BkkMan13
At Cedar Point in MF queue: Complaining lady (for the sake of the nerdy Portal 2 reference, I'll call her "Karla the Complainer"): Why does this ride have two stations, that's so inefficient! At Kings Island on Drop Tower: Me being nervous: Ah this is gonna be freakin terrifying! Random short chick with deep southern accent: putchyer man pants on! Commando
This isnt really something the GP said but one of the ride ops on Top Thrill Dragster told me to watch out for bats. It was about 10:30 at night and he clearly didnt want to be there any more. But it makes me wonder I get hit with bugs all of the time on Dragster in the front row but has anyone ever hit a bat? Schotcher
Opening at Mach Tower: I overheard multiple fail moments. #1. A group of guys were in line and were looking at Mach Tower. Man 1: Dude, at the top, the seats spread ou and move so that your in a skydiving position! Man 2: Rally? I don't think I can do it now. #2: A group of adults we talking about the tower. Woman: Whoah, turns out this is the tallest ride in the park. Man: Of course it is, it's like seven stories high. *Facepalm* 3. Group of annoying college teens. Man 1: Dude this looks so sick. Man 2: Yeah but it's not as tall and fast as Dr. Doom's fear fall at Universal. Man 1: I know that things like 400 feet tall and goes so much faster than this thing. And those were 100% real convos of the GP. Oh and by the way if you didn't know Dr. Doom's fear fall is about 200 feet and 40 mph. Mach Tower is 246 and 60-65. 154bmag
I got a couple while at sfdk today While walking into the park Wife: How do they V2 to launch like that?" Husband: I heard they use jet fuel Me: Its really LIMs a seires of electromagnits Husband: No I'm pretty sure its jet fuel Me: Who told you that? Husband: The ride controller At this point I walked away Later I overheard this: This ride (Vekoma Boomerang) goes like 200 ft and drops at 90 mph GP these days
disneyfan1313
I gotta throw my two cents in here - why is it strange that GP do not know or understand specific coaster stats or terms? Quite frankly I can't tell by staring at a coaster if it goes 50 or 70 mph or if the lift is 150 or 200 feet. Do you really feel that the average visitor to a park should memorize all of the stats for each ride? Just an honest question....
osm
^I know what you're saying, obviously the GP shouldn't be expected to know everything about coasters, or get the stats exactly right. But if somebody says that an SLC goes 200 mph for example, anyone can easily see that that's ridiculous. On the other hand, before I got into coasters, I always thought they were a lot slower and shorter than they actually are.
IanKgtr
I've met an abundance of people that absolutely insist that Kennywood's Jack Rabbit jumps off it's tracks during the double dip.

How many people have *seen* something going 200mph on the ground? They might not realize how fast that really is and quite frankly going 65mph on the right thing (see test tracks outside segment) can seem CONSIDERABLY faster. Couple that with the excitement of the ride, possibly being in the front seat, etc. I just think we shouldn't get so wrapped up in stats that we forget that the point of rides is to HAVE FUN. If someone thinks a coaster goes 200 mph - who cares! That means it was a memorable, fun and a little scary experience for them - not that they are stupid. I agree, but it bugs me when people INSIST they are right because they heard something from some obscure place or made an incorrect observation. It's understandable if they think a coaster is taller than it is or faster than it is, but when someone tries to correct them and they refuse to believe the truth... that's a different story. ABW
We're not going over this argument again. It doesn't do anything for us, or this thread. The thread is way too big to be arguing over.
Evanaj15
So, there's this episode of Jimmy Neutron in which Jimmy's Atom's get scrambled with a hamster. At one part, his dad talks about taking him to Retroland. He says.. "I love those zig-zaggy lines, that are...not straight.!" Anyway, i know it sounded dumb at first. But, when you think about it. Calling a rollercoaster a zig zaggy line that's not straight is kinda dumb. Edited August 22, 2011 by Evanaj15

coastermaniac
While in line for a ride at Cedar Point, a little kid looks at Millennium Force's lift hill and asks his dad, "why did they make it so tall?" I really wanted to tell him, "when you're tall enough to ride it, you'll understand why."
imawesome1124
I heard this at my friend's house last night: Friend: We go to Six Flags every summer. Me: Which one? Six Flags America? squirmy_wormy
One time I was at Great America with my cousin getting ready to go on the swing ride when I saw this lady with her kid. Now this kid was under the Cannot Ride line where one measures their children to see if they can ride. The kid was under the line and I clearly heard this lady say "We'll get you on. Nobody will really notice." I think 'Oh really?' They check the height at the beginning of the ride to see if your child can get on and you still think you can sneak him on with no one noticing?' I make no comment.

deathbydinn
^ I doubt it would happen with Cedar Fair parks since they all have different names while most Six Flag's say Six Flags in the beginning of the name.
