Austin is getting a Rollercoaster!

I'm waiting to see a little more information on the legitimacy tat they are adding another coaster in 2023. Without going into what it may or may not be, I think it is great that they would have two original coasters in back to back years. Alongside all the info Bert has shared, Cotaland is really getting out there and being serious!

found what you were referring to in the pics that ACE posted from the event.  . yeah, he played it as a joke (oops. that wasn't' supposed to be in there!!). . but yeah, that's also right where he confirmed another coaster coming in 2023, and the audience question if it would be "another wooden coaster" in Texas.

so yeah. . apparently it was there, but I didn't register it as anything "newsworthy" because it was clearly a jokey-teaser (I mean SeaWorld teased that 2023 concerts were coming with Nickelback and Britney Spears. . and that was clearly a joke too. . and they said it was a joke during the presentation).

but yeah.. saw what you were referring to in ACEs post about the event on FB

Does anyone have any idea what this is? I think it's supposed to be part frisbee, part sky coaster...not really sure though... Either way it's apparently called SkyBlazer and is coming to COTAland this year...

https://www.coaster101.com/2022/02/07/skyblazer-coming-to-cotaland-in-2022/ (Concept art from the article, there is more at the article couldn't get it to come over to TPR, probably user error...)

Apparently it's a collaboration between Skyline Attractions (uh oh...) and US Thrill Rides (who again?). Looks like an interesting idea to say the least...

scroll back a page. .  it's been talked about, and they also told us about it at Winterfest.

they have an exclusive contract. . it will be the only one in Texas.

it's a skycoaster but instead of 2-3 folks "flying" it's a "Disc-o" type seating for up to 24, i think they told us.

it free-spins during the ride (after the free fall, while it's swinging)

Well apparently the president of COTAland wasn't joking... (Congratulations, you've got even more reason to celebrate Bert!)

They've "announced" (more like put in a random news article) that COTAland will (supposedly) be receiving America's First and Only TILT Coaster, in 2023!!

https://www.fox7austin.com/news/full-amusement-park-with-roller-coasters-coming-to-cota-in-2023?fbclid=IwAR3YYH-L8VvL9ZeDPPBYF2gjeyX-uRjMSiZXG9nE8wiC6mEFVIkYeJvTEp4

From the article:

"It'll [COTAland] be equipped with at least 25 rides when it opens, including five roller coasters.

"We expect the kiddie park to open sometime this year and then the thrill rides and entire park to open in 2023," he said.

One of those coasters will be the Circuit Breaker, which will provide a truly unique experience.

"It’s a tilt coaster, it’s going to be the first of its kind in America. It does have a sister overseas. It’s just the most neat experience to be dangling facing downward waiting for it to drop," said Matt Hughey, Sr. Manager of COTA Karting and COTALAND."

Sadly, no other details were provided, at least that I could find.

I have seen some photos and stuff floating around of Vekoma working on something mysterious at their facilities in Europe, which makes me wonder if this is what they are working on? Allthough, I've also heard that a tilt coaster is planned for Energylandia as well.

Gotta love that name though..."Circuit Breaker"...I can hear the puns now...

This might refer to the upcoming tilt coaster at Energylandia or Six Flags Qiddiya.  Either way, it is exciting given that this is likely the first next-gen Vekoma thrill coaster in America

Yep, our very own MrRC has been posting pictures in this thread here of a tilt prototype at the Vekoma facility, largely assumed to have been the one going to Energylandia (as they'd already announced one), but it would appear now that with the red track/blue supports, it is actually the COTA one.

And...here's (allegedly) the layout for Circuit Breaker! No clue how accurate it is...but supposedly it's straight from the park to ACE. (Images from ACE South Central's Facebook)

Now THAT looks like a solid layout to me! None of that "anticipation turn" garbage...

I agree with everyone else though...the more I hear about this place...the weirder it seems to get...

Also, they put these images out on April Fools day so maybe we should all take them with a grain boulder of salt?

Picture from Vekoma's Instagram of the tilt track sections. Interesting that the caption mentions four tilt coasters. We know of this, Energylandia's and Six Flags Qiddiya, but not sure yet where the fourth is going. Maybe China? Or maybe Energylandia's getting two, just because it's Energylandia and that's the kind of thing they do.

Given the day that it is...I refuse to give this any credence, which makes me sad because that looks damn awesome.

I hope this turns out to be real lol

EDIT: Seems it's legit 😮 damn. With that layout even if it's got decent speed could pack some punch. Already excited for 2023!

The last one is for Gröna Lund in Sweden.

again, not holding my breath tho, as they have not even started clearing the area where Palindrome is supposed to go.

oh, I'm still excited that we have the Schwarzkopf Wildcat. . .   but refuse to get excited much about anything else until they at least start the ground clearing. . .   (saw what happened with that planned park in Houston over and over).

Excellent start here tho, in that we do have the Wildcat already!

I just really hope they get this thing built quickly, and I get to ride it before Texas makes it illegal to be gay again.

Indeed. Sadly you probably won't have to wait too long for that. 😕

ok. . so it's been a long time. . with not a lot of movement.

*but* there has been some land clearing going on recently!!

and per Matt's major update yesterday at Winterfest?

red-tape has been cleared and vertical construction on Palindrome to start shortly. . with expected completion in late April.   *however* the ride will not open to the public immediately, and might wait until the park officially opens in 2025.    (but there is a *really* good chance that people will be able to start riding the coaster prior to full COTAland park launch, as they need to get the required number of hours operating in for approval to open.. . so there's a good chance if Palindrome is complete in April, that we may get to start getting rides on it in 2024 still).

all rides are either on-site, or in transit.  and YES, that includes the Tilt Coaster, Circuit Breaker!

in fact, Matt invited all of us at Winterfest yesterday, to come visit COTA for a couple of hours this morning to see the Circuit Breaker track in person.  (sadly, I had other plans already and couldn't make it.. but Matt kindly told me I was welcome to share his pics).   So here ya go.

so big takeaways:

1) Red tape issues resolved, and vertical construction starting on Palindrome shortly

2) followed by construction on the main park, and Circuit Breaker - track all on site already - 1st train fully manufactured and in transit to COTA

3) toward end of 2024, move main entrance rides (current coasters & rides) over into COTAland

4) for opening in 2025 of full park.
