canadianparkfan
This video (mainly the comments on it) makes me question what the GP truely understand about rides. While these photoshopped rides look cool, it's pretty sad to see how many arguments have broken out in the comments section over whether they're real or not... Seriously!? Sure, the intro to the video makes it seem legit, (and I'll be honest, the quadruple decker HUSS breakdance/condor combo had me going ). But as the rides got crazier and more like something off thrillville, it wasn't hard to tell the vid was just a joke.

B&MIntaminGCI
Back in 2006 while in line for El Toro, someone insisted to me that Kingda Ka wasn't really 128mph, it was only 70mph and that Six Flags was lying I argued with him for a little because it was ridiculous, but then I had to let him win because he couldn't be told he was wrong, even though I never usually back down if I'm 100% right. VF15
I remember last June when Cedar Point closed due to the water main break, there were a few comments on the park's Facebook page asking if Soak City was still open. You really think they can open a waterpark if they don't have a water supply?

You really think they can open a waterpark if they don't have a water supply? To be fair it's not like most places drain and refill their waterparks daily, so there wouldn't really be a reason the slides can't run. Course, no bathrooms might put a damper on things but most people don't think about all the small details.
ImNotOneOfYou
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eWOYfuSkIhA There are some GP-ish statements in this video. Notably the classic "inversions require OTSR's".

Notably the classic "inversions require OTSR's". 3:25 - 3:31 "Hypers are usually out and backs, and out and backs don't have loops". Then in the video montage they show Goliath (not an out and back) and then Joker's Jinx which is not a hyper, not an out and back, and does have inversions Okay... TranceFan138
Here are a few I've heard that I really like. In the parking lot of SFMM: "El Loco has so much airtime. It'll have more than Twisted Colossus." In line for Lex Luthor: "Did you know Superman goes up into the atmosphere?!" At Lake Compounce's water park: "The Bizzaro at Six Flags is the most 'danger-est' ride in the world. Somebody flew out on there."

Someone did actually get tossed out of Bizzaro, granted it was a long time ago, and had nothing to do with the actual ride, but their statement wasn't entirely dumb. FlyGuy
idk if you guys keep up with SFA but last year Joker's Jinx got valleyed for about 3 or 4 hours I think (I swear they must run that ride on powersaver mode or something because the launch sucks now and it barely makes it over the hills).. Anyway last week in class my foundation of technology teacher was explaining to my class why he never rides rollercoasters, one of his points were "I know you guys remember last year when the Joker's Jinx got stuck upside down for hours" I literally couldn't hold it in I said "You really think people would be able to survivor hours upside down and have no injuries? Arent you a teacher?" I couldn't hold it in because everyone is saying that the people were stuck upside down.. I used to work at SFA as a ride operator and its almost funny how people think we have so much control over the ride lmfao.. They think we control the speed and harnesses its hilarious to hear the stuff people say. "If I was a ride operator I would make the ride go extra fast"

JJLehto
Besides all the god awful "this is a clone of (x)" the "unsafe" comments for sure. Better yet when they pretend to be smart in their comment/retort. I've gotten "I'm an engineer/know engineering so I KNOW how truly dangerous those rides are" ...If you are an engineer, or even have any knowledge of it, as you claim you'd know just how truly safe they are! So annoying One of my favorites was when Kingda Ka was opening. "That ride kills people" "It's not open yet" "Well it does. I heard that it (insert crazy story)" "That was a test dummy, they are made of plastic, that is why the head flew off one of them" "Oh yeah so see it's extremely dangerous" "You went on TTD during our band trip, KK is the same but slightly taller and faster" "Yeah but at those heights and speeds those slight differences are huge!" "That makes no sense, you are taking physics arent you??" "Yes, so trust me I know what Im saying here" This convo actually happened

Comeagain?
^ Can't ride operators control the speed and stuff on some flat rides? On some rides. Not many though. The industry as a whole is moving towards more and more automation for a variety of reasons. And most of those that you can control (in the U.S.) they're still ran the same every cycle. Standard Operating Procedures and all that fun stuff.

KingRCT3
Flat-rides on european funfairs are pretty much always put in manual mode. Heck, once I saw an Afterburner running, and the only person in the cabin was a 11yo. He was driving it.

VF15
According to these Facebook comments, Fury 325 getting stopped on the lift hill automatically makes it unsafe. -3 strikes you're out. Time to shut Carowinds down for maintenance and inspection. -at least they weren't stuck upside down. -I think Carowinds had better recheck all their rides...this is happening too often...and summer hasn't come yet when the droves of people visit the park, -Carowinds safety has went down after the state stopped doing inspections. Its like they don't care now. -Mine was another one. The harness come open when going around on the flip of the coaster. -Another disaster waiting to happen....sad -It sounds like Carowinds installed this ride, along with other rides, that were not accurately assessed for its safety. -Here is the thing everyone saying it was a sensor no big deal and every ride won't always be on point. Here is the issue its brand new it should not have break downs or issues in its first month the of operation no matter how minor -It's why I never go on coasters. -Just call it death ride 2015.
