Garet
This one was announced a while ago but I tend to hold off on these announcements since with Korean announcements they either turn out to be completely wrong (Disney Korea), canceled (Universal/Everland hotel resort), built-in completely different locations (Robot Land) severely delayed (GyeongJu World's dive coaster) or completely different from the concept art (Shinhwa World) and this one already has conflicting artwork. Lotte's Magic Forest is coming to Busan in 2021. This is much closer to their existing water-park than the main Lotte World in Seoul. It was announced a while back with concept art featuring a few coasters, including a wooden one, and a sky screamer but now construction walls have gone up with new art I feel more confident posting the announcement. However, it seems already the artwork has changed. Again, why I am never interested in being the first to announce these and hold off on them until things are more concrete but construction is now officially underway so I'm posting it anyway. For example here is the original concept art: Source Here is another article that says construction starting in 2019. The main park is in the middle with a separate Luge Park to the left. You can see what looks like a Blue Fire clone and a Mack Power Splash. This is also the picture on the construction walls where ground flattening is now taking place. Source Then there was the Luge website includes different artwork which has I think an Expedition Geforce clone (yes please!) now instead of a Blue Fire clone, and a disk-o coaster instead of the Power Splash. Source I can't find anything official from Lotte but reading some Korean news it seems the developers are a different group the GS conglomerate but most of the articles refer to it with Lotte in someway. Perhaps they have licensed the name? GS Retail is actively working on creating a theme park and creating local jobs, which will become a core facility of the Eastern Mountainous Syrian Tourism Complex. GS Retail participated in the opening ceremony of the Ossia Theme Park on August 16 as a representative weekly council. GS Retail established the PFV in the Syrian Theme Park in 2016 to develop the Tourism Tourism Complex. As a representative weekly company, GS Retail will manage the overall project of the theme park development project in the Tourism Tourism Complex. Ossia Theme Park PFV will invest KRW 780 billion to create a tourism complex on the 500,000765㎡ site of Guri-ri, Gijang-eup, Gijang-gun, Busan. PFV (Project Financing Vehicle) is a nominal company that is established to promote the real estate development business efficiently. The theme park in Osri Tourism Complex is a theme park aimed at a luxury complex tourism complex. A shopping mall, a luge experience hall, a hotel, etc. will be sequentially created. When the tourism complex is completed, it is expected to become a key tourist attraction representing Southeastern Busan, which will increase the number of tourists from various groups. Along with the groundbreaking ceremony, an agreement was held to create jobs in the tourism complex and to activate the employment of local talent. GS Retail CEO Huh Yeon-soo and Busan Mayor Augusta signed the event. The main agreements include the provision and exchange of mutual information to create a job ecosystem, active job creation, and strengthening employment capabilities. Since then, public institutions, academia, theme park operators, and locals gathered together to hold the celebration of the groundbreaking celebration (colored smoke screen), followed by popular trot singer Park Hyun-bin and Dong-a University cheering team. An official from GS Retail said, “The groundbreaking ceremony and celebrations are expected to help promote the tourism complex and increase the interests of the local people.” "We will make various efforts to help us create more jobs through this job creation agreement." KBrylczyk
It's gonna end up being a Vekoma SLC and Huss Topple Tower instead of GeForce and Disk-O. Or the triumphant return of Aquatrax.
prozach626
I don't understand what the concrete paths with the ski lifts are. At first I thought it was a go-kart track, but that doesn't look to be the case.
Nrthwnd
^ ....The main park is in the middle with a separate Luge Park to the left. The concept art doesn't look that right, but from what's posted, that's supposed to eventually be a Luge Park beside the theme park.
Garet
I rode one in Singapore years ago, it's basically just riding a toboggan down a mini-road instead of a tube with a handlebar attached to the usual lever for braking. I prefer the toboggan/alpine coasters since these tend to be slower but on the plus side if there's a mother/child ahead you can go past and keep up your speed instead of being stuck going 1mph for the rest of your ride (this happens way too often to me on those coasters) There's been a couple open in Korea over the last few years but I can't be bothered to stand in this big of a line for it: [fbvideonew]https://www.facebook.com/351669398831855/videos/322807008604972/[/fbvideonew]
SharkTums
I thought the toboggan road attraction in Singapore was awesome, I hope this project sees fruition.
Garet
^ The existing ones here in Korea and zip-lines recently have been really popular so when a Luge Park or zip-line is announced I have more confidence in those announcements than I do new park announcements. SharkTums
^Interesting. I have never seen the same attraction as in Singapore. I'd love to do more of them!
Garet
^I think there's currently at least 5 open in Korea, maybe more. Mosts are a different company but the one under construction in that concept art is the same company as the one in Singapore. They already have one here in Korea and I think it's been successful since their one route is being expanded so it'll have 6 different routes. https://www.skylineluge.com/en/
Garet
I looked up the Osiria project listed in some of the articles and found their official site with more concept art. The site includes the art that has the Blue Fire clone and Mack Power Splash and the description on the site lists those two coasters stating a 100km/h Blue Fire and 13 stories vertical drop power splash. The last art-work seems to have the disk-o coaster but with the official site stating a Blue Fire clone and Mack Power Splash I'm going to work under the assumption that is currently the closest to the final layout. Garet
Apparently, the footers for the Blue Fire clone are being poured, I'll be honest I don't usually follow early construction that much so I can't tell from these. Source The park is also pairing with Legacy Entertainment for the design of the park. A lot of the rides at Lotte World come from this same partnership when Legacy Entertainment was known as the Goddard Group. Source
Garet
I've been keeping an eye on construction updates but didn't really want to post any more dirt or empty land photos. The only real update was some buildings starting to go up but they were mostly just scaffolding but one of them had the scaffolding come down. I believe this building is to the right of the main gate on my first post. (The rest of this article uses outdated concept art). From what I've seen so far online it seems this building is further along because it will be the park's base of operations. Source
Garet
Found a link to a shop design that shows some concept art for the Mack roller coaster. Garet
Track work is moving along on the Blue Fire clone. The first spike of the Power Splash has also been installed which you can see in the corner of the next door's Luge Park construction picture below which interestingly lists Lotte World for an August opening.... Not sure if they're just confusing that opening with the Luge Park because it seems there's still a lot of work to be done. Garet
I'll try not to post too often unless there is significant progress but posting these because better quality pictures were posted today on the message board today compared to the ones I found on another site yesterday. Garet
^ The original one or two that popped up were constantly busy and since they're relatively cheap to run and upkeep there seem to be quite a few popping up or under construction around the country. The ski/countryside resorts especially have been jumping on the bandwagon and building them.
Garet
Turntable confirmed, it was on the blueprints but still nice to see confirmation, it's an older picture since track work for both coasters is now complete: Source Castle has been topped off: Source And the Giant Swing has been installed, someone more knowledgeable than me can probably identify it, looks like the park has gone for a Zamperla rather than another Intamin Gyro Swing like the sister park. Garet
The park seems to be almost complete, reportedly opening in September, but with corona hitting record highs in the country I can see Lotte delaying to avoid the negative press other parks have been seeing. Flat rides have been testing but no sign of the roller-coasters or water ride testing yet, but in more important news (for Elissa) the luge park next door is open. The park is pretty small overall, but any new additions in Korea are welcome and it's pretty common for these types of developments where adding a family park is a requirement as part of the development deal to add shopping malls or casinos (e.g. Shinhwa World, Wonderbox, or the proposed casino resort in Incheon) Quote New amusement park in Busan This photo shows the new theme park Lotte World Adventure in Busan, which is undergoing the final touches before opening in September. SharkTums
^HA! Thanks for the shout out! Hey, like you said, it's a new park in Korea with some decent rides. Small or not, I think this will help us come back sooner than later!
Garet
Oh, there'll be no complaints here. I'm very excited although I'll wait until the 'new' factor wears off and queues die down so probably a 2022 visit. I've just seen some discussion about how the park will probably have less than 10 rides total at opening and I think people need to keep their expectations in check. Without doing too much of a deep dive into Korea and it's developments, unlike older parks like Everland, Seoul Land, Lotte, Gyeongju, or E-World or even newer parks that have been built as just parks like Robot Land or Legoland, this is a theme park that is part of a development complex. What that means is that parks are usually just a requirement of building the malls or casinos. In this case, there's a premium shopping mall here so for the owners, they don't actually want you doing a full-day park. With the park and the luge next door, the actual aim is to get people into the mall. So people will probably only do 2-3 Luge rides and then go to the mall. For the park, having too many rides works against what their intentions are, and even then this park is still much bigger than most of this kind. I think I remember TPR members on one of your trips encountering at the original Lotte World, that the park was no re-entry so if you left you were basically stuck in the mall. It's an interesting Google but it's actually illegal for Koreans to casino gamble, even abroad, apart from one casino (which was built in the middle of nowhere to make it hard, but everything just built up around it and there's now a water park and one of the biggest ski-resorts in the country there). So when the casino/hotels show up they're usually built with foreign players like Chinese in mind so their required amusement areas normally come with the bare minimum of rides like Wonderbox or Shinhwa World or sell pay per ride tickets. They're just there because they need to be.
Garet
Park seems almost done, ticket offices, signs and entrances going in. No official announcement on opening, there had been rumors of September/October but Korea broke another record for Corona yesterday so it could be a case of not wanting bad press when crowds rush there (which Everland had in the Summer). Looking at the signs it seems the park has moved on from just Lotte's Magic Forest to Lotte World Adventure Busan Magic Forest perhaps to connect it more to the sister park in Seoul. (I've updated the title thread to reflect this) Entrances: Also this Blue Fire clone comes with a giant butt shot: Source
Garet
Proving enthusiasts are very similar worldwide, people seem to be a bit upset that the luge lighting and structure gets in the way of Lotte's theming... Source
