RAWKIN_coaster38
This has been a long long time coming but I just hadn't done it. This will be my master thread of trip reports. If you're lucky, I might even dig back to find previous TRs and provide links on here for a lot of them going back and back. If you're really, really lucky, I might write TRs for big trips I did in the past but never got around making TRs for. Stay tuned for KI Haunt opening night TR! RAWKIN_coaster38
Friday night was the first night of Kings Island Haunt! I arrived just in time for the opening ceremony and met up with a fellow coaster enthusiast. He's fairly new to the coaster enthusiast game and has gotten involved with a different YouTube coaster community, but maybe I'll be able to convince him to leave the dark side and come to the light side known as TPR. Or is it the other way around? It was pretty busy for a long time on Friday, and we were both pretty tired from work and took our time going around the park, so I didn't get to do as much as I would have wanted. Still, we had a good time and were able to ride Timbers, Banshee, and Beast at night as well as doing the Field of Screams, Blackout, Wolf Pack, Backwoods Bayou, Kill Mart, and C.H.A.O.S. mazes and see Haunted Homecoming. We waited for Urgent Scare but something must have happened because the line stopped moving and we ended up bailing. The scariest sights I saw all night were two skunks roaming around the park, including one that was chilling uncomfortably close to the Urgent Scare maze queue. Maybe that had something to do with it having a delay? Overall, Haunt was a ton of fun (as usual) and I can't wait to go back! On to some photos The Haunt Facade is always a welcome sight to see! The Haunt decor looks great during the day, but even better at night I'm assuming this is for the kiddie Halloween stuff, but still pretty cool! Rivertown Reaping was one of the new scare zones this year, though I don't think I went through it at all Pumpkin eater is still probably my favorite scare zone! So many pumpkins... Time for the opening ceremony! They did some creepy stuff and waved some flags for each of the haunts, then set the monsters free Even creeps give fist bumps Kings Island comes alive the darker it gets This view will change dramatically by next year! Field of Screams It's actually Ohio themed A wheelbarrow of feet? Are we eating the pumpkins or the pumpkins eating us? "Now I lay me down to sleep, I pray the Lord my soul to keep..." AGHHH!! Spider!!! Haunted Homecoming is definitely worth a watch! If you're into sexy women, you won't be disappointed "SCIENCE!!" O.O I didn't watch Drums of the Dead, but they sounded nice as I walked past I love these giant skeletons! Even my non-enthusiast friend had a ton of fun at Haunt Snaaaekkkee! Snnnnnnnaaakkkeeee!! Well, I guess the shed is safe now Drop Tower got stuck here for a few minutes before being slowly lowered down. I guess you could say it was a let down for those guests. Come to the dark side! We have bad puns! What is scarier: Wolf Pack, or the dead bones of Son of Beast? Shipwrecked was a new scare zone this year There were some stunning sets for this zone In my opinion, Shipwrecked is definitely the most elaborate scare zone at KI this year Seriously, go out of your way to see some of this stuff You can even peek into the ship... just keep an eye out for whatever might be lurking behind you A scary clown carrying a scary clown... clownception?? Jack is still iconic to Haunt C.H.A.O.S. is a weird maze. You take some space drugs and then wander around with very few scare actors wondering what's supposed to be happening in this maze. Noted! I heard there might be some prime cut flesh on sale today Pumpkin Eater is really a-HEAD of the other scare zones in terms of theming Haunt tower scaring skeleton Haunt tower scaring skeleton scaring me Thank you all for reading, and get out to KI Haunt ASAP! Canobie Coaster
Great report! I thought the amount of wasps at Six Flags New England was bad a few weekends ago, but having skunks roaming a park is far more terrifying.

Nrthwnd
Great Thread Title! And I look forward to checking up, several of your past TRs. I know others have done this too, but yours is (I'd say) The Most Recent One, to get into. And it also makes me think about maybe doing the same, for all my travel threads. Bunching them together in one where-to-find thread. A Personal TR Library of a kind, hmmm? Works for me!

DILinator
Awesome TR, RAWKIN! Definitely brings back good memories of... Well, the last three years of being there with you! It certainly seems like KI has really upped the ante this year as far as scares, and atmosphere, and considering it was already impressive, I can only imagine how much more impressive it must be in person! I'm still not sure if I'll be stretching my streak of attending my favorite Haunt to 5 years in a row this year, but I'd definitely love to make it work somehow! If I do, hopefully I'll see you there again! Thanks for the hard work of putting this together and sharing it with us! I know how much of an effort they can be! RAWKIN_coaster38
Great report! I thought the amount of wasps at Six Flags New England was bad a few weekends ago, but having skunks roaming a park is far more terrifying. Thank you! And I totally agree. I almost high-tailed it out of the Urgent Scare line several times. It uses the old Spongebob theater area and queue if you're familiar with that, so not too easy to run away, and the skunk was in between everyone waiting. It finally got out when it ran off to the side and the guests there bee-lined out of there faster than ACErs heading to a buffet. Stinky Kitty > Stinky Enthusiasts KI seems to have their act together for Haunt. I need to get down there at some point. Imagine Stinky Enthusiasts getting skunked by Stinky Kitty And yes, KI is my favorite haunt event so far besides HHN and Knotts. Thank you! Honestly I almost made one a couple times and couldn't think of a thread title I liked, but I think this one is growing on me already. You should definitely make one too! I agree that it will help keep a personal TR library going. Sexy women AND science??? It doesn't get better than that! YES!! I don't know what the song is but that's basically what it's about. Seduction with science. Awesome TR, RAWKIN! Definitely brings back good memories of... Well, the last three years of being there with you! bert425
as to the Science song. . PKI Jizzman
Cedar Fair must have bought 500 of those giant skeletons because there were just as many at CP! I think KI does a fantastic job with Haunt - more than just masks and simple make up & set design. I love the original storylines and the effort each department gives. And then there's all that fog that fills in the valleys of Diamondback which makes it even more fun! Great report!

I can only imagine carving out those giant skulls or whatever they did. Would be a cool job to have! Great Kings Island Haunt report! But - where are the sexy gentlemen???? And that first skeleton you saw, looks like he's doing the Macarena or something, lol! Thank you! There are definitely some sexy gentlemen in the show too, but I already had a ton of pictures and the best ones I got were of the women. I'll try to make more of a point to get some pictures of the men next time Next TR will either be Coney Island from a few weeks ago or SFGAm from this upcoming weekend. Stay tuned! RAWKIN_coaster38
I'll probably have to split this into two posts because I took so many pictures. So, as promised, SFGAm!! My one and only previous trip to SFGAm had been in 2014. I went alone on a weekend (late summer or early fall, I can't remember exactly) and the park was decently busy. Goliath was new that year and I managed to snag three rides on it. It was my first RMC and blew me away, but now that I've ridden most of the North American RMCs, Goliath has fallen to the bottom of my list. Naturally, I was excited to ride Maxx Force, see how Goliath has held up in these 5 years, and catch the coasters I missed the first go around. I won't bore you with a long play-by-play of the day, but I'll mention some of the highlights: -Maxx Force was unbelievable! Great start to the day -Cold weather = shorter waits even on a Fright Fest Saturday. Except for Maxx Force, of course -Raging Bull is now Raging Cold -Speaking of Raging Bull, did they remove some trims since 2014? My ride in 2014 seemed way more trimmed than my ride last weekend. It's still one of my lesser-preferred hypers, but I appreciate it now way more than I did. -We found the cheat code for Goliath and Joker. Single rider line. Saved us an hour+ wait later in the day. We even got to ride in the front and back (not sure why it seemed like the back kept getting unfilled) and stick with our party a couple of times. One of the trains also had 3-4 rows that were single rider only. So that helped a lot as well. So... cheat code. Now you know. -Although Goliath is my least-favorite RMC, it's still the best coaster in the park, esp at night! -The Fright Fest stuff looked fun, but I wasn't going to spend $30 for the mazes and sacrifice more coaster rides. -Overall, a great return trip! I was able to do everything I wanted to do, including rerides on my favorites (besides Maxx Force) On to the photos! Gotta start the day out right! This is what I like to see! We had a train to ourselves (at least as far as the left side is concerned) Spoiler alert: X-Flight has gotten a bit rough in the back during the second half of the coaster. Not sure if it was just an off day for it or if this is the usual. Even the worst RMC is better than 90% of other coasters This looks familiar.... can't think of where I've seen it before The Flash??? Rode this later in the day. Hadn't had a chance on my first trip and I can confirm that it's now my favorite of the Batman clones Batman is still a fun and incredibly forceful ride, but it may or may not give you an aneurysm if you ride it in the back This has also gotten a bit rough. We rode towards the front. I still prefer my ex home park (SFDK's) mod version Next up: another new credit for Janae and one of the slowest moving lines complete with phone retrieval "short delay in operation." I can confirm that Six Flags still does not know how to operate a flying coaster efficiently. Am I at CGA? It's amazing how similar these parks look in some areas Don't eat corn syrup or this might be you "Whatever you do...don't...go in...the shed!!" I seem to remember Raging Bull being more "trimmy" the last time I rode it Raging Bull is hereby deemed "Raging Cold" Gotta love a B&M hyper! This was running great on my trip!! Definitely appreciate it more but... Diamondback is still better I love what they did with the place. Crack kills, kids Despite visiting CGA a fair amount in the past, this was actually my first time on any of the two-tiered carousels The views were great! And they slowed down the music to make it sound more creepy and in theme with Fright Fest For the carousel nerds. This carousel is gorgeous! Condor: a classic! Also my first time on one of these rides. We're here early and ready to go! MaX-X-X-X Force This inversion looks even more massive in person Oooh boy! Great hangtime here
pǝʇɹǝʌuı
Great TR! I wish I could have been there, it looks like you had an awesome day! SFGAm is definitely on my list of parks I want to visit soon.
DILinator
Geeat TR, Janae! It was a blast to go to the park with you, and my kids, and I look forward to our next park connection, whenever and wherever that may be! I am planning on posting a TR as well sometime, but I didn't take as many pictures as you, so I'm glad you got a bunch. Plus, everybody's still waiting with bated breath I'm sure for Part 2 of my CW TR, so I need to decide whether to skip over that to do GAm! RAWKIN_coaster38
Part II: SFGAm gets creepy Halloween is my favorite time of year (yes, Halloween is a time of year and not a specific day) so even though I did not do the mazes at SFGAm, I still reveled in the atmosphere of Fright Fest. The park got increasingly busy, so it was tougher for us to find rides that had <20-30 minutes of wait. American Eagle, Viper, Demon, and Whizzer were a few with manageable lines. Raging Bull had a moderately longer wait (30-40 ish) but we wanted to ride it at night so we waited anyway. One interesting note about Fright Fest: DILinator's kids were terrified of the scareactors but the scareactors did not seem to discriminate between scaring teens/adults and young children (I didn't see that as much at KI Haunt when we visited), so we avoided the scare zones as much as possible because of this. In the last hour or so of operation, I took a detour to check out one of the scare zones towards the back of the park. It had mysteriously cleared out as well as a few of the others moving toward the front of the park. Upon rejoining my group, we headed over to ride Mardi Gras Hangover and found where all the scareactors were. ALL of them had moved into the front areas of the park and were basically swarming everyone. There was nothing we could do except get the kids through as quickly as possible. However, as I mentioned, the scareactors did not seem to care or notice that the kids did not want to be scared. At one point, a scareactor was bothering DILinator's 13-year-old despite her huddling against me in fear, and I said to him, "Don't bother her, she's young!" After our hangover, I went to hit up the Joker and Goliath single rider lines one last time before closing. Apparently the scareactors had convened at the very front of the park and were scaring people exiting the park. DILinator has some funny stories about their "escape" that hopefully he will share here. Also, 3000th post on TPR!! I'd like to thank the people who helped make this possible: Spectrum, for fixing my internet after 4 hours on the phone; my career, for giving me no life; my parents, for birthing a hopeless nerd; all of you for encouraging me in my nerdy endeavors; and Robb, for not banning me for writing the worst puns. Here's to 3000 more! (Hey, a girl's gotta have goals, right?) Some of the costumes were so incredibly creepy and awesome American Eagle has been overtaken by Spiders. Goliath at night is awesome! Muwah ha ha! Okay... CGA needs to get their sh*t together because Demon with all the effects working is AWESOME!! Especially at night! Although the ride itself is a bit rough, the cool lights, music, and sound effects made it worth riding, for sure! How many parks are NOT more frickin awesome at night with fog?? Not the only Rolling Thunder that the storm's over for... I just noticed that it's car #13... heh. I didn't know what 90% of the rides were, but it was still cool to pay my respects I'm picking up what you dropped there, Great America! Don't put baby in the corner "They said 'Save the Whizzer' and Shockwave became chopped liver" "Iron Wolf: Couldn't stand it" xD Back to your regularly-scheduled spooky fest This was a very cool touch that locals should love! The park put together a cemetery of old, "dead" rides which even included some ride parts and signs Ohio?? Who says Six Flags has no theming? Here is Six Flags theming at Six Flags! I told the kids that Fright Fest theming consists 90% of rusty cars and barrels. One of the kids said "it's scary because you could get TB!!" Hey a barrel! And propane tanks! AHH super scary fire hazard! Praise be to Anton!! Or are we done with that joke now? This was about when the scareactors started swarming us "Would you like to play a game??" I'm also trying to establish whether there is an ideal side and row to get optimal flipping. So far I'm saying back row with a fat dude is ideal. Thoughts? One of these rides gave me a hangover and the other was a new credit for me... any guesses as to which was which? This was only my second Free-fly coaster, but these things are really growing on me! "You know it would be hilarious if someone popped out and grabbed you while you were taking that selfie?" Hahahaha so funny! O.O Most aptly named coaster at SFGAm is also the most lit. Pumpkin smash head says he is awakening the demons and spirits at Great America Has anyone told him Fright Fest is over for the night? The demons and spirits can go home to finish their homework before their high school math test on Monday. Goodbye SFGAm! Until next time!
PKI Jizzman
Awesome report! I love the main entrance during Fright Fest and a lot of locals rave about some of the shows they put on. Too bad to hear about some of the rides getting rough. That's really strange for VV.
VegasBaby
Great trip report, their Fright Fest theming is some of the best I've ever seen at a Six Flags. Canobie Coaster
Great report! That's odd they reserve seats specifically for single rider lines. The intent is to fill all available seats and not necessarily to get people on faster (although it usually has that benefit).

The intent is to fill all available seats and not necessarily to get people on faster (although it usually has that benefit). It wasn’t that they reserved the seats, but that the adjacent seats were not in commission that day. I’m not sure why that was. Given that they were relatively evenly spaced throughout the train (every three or 4 rows on the orange train) I almost wondered if it could have been a weight issue.
