrew skipped it too)

what going on here?   are those Pirates wading in the lagoon towards this thing in the turnaround?

Yup, it's a stage, and they do a diving show. . . and the pirates have to wander out thru the water to get to the stage.   I found that hysterical, and actually watched a bit of the show while waiting for the guys to get thru the queue and ride.

IMG_0268.thumb.JPG.a8cc51161702df0cdb5e7becc7f98632.JPG

ah. .there they are.. back row is TPR.

IMG_0270.thumb.JPG.a803e5eab3950f3578af0373657cc480.JPG

the show has a "land" aspect too. . tho that seemed to be mostly juggling, and wasn't as exciting as the diving going on from the stage.

IMG_0272.thumb.JPG.b020d3363fc1bab555815ddd8ec29286.JPG

not 100% sure why I took this, but think because Wodan is cresting the lift hill in the background.

I had snacked, but others were hungry, and it was coffee time. . so we made our way back to "Amity" and into our "secret" restaurant we had found the day before, and had a nice 30 minutes sitting in the A/C and non-crowded area, relaxing  (a pic I sent home to Nick)

looking at the list of things we hadn't done yet (and knowing we had express passes for Arthur, and ERT tonight on Wodan & Blue Fire), we headed over to the Antique Cars.. .or:  Oldtimer Fahrt.

Europa Park, day 2, part III. . the conclusion:

after the Taxis, we hit up a few things we'd already been on, but loved and wanted to ride again.

such as Can Can Coaster (this phone booth was outside it, and I bought a few souvenirs there from it - such as a Can Can Coaster coin, and Euro)

IMG_0305.thumb.JPG.92322e6033caa7044ec837e261c789e6.JPG

the Dinosaur Birthday Party WTF ride:

IMG_0306.thumb.JPG.f49028f6f2965c27501d7b4721a9f3b7.JPG

and Can Can coaster again. . as well as Arthur.

this time discovering there were a couple of smaller rides hidden at the end of the path near the exit:

I think at this point Ryan wanted to go ride Silverstar, so he (and James (who's John???)) went off to do that, while the rest of us headed towards the lagoon for the slow boat ride, that I was determined I was going to ride.

turns out it's called: Josephina's fairytale wedding . . or something like that. . .

after we relaxed on the slow boat, we headed back to Ireland. . we had tractors to ride!

IMG_0335.thumb.JPG.9314ddcb209fb26988cc3a92d2f88d43.JPG

we werent sure adults were allowed to ride them, but the operators assured us "yes"

although there was no way to sit in the front seat to do so!  (teeny tiny kiddie seats)

IMG_0336.thumb.JPG.43d0b83ea13cc7445fffb0b434215393.JPG

but they moved on their own, and were "gas" powered. . so you chugged your way slowly around the course.

mah tiddies were jiggling for the whole 5 minute ride, and I was laughing like a moronic hyena the whole time.

in other words?  yeah, i loved it.

it was getting close to time to meet over by Wodan for our ERT. . so we started heading back that way.

taking pics as I walked. . sad the day was over.  but with the park closing by 6:30?  it made the day go pretty fast.

but we DID manage to pass the train as it was loading. . so we managed to get a ride on it.

Something I totally forgot, until I saw this picture.   I don't remember if it was good. . hell, I didn't even remember that I rode it.   but we did.

(remember, I'd never been on a Madhouse, and didn't realize they'd be in every park).

we also rode over here, an "underwater" dark shooting ride. . but I don't seem to have ANY pictures of it, nor much of a memory of it other than we rode it.
so there's that I guess. . .

Poseidon had been rough the day before, so just took some pics of it, but didn't ride it.

ah. . THIS time I did take some pics of Kassandra. . .yay me.

getting ready to "spin"

IMG_0366.thumb.JPG.c50dd81a5fd4343eb607d18e66c218a4.JPG

such a cool effect. . . I really loved it.

IMG_0367.thumb.JPG.b1aed17b1c9ca6ba27183230c71194a0.JPG

even the restrooms over here are heavily themed. . so well done.

IMG_0365.thumb.JPG.5f9c1425265635bbdb953a7c30442d11.JPG

we headed over to Blue Fire/Wodan for our ERT, and I think we had to store our bags?  as the only pic I have from the ERT is this one from Wodan,  courtesy of either Robb or Elissa.

but I LOVED Wodan. .favorite coaster in the park.   rode this at least 5 times during our ERT. .maybe 6 or 7 . . .

IMG_E1052.thumb.JPG.5dbec8d197c59d51edebb7539853898d.JPG

but we couldn't hang out on it too long, as we had time on Blue Fire as well. . and funnily, the park had warned Robb/us that they were filming a reality show and they didn't know when they might show up.

and of course they showed up during our ERT session, so one of the trains was given over to what looked like a reality dating show (some of the women were dressed quite provocatively. . so I'd assume as show like Love Island?).   It was funny. . most of them tapped out after 1 or 2 rides. . while the TPR folks kept going until we had to get off, because we had dinner scheduled back at the hotel.

I only rode it 3-4 times. . I mean, I loved the dark ride section prior to the launch, and as mentioned yesterday, the first loop is amazing. .but that slow hangtime in the heartline roll (or whatever it is). .is just NOT my cuppa. . didn't like that part at all, and affected overall how much I liked the ride.    but I didn't shut down the ERT, and headed over towards the hotel to make the dinner reservation a little earlier than some of the hardcore riders on this trip.

dinner was at the Brazilian Steakhouse restaurant in the hotel. . .you know. . "MEAT ON STICKS". . . MEAT-A-PAL-OOZ-A

everything was really good. and we stuffed ourselves.

and drinks were included. . so lots of wine

Cheers to a great start of a great trip.

I may have overdone it on the deserts (as full as I was already).

but I had Pepcid back in the room.. which I DID need. . whoops.

IMG_0377.thumb.JPG.7aa37941f2b586899e73080a75e74839.JPG

heading back up to the room after dinner. . or should I say "waddling"

IMG_0379.thumb.JPG.163d637a6d5b6f25a9541371602b969c.JPG

we had to get everything packed up, as we were headed out pretty early the next morning (I think it was 6am at the bus?). . .  we were gonna have a long day tomorrow.

starting off at Tripsdrill, and ending with nighttime ERT on Expedition GE-Force at Holiday Park.

so it was time to say farewell to Europa Park, and go to bed.

Id been having a great time thus far.

and tho had no idea what was going to eventually happen?  between now and going home?  the trip would only get better and better and I'd have such a good time.

back as soon as I can with the next day. . . Tripsdrill. . .

thanks for reading!

^ LOL. .thanks.

It's the only way I know how to do it. . .  (and keep in mind, I'm using this as a "journaling" exercise as pushed by my therapist).

but yeah. . this was me TRYING to cut it down and not be as detailed as I usually am.   ❤️

So much great content (pictures and info) from your trip so far.  So sorry for your loss.  I hope/pray this journaling helps with your healing process.

thanks.

I've done trip reports here for years tho. . and I think, perhaps, they sometimes are more detailed than this one.

LOL. .if you wanna dig, I've done two prior ones with TPR. . . the 2018 USA trip, and the 2019 Japan trip.    Plus several ones I do on trips with my late husband.

but really glad you are enjoying. .thanks!

Really enjoying this trip report.  Bringing back lots of fantastic memories.
You have called me John a couple of times (picture of poseidon and it was me and Ryan who left to ride Silver Star) but I will forgive you
- James.

I blame widower brain that I keep calling you John. . of COURSE you're James, and I love you for putting up with me.  ❤️

(and hey. .I'm finally calling Andrew the correct name instead of Alexander. . apparently, I can only keep one name correct in my brain at a time)

Day 4, part 1:   Tripsdrill !

so this day was the earliest "up and out" of the entire trip. . .we had a very full day ahead of us:  leaving Europa Park at 6am, spending a good chunk of the the day at Tripsdrill, and then heading out to Holiday Park in the afternoon for some night-time ERT on Expedition GeForce!

so we were all up and in our hotel lobby bright and early.

can't say that I was super perky, but I still stopped to snap a pic of the beautiful chandelier in the hotel lobby at Europa Park.

IMG_0381.thumb.JPG.7dcbcb7ef423ed7242656fd6ad827fed.JPG

and then we got the bus loaded up, and said goodbye to Rust. .

IMG_0383.thumb.JPG.66877d5f03771cd12544d5ba437da79e.JPG

and headed out towards Tripsdrill.

IMG_0385.thumb.JPG.6fab8dadc2cac80111e4791679d249ee.JPG

IMG_0387.thumb.JPG.64e4d3706ac75945742000c0aa780c09.JPG

the Countryside is very pretty. .  I had to keep reminding myself we were in Germany, and not France any longer. (less windmills) 😛

IMG_0388.thumb.JPG.ad641f980cf205f2efbee305690824bd.JPG

and before too long. . in the middle of rolling green hills, and beautiful farmhouses, we made a turn and I spotted this sign:

IMG_0389.thumb.JPG.ed8f8b073f7a4f24f8558797b8d57abc.JPG

and moments later?  this.

a brand new, suspended Vekoma rollercoaster peeking thru the trees.  (with the "spike" of a shuttle coaster sticking up in the middle of it???)

IMG_0391.thumb.JPG.d9f334127cfe6dd62d32da9d2982ea4a.JPG

we made it here for park open - before park open, actually. . . but shortly, the park folks met the group, and led us over to the newest ride in the park (the above coaster)

IMG_0392.thumb.JPG.d622d9840163d074e0ae741e7bcebbec.JPG

This is the station for Volldampf - the shuttle coaster that has the red track.

we'd come back to this in a bit, but yeah, my eyes hadnt' been playing tricks on me - the family Boomerang shuttle coaster "Volldampf" does interact quite closely with the Vekoma suspended. . . intertwining with it and making an excellent (and exciting) option for those too small (or too scared) to ride the bigger, suspended coaster.

IMG_0393.thumb.JPG.3a24d27c9a2b4ff79da1c66d91e3d4b1.JPG

a better look at that "spike" from the shuttle coaster, poking thru the center of the new Vekoma

IMG_0394.thumb.JPG.db9964723170258f2b9df85387a109c0.JPG

the front of the train has a terrified sheep hanging onto it . . .LOL

IMG_0395.thumb.JPG.dd993f2cc00a38e97a8503167018cef4.JPG

but we were mainly here for this. . the newest Vekoma Suspended: Hals Uber Kopf - I believe they said it opened in 2021.

IMG_0396.thumb.JPG.cedddadeda928fbf5fa2754ec32c9501.JPG

tho I'm not exactly sure what the theming was - this was a weird park, and I loved the hell out of it! - much of the theming here SEEMED to be set around German folk tales?   So probably something to do with that?   7 guys slaying a bear?

not sure how it tied to a suspended coaster with a few inversions. . but it's still a great coaster!

IMG_0398.thumb.JPG.da1677a0e8a1b595f02bad80ed0592e7.JPG

and I love how the queue brings you thru the structure.

IMG_0524.thumb.JPG.7b0e2421f737090989addee4b3707854.JPG

I was a bit wary about riding what I knew was a Vekoma. . . but I absolutely adored that they have the park name/logo on every row hanging between the seats.

IMG_0405.thumb.JPG.cc71d36a20ef0db77761712cd32f850b.JPG

really COMFORTABLE seats too.

IMG_0407.thumb.JPG.6be8d94519e0e00ca6e4acd2eb0114ac.JPG

wheeee!!!

what did I think of it?   AMAZING. . and I think my favorite coaster in the park (tho there were some rides in the park that absolutely make this a must visit park).
This coaster in particular?  high on that "must visit" list - it has AIR TIME!   Yes. . . Airtime.   On a Suspended coaster!

on a VEKOMA Suspended coaster.

so smooth, and fun, and so many great elements. . .color me super impressed.

and look at that near miss with Volldampf track right here. . . (we were the only ones in the park at the moment, so no chance right now to get the trains together)

IMG_0408.thumb.JPG.7e8b4c4db5cd3d0f8b872c5219f20bd1.JPG

tho later in the day when we came back to ride again?  did manage to get the Boomerang with people on it.

IMG_0409.thumb.JPG.15585ce8f16870a59527c0c32abb8fc4.JPG

speaking of Volldampf. . . after our morning ERT rides, the park had just opened, and the Park Reps walked us over to Volldampf to give TPR a ride.

the seats were comfy, and the atmosphere on this is so incredible (since you're moving in and out of the other coaster). . but at the end of the day?  it's a family Boomerang, that is really just kinda "meh"   . . which is fine, as the Vekoma is so A+ level.

since I see Brad and AJ on this train with me, this pic must be courtesy of Elissa or Robb.

IMG_0409a.thumb.JPG.0e95de58268fb9ff6b0c6b64ad87193e.JPG

backwards thru the station.

IMG_0409b.thumb.JPG.22627d1dd9973d6646195af1553040c0.JPG

this park is not only full of charm (and WTF is this stuff????). . but also there were a bunch of these 3D illusion "street paintings" thruout the park.

not sure if these are permanent installations, or just for a special event and they just happened to be there. . but these were so great (even if some of the illusions worked better than others)

IMG_0412.thumb.JPG.52ba799f65cccab8b4106cdf603c06ed.JPG

oh, I mentioned some WTF stuff in this park?

how about this game:  you shoot eggs out of a chicken's ass into the open mouths of the villagers (and donkeys).

yeah. . . .   of COURSE I loved it!

IMG_0413.thumb.JPG.ea9258055be73ba7e2f649088071e794.JPG

the park reps were walking us back to the rear of the park - stopping along the way to ride Rasender Tausendfüßler (Raging Millipede?) the longest coaster train I've ever been on!  (pics in a moment). . but that was just a quick stop along the way back to Karacho. . the park's "Smiler" clone (at least I think that's what they told me, it's a clone)

EDIT:  per Elissa below, it's not a Smiler clone, but it IS similar to Smiler in places :)

I LOVED this test seat.

yes. . this is the test seat for the trains!

IMG_0421.thumb.JPG.7e547e7e5acc224a5bb9fc36c8093c08.JPG

speaking of. . these trains are incredible. . . I was glad we got some "ERT" on it, as it was one train ops . . but wow, what a train it is!

IMG_0423.thumb.JPG.b08126d31008da83af6fdbb3aaa36dd4.JPG

I mean. . look at this!

IMG_0424.thumb.JPG.2e0b806a3dad746e166a2d6c90912d84.JPG

tho for me? the highlight is this animatronic guy placed in the exit queue.

as the train unloads, and the riders exit?  he's triggered. . .  HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA. . . brilliant, right?

Pic courtesy of, I think, Brad.

what did I think?  well, having never ridden Smiler, I had no idea what to expect.   (in particular that 1st surprise in the dark after leaving the station).

I liked it.   due to the 1 train restriction, I think I only rode it twice, but I did enjoy it, and if that Vekoma wasn't in the park, this would easily be the #1 coaster here.

IMG_0432.thumb.JPG.5387836065f9a6354e8c1e397b3fc133.JPG

Apparently this sign is infamous. . but I needed to pee anyways by this point, and it made me laugh, so I snapped a pic of it.

IMG_0433.thumb.JPG.a8a56778a4a27e5ee121df20462f7e3a.JPG

and just LOOK at this view - out the windows over the urinal - one gets while peeing.

This flat is back over here in this area as well. . I didn't realize until after I got back and saw some posts here on TPR from other parks, that this ride is just an "out of the box" one. . but I was impressed with the theming when we saw it.

no time to ride it now, as we had to head over to Mammut. . but will come back shortly!

IMG_0429.thumb.JPG.b35bcb19784d3987cb4707351e8af18f.JPG

IMG_0430.thumb.JPG.335af665c564da9afe11aadbd7f79569.JPG

This coaster really does look quite impressive. . and apparently it's the only Wooden Coaster ever built by Gerstlauer.

IMG_0434.thumb.JPG.74ee24c83f817674d0c1cb6d11b30bcc.JPG

the queue line is also filled with mannequins and animatronics. . .very well themed.    Tho after riding a couple of times, I wasn't quite sure what the theme was really?   A haunted lumber Mill?

The trains seem to go to hell at one point in the course.

IMG_0437.thumb.JPG.b0a3598a60a8ce4978f83279564ba05e.JPG

the train design is fantastic tho!

IMG_0438.thumb.JPG.b7d6c0c28728777e8ec5cd583115741d.JPG

I really did like the uniform. . but yeah. . some eye-candy

IMG_0439.thumb.JPG.d25a3875258b6a1ae63770f1cf701cae.JPG

and the older operator saw me ask him to take a selfie and said :  "pose with him!!!"

so I did 😛

IMG_0440.thumb.JPG.5d918c30b921b4cff3de8b1169d3458c.JPG

the train, the station, the look of the ride is all great.

The ride itself?  just kinda . . . "meh". . . it doesn't really do anything.   It just kind of meanders, and doesn't have any forces at all. . no laterals, no air. . it's just kind of there.

I guess that's why it's a one of a kind?

but the animatronic section that kicks off the ride in the lumbermill prior to the lifthill was fun.

it's a wooden coaster.. wasnt' terrible, wasn't great. . . .but I rode it a few times.  (which may, or may not, have had to do with the operators 😛 )

Pic courtestly of Elissa I believe.

IMG_0440a.thumb.JPG.343d3e2ccfb5f37fa2276e26d043f88a.JPG

next up we headed over to G'sengte Sau, the park's Bobsled.   and a historic as it's the first coaster every built by Gerstlauer

it weaves in and out of the "castle" and has some fun airtime hills built into the landscape.

IMG_0443.thumb.JPG.ded9659e01eb36cd85c45cbd168cf528.JPG

and of course, some fun theming and animatronics/mannequins in the queue line (a theme here at this park)

more "illusion" street art.

IMG_0451.thumb.JPG.6f072e333655f40deddb59a717b27d0e.JPG

and we met up with @Pedrinhoand his family who came out to meet up with Robb & TPR at the park. . and we ended up riding this with them (tho his son did NOT want to share a car with me. . LOL)

Was still great to meet him and his family. .

we then crossed back over the courtyard for the park's infamous (that I wasn't aware of at the time) flume ride.

IMG_0456.thumb.JPG.73765a8e4c8c9d18d8120d9d9aa08dc4.JPG

wait. .the logs in the log flume are bathtubs?

this pic is courtesy of AJ, if I'm not mistaken.

and if I look freaked out?

it's not because I was worried about getting wet. . it's because just before the drop, the ride brings you thru some bathhouses full of nekkid women. . . bewbs EVERYWHERE. . . some of them on young, pretty girl mannequins. . . and some of them hanging low to the ground on elderly, chubby, mannequins.

I was traumatized I tell you!

and nobody on the trip *warned* me what was about to happen!  (I think it was karma from the universe that I had been enjoying the eye candy earlier at Mammut).

IMG_0462b.thumb.JPG.c943be0910179d37f74acf656d439e6d.JPG

since was already wet from the flume. . we headed across the courtyard for the park's rapids ride, that looked like it would get one pretty soaked.

but it's a beautiful park (I say again)

IMG_0463.thumb.JPG.87e541eca0b5ca2beb684ac441ef8c83.JPG

IMG_0465.thumb.JPG.053eb5426d37e8d54769edb77a1b8555.JPG

and some nice views of Karacho from the rapids ride queue. . .which was themed to Washing Clothes  (I dont' seem to have any pictures. . but it was the "history" of washing in creeks, and then barrels, and then washing machines.

the ride ultimately didnt' get us any more soaked than we already were from the bathtub flume. . so give it a ride if you're at this park.

here's a pic of the park map.

which really doesn't do the park justice. . there are SO many things. . crammed everywhere. .that the map makes the park look pretty small.   Could have easily spent another full day here.. there's just that much to do!  (and I haven't even talked about the WFT walkthru stuff that I'll get to soon)

IMG_0470.thumb.JPG.5d3eaa912af773bf885d584c20d28c02.JPG

can't recall what this is a pic of?. . . but I'm guessing an animatronic show that is triggered when folks walk by in front?

IMG_0471.thumb.JPG.b1a03b7230aab88f26b059293439defb.JPG

and I THINK this was the entrance to Rasender Tausendfüßler. . it looks overgrown and scary. . so I'm guessing so.

IMG_0487.thumb.JPG.ff19defd4e5968a88bfa181d550d7a22.JPG

never been on a train this long, and this is a double figure 8 layout. . that they sent us thru four times (if I'm not mistaken), moving pretty fast around a fountain in the center.   The fountain, I remember, because when we rode I REALLY had to pee. . .and we kept zooming by it.   LOL.

just LOOK how long this train is!!

and then we rode in a Crockpot.

no really

Tripsdrill has two rides like this - you sit in a thing that meanders thru a course among hedges and flowers, and spins.
they look so innocent. . they are not, and can really trigger some nausea .

But hey . . we rode in a crockpot!

IMG_0481.thumb.JPG.8cb662accf5b7e19a70606cd4cfa3b00.JPG

IMG_0486.thumb.JPG.2b106ff87c7c0827272c5bbf42bd89ab.JPG

oh, they have one of these too - some massive thrill rides hidden thruout the park.
(I didn't ride this, it scared me. . tho I DID ride a similar version later in the trip at another park)

IMG_0483.thumb.JPG.89a4676a34ae20e7ff10a083225a7800.JPG

IMG_0485.thumb.JPG.815e140151a973889d92afaee9352b0d.JPG

the theming all over this park is so nice. . . I mean, it's in a beautiful location, but the effort put into making even the "non ride" sections look so nice, is impressive.

IMG_0488.thumb.JPG.68dec0471f06fddf9f0fa1b186819a89.JPG

sculpture gardens, just randomly in a section of the park.

IMG_0489.thumb.JPG.88062ca3218c4d659938a60751a0f1fb.JPG

and yes, the "teacups" ride is in a building that looks like a giant coffee grinder. . how awesome is that?

IMG_0491.thumb.JPG.5084e512caaab4435bda9e5cab62954e.JPG

one of the WFT things. . a leprechaun trash "sucker".. you put your hand in the mouth, and it sucks the trash in.     Bizzarre!

IMG_0492.thumb.JPG.21d92300f4687026ca3364bbcadc424f.JPG

we had heard there was a wine sampling/tasting area in this park - and had been given free passes to try. . so we wandered over to where we thought that area was.

this looked sorta themed to vinyards?   Lovely.

looking across the animal enclosure at the maypole ride. . it looked like a drop tower, but was really a nice "lift and spin" ride.

IMG_0497.thumb.JPG.388b7d286760ff1577aba1b879b981d8.JPG

speaking of animal enclosure. . I saw two in here. . and they were sleeping :)

we wandered back to the front section of the park, and came across this absolutely charming kiddie flume (that adults were not allowed to ride).

so adults get to ride in bathtubs. . kids get to ride in sacks of flour.

IMG_0501.thumb.JPG.91ce7aa8233b51a3ca10cd67976e839d.JPG

IMG_0502.thumb.JPG.2ab5d6700d1806d13fbd7061a99bcfa5.JPG

and closeby was this giant windmill. . .

IMG_0504.thumb.JPG.68d549a52ed628c9ee6a2c71197b73d7.JPG

with a really fun slide inside, that one sits on burlap sacks to slide down.

after climbing the massive amount of steps to the top.

IMG_0505.thumb.JPG.2bba4f0f10308acb4e0db466dfa12d36.JPG

whee!

IMG_0508.thumb.JPG.9d14a21086cb9cb23fdbef3f932ca8d0.JPG

so if the maypole isn't the drop tower, does Tripsdrill have one?

Yup, they do. .the "treehouse". . . situated across the lake from Hals-über-Kopf  - which we were going to ride again shortly.

the lake has one of those "slow moving boat rides" that also works as a splash battle. . but I didnt' ride this here, as we were only in park until 3pm, and there was way too much I still wanted to do here, that I didnt' want to spend 10 minutes slowly moving around the lake.

IMG_0509.thumb.JPG.10ee5f32e0590b870a7aa3b25b976d8d.JPG

here is the treehouse drop tower tho.

IMG_0510.thumb.JPG.5df74002094a38b80373e0b9667307ad.JPG

hmm. . not very high. . .but it had been highly recommended that we ride it.

I won't really spoil - other than what you can see in the pics -  but this SCARED THE SHIT OUT OF ME !!
so, so good. and absolutely a do not miss in this park.

and when we came down after our cycle, the operator said something to us in German, and we didnt' know what he was asking, and so we gave him a thumbs up (thinking he was asking if we liked it). . apparently he asked if we wanted to go again - as he cycled us back thru again!    Just as terrifying the 2nd time.

Ride it, enjoy it, and hang on for dear life!

we  made our way back to the "Vinyard" section, and went the the wine museum - where we were each given a Tripsdrill shot glass for sampling/souvenir purposes (that's what the upcharge is for, really, but we got gifted passes for them)..and then down the winding steps to the wine cellar.

where there are multiple options to sample different wines.

IMG_0531.thumb.JPG.b819aeda6f081eac753b07fc8fa9aac1.JPG

after having wine. . we made the BRILLIANT decision to ride the other "Spinning" ride - similar to the crockpots. . but this time in wine barrels.

IMG_0532.thumb.JPG.a7566749cbcad9e02ae437e90da7777e.JPG

yeah.. all smiles now. . got off it a little green tho. . . .

how about a picture of Jere ?   he hasn't' been in any of my pics yet . . here he is walking by and laughing at us in the wine barrel.

it doesn't look like it spins much. . and it doesnt.   at first.

then once starts spinning?  it really doesn't stop.  (and you can't control the spins!)

feeling a bit wobbly after the spinning, we decided to check out some of the walk up WTF attractions that are all over this park.

and the lovely gardens around everywhere.

IMG_0540.thumb.JPG.d3b7af7733276c558c84989f030b93e6.JPG

IMG_0541.thumb.JPG.253c8dbf852d31e882a89dc44b59d942.JPG

yup. .a  nekkid Adam and Eve.

but watch out for the serpent hidden in the trees on the right - as one of our group discovered when they leaned in a little closer to look at the nudity.

the serpent SPRAYS you with "venom" (water), if you lean in too close.

HAHAHAHHAHAHA

IMG_0542.thumb.JPG.67d92b4bf7c410914fdeb1f69bc03981.JPG

and then there are the pulleys at this well..that you pull on and what comes up?

apparently children that you are drowning!  (are they witches?  who knows?   WTF).

IMG_0544.thumb.JPG.984fd88833d1bb9d52d62229a1b67103.JPG

that happens if you stand there and watch long enough. . with a full procession slowly marching from one side to the other.

what is this "dead creature" in a box.

with a crank?

I don't speak German, but that sign is implying to turn the crank. . .

IMG_0548.thumb.JPG.39b9d41785811346d53fa622f46d861b.JPG

which activates this entire animatronic forest scene. . . . bizzare!

IMG_0549.thumb.JPG.1ebfbe31783fdcbd64dce5f6191cebc4.JPG

these are ladders that you climb up.

then an animatronic comes out of the window and yells at you.

no.  really.

HAHAHAHAHAHA.

IMG_0550.thumb.JPG.eca9c428944ab62017f19b5468cdf635.JPG

and this guy was a love doctor. . who, I believe, told James and I that we were going to be very happy together!

IMG_0551.thumb.JPG.eac133ad5405b6d4055edc00eb5582e7.JPG

it was getting close to leaving time. . so we did a quick lap around the parts of the park we hadn't been to yet.

yes, the tilt-a-whirl is themed.. you ride inside pies!

IMG_0552.thumb.JPG.a2160c2483823a6bce4eee9228503103.JPG

but we *had* to do the funhouse we had heard about, but somehow had been missing.

luckily we bumped into Robb & Elissa with Kristen who kindly brought us right to the funhouse entrance so we could experience it.

IMG_0553a.thumb.JPG.a8dd2102e0fa1506fb2abea23669a1f3.JPG

while some of our group went to ride the giant plane ride, James and I went over to ride the park's closest thing to a Carousel (well. .it's not a carousel at all. . but it has horses).

IMG_0554.thumb.JPG.0605d42903e43d099ec5e257e51fdfc1.JPG

you can choose to ride on the horses. . .

IMG_0555.thumb.JPG.f4e314e5b588e9b024476db8e5fe3ede.JPG

or in the carriage that the horses "pull"

IMG_0556.thumb.JPG.71cd3073a7872a81419cf7422a71c44a.JPG

of course we chose the horses.

these are the faces one makes, when the ride starts moving on the course, and one realizes that the horses are going to "Gallop" the entire way.. throwing you back and forth, and almost tossing you off the ride, so you hang on for dear life, laughing the entire time.

IMG_0557.thumb.JPG.d4285b9aa5c59c9452c5ce772c916c31.JPG

catching our breath after our hilarious horse & buggy ride, we met up with the rest of the group for a snack.

mmmmm. . everything looked good.

IMG_0559.thumb.JPG.80dd6b185be179b8348c7a6810d41546.JPG

but I went for the Nutella Crepe. . which was so hot, burned myself inhaling it (it was really good. . and we were so early in the trip, I hadn't burned out on Nutella just yet)

IMG_0560.thumb.JPG.8889a04c9afe41753913bde4e79900de.JPG

another game where you shoot balls out of a milk container, into a cow's udders.

(oh, and a nice German fellow who was waiting for his crepes as well
what can I say?   I still needed something to even out those bewbs from the flume ride!

IMG_0561.thumb.JPG.7570efd48a7404eac4ffe0f6d67a1f83.JPG

again. . stunning views in this park!   (think this pic may have been from the Maypole ride)

IMG_0567.thumb.JPG.8ea0ed61106b17790008e9cf38d4c512.JPG

um. . I dunno

IMG_0568.thumb.JPG.d14f99befc6757a8b9959f380c5c0163.JPG

a photo op with Ian?

Sure. . why not.

IMG_0565.thumb.JPG.472afe27bf0e9480d03410a67f4990f7.JPG

at least I got to be the guy this time :)

IMG_0566.thumb.JPG.e428ff6d4c1c0fe8b2514375cefb0ccd.JPG

whee!

IMG_0569.thumb.JPG.0d5c1d9b068770fe8717ef14130a985b.JPG

another moment of WTF. . near the maypole.

the outhouse door pops open, and the man pooping, yells at you!

such a bizarre park. .and I LOVED it so much.

IMG_0570.thumb.JPG.1f800471e4ec1ba6fbfd1cebf20a6a39.JPG

a pic of the group I was hanging with by Brad (I think) from the elevated monorail ride as he passed above us.

IMG_0579.thumb.JPG.39244fc34876d3a79c5ac490d75365c5.JPG

and with the Maypole ride done, and some quick shopping at the front gate, we headed back out to the bus.

we quickly were on our way.. we  had to make it to Holiday Park for some ERT tonight on Expedition GeForce - but it had already been an amazing day.

to be continued. .  .

and we met up with @Pedrinhoand his family who came out to meet up with Robb & TPR at the park. . and we ended up riding this with them (tho his son did NOT want to share a car with me. . LOL)

Was still great to meet him and his family. .

Thanks, Bert! It really was an amazing day for us, meeting you guys and having some ride with you! :)

I think, you may be the winner with Paul not riding with you, since he didn't want to go high in his car ;)

But I'm sure, next time he will not be missing out on the opportunity to share a ride with you! :)

We need more of these new Vekoma SLC's...they're amazing rides!!!  Karacho is not a Smiler clone, but similar...like 1/3 of Smiler!  Smoother and better in my opinion!

lemme adjust comment on Karacho.

and 100% agreed on that Vekoma. .it was SO good!

^ I think it's hysterical. . .LOL

if they sold a magnet of puking guy (lenticular, like they do with the Maypole), I'd TOTALLY have bought it. :)

Hysterical until it starts a chain reaction of puking, 🤣 😜 Although normally I do love a lot of theming, but no puking guy magnets on my refrigerator, where I keep the food!!

Enjoying all of your TPR-Euro TRs, Bert. Lots of my own TPR Euro-Memories from earlier TPR tours,

in these parks you visited. And those random (sometimes moving) figures in Tripsdrill park were awesome!

And some of them are scary-creepy at the same time. Eep. 😵

Hugs for the share. 🫂

Day 4, part II - evening rides on Expedition GeForce at Holiday Park!

the sky is starting to look a little angry (Andy!!!) . .but we made it here to Holiday Park. .and we quickly made our way towards the front gate to meet our park guide

IMG_0582.thumb.JPG.a1172701a6009255a19b46ea94f6bb4f.JPG

it didn't look too busy up here, by the impressive front gates. . but then again, it was fairly late in the day (I think around 5?), and the park closed shortly.

soon enough, we were in the park, and being led back to the tell-tale orange track of this famously brilliant coaster - the crown jewel of this park:   Expedition GeForce

the ride is sponsored by a local rock station, and there was some pretty heavy music playing over the speakers in the station (if I recall, Metallica, W.A.S.P. , Slayer, etc)

oh. and yeah, it lives up to it. . this ride was SO good.   TONS of airtime, and that first angled drop?  in the back?   amazing.

it doesn't look too intimidating. . but oh my, what a great ride full of airtime hills, and that speed.

IMG_0603.thumb.JPG.1afbc9570dedd91bc4fbbd586586b115.JPG

once it REALLY started coming down, several of us abandoned the coaster (we'd gotten multiple rides already, and were gonna be back in the park tomorrow).

we put on our parkas, and huddled for cover under a covered portion of the queue. . . while a few of the more enthusiastic enthusiasts on the trip, braved the pouring (and stinging) rain, to keep riding.
the park kept running the coaster for those who wanted to keep riding. . .even tho they all came off *completely* soaked.

Here's Robb headed to join us under the shelter, and modeling the TPR Parka that many of us made use of.

eventually, the ERT time (and the rain ended). . and we all made our way back towards the bus. . thru an eerily deserted (and very wet) Holiday Park.

but for now, it was past 7pm, and it had been a long day.     We headed back onto the bus for the short drive to Hotel Löwengarten in Speyer, Germany.

we had to unload the bus, check in, and it was still early enough (and the rain had stopped) that we had time to head out into the town to explore a bit - and find something for dinner.

to be continued in part III with pics of the town, and the lovely brewhouse we found for dinner. .

^ Wow Bert, that's awesome they're still giving you, your wine sampler glasses as souvenirs! I still have mine from 2008, AND I actually have that other small (I called it a) juice glass with Tripsdrill characters on it. Very cool to see those souvenirs still exist at the Park.

Here's my pair from there. A bit dusty, but still useful, when cleaned up.

Day 4, part III -

we shortly arrived at the Hotel Löwengarten in Speyer, Germany and got checked in and settled into the room.

the rain had stopped completely. . (it had been drizzling when we got to the hotel), so a group of folks was going out to explore the town's nightlife (a couple of groups actually). . tho one group of folks seemed more interested in the local pub rather than just food 😛

I synced up with mostly the folks I had hung around with all day, plus a couple of others, and we set out to wander the streets and find someplace for dinner.

a bunch of pics while we wandered around this beautiful German town looking for a place to eat:

ooo. . a central square.  This looks busy, and promising.

straight ahead was a place that seemed to be a local brewhouse that also had food.

we headed that way to take a look at what was offered, and see what kind of food.

the menu looked really good, so we decided to try it out.   The owner (nor staff) spoke very little English, but he was thrilled to have a group come in on what was a rainy evening and I'm sure kept folks in.

the group of us tonight.
clockwise Ltr:  Ian, Jon, James, AJ, Ryan, Andrew, and myself

and we were being blessed (I think?) by this guy in the alcove over our tables

IMG_0636.thumb.JPG.05ddabf5bacf101f587010b709ccf4b8.JPG

luckily Ryan spoke enough German to get us seated, and to translate what some of the offerings were (some of us also used google translate on the menu)

While most went for Beer -- I mean, we were in Germany - I'm not a big Beer fan, so went for a Riesling.

the owner asked me if I wanted small or large, so I said large.

yup. .this is what came out. . a TUMBLER of Riesling.       and yes, I was absolutely feeling it by the end of the meal. .LOL

Cheers!!!

I had munched at Tripsdrill, and at Holiday Park, and wasn't super hungry, so I did the Octopus appetizer.

it was absolutely amazing, one of the best things I had on the trip, and grilled just perfect!

IMG_0643.thumb.JPG.aa3c179eb4b469e1be99d86d85861258.JPG

James had, I think, one of the Schnitzel varieties (as did several others)

IMG_0644.thumb.JPG.efb1a7f9bf0c3b45e210deda9a7692b4.JPG

tho I think Ian had a pita ?  (in Germany?)

but oh yes, we saved room for desert. .

I mean. . . .

IMG_0637.thumb.JPG.369fefd006d8c0349d66a67890bc6380.JPG

I had the Apfelstrudel. . . it was SO good.   and so rich, I recall sharing it with folks.

IMG_0648.thumb.JPG.c0bacf7cbb170b94d7688b204395e8df.JPG

the owner came over after our meal and brought us several rounds of shots.

they were licorice flavor (which i *hate*). . but since he brought them as a gift, I went ahead and drank it. . .then he brought over another round for the table.
they were gifts, as he was happy to have tourist customers, so we sucked it up and drank them (tho those that don't drink passed along the shots to others, since it's rude NOT to take them).

i think the 1st one might have been Underberg, since that's a liquor that promotes digestion . . yes, I looked up "German liquor that tastes like licorice". . .

IMG_0650.thumb.jpg.56f573e748d41efe52472472063ddc0b.jpg

I was most definitely feeling my tumbler of wine (and the shots) as we made our way back to the hotel - as it was finally getting dark.
(not many pics, as they came out blurry. . gee . . I wonder why?????   😛 )

IMG_0651.thumb.JPG.08182aa2c670f4204f6dcbd799d8cd2b.JPG

but I made sure to take a pic of this tiny fairy door - near someone's normal sized front door - as we passed by.

IMG_0653.thumb.jpg.557255783db6233076ddd32b425745ed.jpg

and tons of cigarette machines. . on almost every corner.

the amount of stickers on it was very punk tho, and pleased me

IMG_0654.thumb.JPG.2700f6f5da1ffa317762dd03ce89236d.JPG

finally getting up to the room, and ready to crash after a long day, I finally remembered to snap a pic of the room:

Decent size, and comfy beds. . we were only here overnight tho, as we checked out in the morning prior to heading back to Holiday Park to enjoy the full park.

IMG_0655.thumb.JPG.06ec014d2281b22ddbabaa0d6d424cf3.JPG

decent size bathroom

IMG_0657.thumb.JPG.1304deec09060a48fb956c84590abd34.JPG

and enough space to spread out - even if just overnight.

IMG_0656.thumb.JPG.50dc5932d1f26c29e386a22d0f14c830.JPG

drunk bert, with nose strip on to prevent snoring (James said it doesn't work. . LOL. . but hey, I was tipsy), sending a good night pic home to Nick (:classic_sad:)

IMG_0658.thumb.JPG.219b03069d3eb7c730dce0e0cf50a2cb.JPG

and then turned in for the night.

it had been a great day, and we still had so much of the trip left ahead of us!
