Weirdest Things The 'GP' Have Said

Recommended Posts

GP, FAQ:

Q1: How many times do we go upside down?

Q2: Do my feet dangle on this ride?

Q3: is this ride safe?

Q4: Did you here someone died on here thirty minutes ago?

Q5: What do you mean I can't bring my giant stuffed animal on the coaster?

Q6: Do I need a locker?

Q7: What's the big red/blue/green/etc. coaster over there?

Q8: Is this coaster steel or wood?

Q9: Does this coaster go underground?

Q10: Well if I ride with my 36' child, can he/she ride the coaster with a height requirement of 54'? Why Not?

Speaking of which, i just heard someone comment at KD, "I really liked the coaster where you go underwater! I thought I would drown at first!"

^^^^ The best one I heard was when some guy was talking to me in line for Superman at SFMM, and told an enthralling story of how the "cable snapped on this ride, and somebody died!!!" Man, I hate it when cables snap, especially on rides without them. That just pisses me off!!!

Q: (To a ride op at the entrance of Dragster) "Is this that!?" *Points to Magnum*

A: Yes, half-way through the train jumps off the tracks and lands over on the tracks by the beach.

[i hated This one...]

(AFTER checking someone's restraint) HEY! MISTER! EXCUSE MEE! (Flailing their arms and legs madly)

(I walk back to their seat) "What!?"

You didn't check my seat!!!

At Raptor:

"Sir, your child is too short to ride"

"It's ok, I'll hold on to him"

A woman and her child go in to park op and her child is barely 54 inches. The supervisor tells him to take off his shoes and the woman gets horribly offended and tells her kid to keep her shoes on. After being convinced that they could get kicked out of the park, she angrily tells her kid who is already crying to take his shoes off. The supervisor starts pulling stuffing out of the shoes while the mom is yelling angrily at him and her child is in the corner crying his eyes out. In the end, he is equipped with a 52" wristband.

After telling someone their kid is too short to ride DT:

"Sir, your child can't ride"

Looks back at the long line

"Well can we just cross over and leave?"

"No sir, it is against Ohio state law"

"What if I just carry him over?"

After a while, it just kind of becomes a joke...

Ride Op (me) measuring a child in line for Drop Tower, he is half an inch too short, I tell the mother that the child is too short to ride. Meanwhile every single pearson in line (around 40-50 people) starts to yell at me to let him on. I tell them that I cant allow him on. Finally as I let the other guest on the ride, they each persist on telling me how much of a stuck up snob I am.

Man we are not enough for that job.

Overheard last weekend will entering the Raging Bull queue at SFGAm:

"It says you have to be 54" to ride. He's not 5 foot 4." The teen who said this to his dad about his little brother looked about 17, at least.

At Busch Gardens for the final time of the season today. I've heard some pretty stupid stuff, but I was just floored when some kid, who is obviously failing his Physics class, proudly proclaimed

"This one [Da Vinci's Cradle] is really good because they only have a rope holding you up so you go faster."

The look on my face, my god. I left the ride stupider than when I got on, it was just...

Had a minor annoyance today at CGA...we were all in line for Black Widow's Cavern (Logger's Run) during the day time operation when first off a girl decides to wiz right past us in line to get with the rest of her group. The frosting on the cake? They had this little kid with them who was causing a line holdup because she was afraid of the fake spiders they had spread out the station and queue. Granted this was day time, I don't want to imagine what it would be like if it were Haunt operation. Anyway, she held the line up, the older siblings were boarding, then the operators had to stop the turntable due to this hiccup with that group. Finally, they got on, the girl just waited at the platform. In the mean time, the frightened girl was expecting the attendants to escort her to the exit. Not sure what would have been the best way to handle the situation other than maybe have the whole group leave as a group and not expect a ride operator to play babysitter.

Another baby sitter story: this morning we were in line for the flying scooters when the lady ahead of us (Her, a young kid probably 6 years old, and a stroller with baby in hand. She was in hopes that she could leave the stroller with the ride attendant next to the control booth while in the mean time causing a line to stack up like Tetris on hardcore mode. Finally she left with her kid and we got on.

Last one, I heard someone ask if Delirium (Revolution/Fireball-type ride) went upside down. I'm sure that question's the most common as I heard one ask how many times Demon goes upside down as well. Atleast they were aware of Demon's inversions but not sure what it had.

Here is the most annoying thing that the GP can possibly do:

Person: you know that one really cool coaster?

Me: can you be more specific?

Person: it's that one that goes really really fast!

Me: um...a lot of roller coasters go fast....

Person: yeah but this one was really really fast!

Me: what was the color of it?

Person: Red, no....White.....no....Green....I can't remember...it was really fast and stuff...

Me: I am supposed to know this ride with the minimal details you produced?

Person: well duh! You said you knew like ever fact a about roller coasters!

Me: I don't know what ride you are talking about....

Person: DUDE I TOLD YOU! ITS REALLY COOL AND GOES REALLY FAST!

Me: ugh that's like hundreds of roller coasters

Person: wow you fail. So much for knowing everything about roller coasters

(end idiotic conversation)

I have had this happen on multiple occations.....REALLY ANNOYING when the GP does this!

Someone once told me: Son of Beast is smooth.

Here in Italy (at least for those who live in the north) the main problem with general public is that there has been too many commercials saying that Gardaland is Italy's number 1 amusement park. So there's people that actually think that Blue Tornado is better than Katun.

Reading some of the stuff on CGA's Facebook sometimes deserves a laugh or 2. Recently, some angry person posted about an issue they had, contacted the BBB, and pretty much their complaint got denied...so they say they will take 10 minutes out of their time each day just to rant. Go GP! (You aren't really going to get anywhere other than make yourself look stupid and waste time lol)

^ You mean like this little nugget I just read on the SF GAm Facebook page?

"quick question why dont you have fright fest evry year soooooo many more people would come."

As several replies pointed out, they have had FF for almost 20 years. I was in high school when it started.

And then there was the one the other day on the same page about SF GAv currently erecting a Shockwave clone. Thankfully, someone had pointed out they just tore it down.

I feel dumber every time I leave that page.

Heard a few beauties at Alton Towers last night, when our Air train stopped in the final brake run for five minutes, due to some fault in the train that was in the station.

"If we fall from here, will we break anything?" (Possibly your nose.)

"Can you at least get us down?" (I'd expect the answer to be no, what with the hydraulics and stuff being in the station, where we weren't.)

"Oh well, at least we didn't get stuck halfway in midair (i.e., on the circuit)!" (We wouldn't.)

The comments were more uncomfortable then hanging in the flying position for five extra minutes.

I was wearing a Cedar Point shirt at school the other day and someone said, "Cedar Point... isn't that the place with Mantis? Isn't Mantis the tallest and fastest coaster ever?"

And I checked the KD page on Facebook a few minutes ago and found this little doozy...

to built a new giga and terra coaster over 500ft high, with loopings, twists, corcscrews, heartline roll, cobra roll, and more thrill elements

and a worldrecordbreaking 4th Dimension coaster S&S Power

That would have sucked more had it been a Zamperla Volare, rather than the B&M flyer. Being stuck for 5 minutes in that cage of death would have been worse. Plus having to deal with those comments.

^ Actually, it was perfectly comfortable being suspended from the B&M flyer restraints for five extra minutes, I didn't see what the fuss was about - I actually contemplated attempting to fall asleep, or at least meditate (for kicks), if the wait was long enough!

Not been on a Volare, so I can't really compare it.

Standups on the other hand are not comfy to be stuck on. After a while, the 'bike seat' begins to feel uncomfortable, your legs get tired and you want to sit...but can't. But that doesn't warrant silly comments like "I'm scared!" or "We're going to die!" when we are completely stationary, and there is only 1 train on the track.

Having been a ride op at Eltich's this summer, the GP's questions never fail to amaze me. Here are a few to start.

"Does this ride go upside down?" (I've been asked this at both Mind Eraser and Ghost Blasters)

"What were these guns for?" (often asked to me when I was at the unloader position on Ghost Blasters)

"Why didn't you design the ride to fit people like me better?" (lady on Mind Eraser who we had to deny because the restraint wouldn't push down far enough to lock)

"Why don't you open up those seats?" (On Chaos, where about half of the cars were broken and stuck closed for most of the season). I can understand the range of questions about this issue, but if the seats aren't opening, it's probably for a good reason.

Also, I cannot count how many times I heard people say Flying Coaster was closed because the cars flew off the track and everybody died.

One time in line for Intimadator 305 the ride was brocken down for like 5 minutes one person said "why is it shut down" the other person said "I saw lightning(refering to the camera) it hit the track." Then I heard abunch of people freaked out I did'nt want to correct them as when ever I do people argue, but its just annoying
