Visionist
Apologies if this has already been posted. New-Jersey-festival-ride-death First Mexico and now Jersey. This is an awful thing to happen to a ten year old. Thoughts to the family. Ironically Jersey has some of the strictest laws regarding restraints. We'll see what happened here but it doesn't increase my sketchy faith in carnival rides.
Canobie Coaster
We'll have to see if it was rider misbehavior (ex. standing up like on Rye Playland's Mind Scrambler) or mechanical failure. There was a Sizzler accident in Massachusetts back in 2014 where the seat fell apart. Link Prayers for the victim's family.

Either way this is an awful story.
larrygator
The Rye Playland scrambler incident was not standing up. the girl was not sitting upright, she was lying on the seat and slid under the restraint door. The Old Mill accident at Rye was a kid standing up getting out of the boat.
Canobie Coaster
^ Thanks for clarifying. I knew it was an incorrect riding position.
B&MIntaminGCI
Oh wow, when I heard it was in New Jersey I was expecting it to be Skelly's Amusements because they do a lot of the New Jersey, PA shows. I grew up going to their carnivals and fairs and it always seemed like they took excellent care of their rides. Painting, new lighting packages, and all that jazz. I'm very interested to know the cause behind it. RIP to the girl.
