KingRCT3
^I recall hearing that a test dummy got its limbs ripped off while on The Swarm. I'm still believing this was a marketing move. I mean, the clearence tests are made before the dummy sessions, aren't they?

This is probably true. You know those British Merlin parks and their crazy amounts of marketing. (achooTh13teenSmiler)

VF15
Found this news article saying that Carowinds' new slingshot may cause riders to lose consciousness. I think it's a pointless article because can't pretty much any ride render you unconscious given certain circumstances?
Midgetman82
I saw some of those same people on RCDB's Facebook commenting on another post, and I couldn't believe it myself! On a construction update of Fury 325.

It's Facebook. That will definitely go wrong. I will give the Patriot person some credit. They're both B&Ms that opened in 2006.

Zombielvr2u
Gosh... people say the silliest things. For example: Me: The Loch Ness Monster's cars mount in between the two rails, as appose to outside of them. Person: Last time I rode it, the cars mounted under the track. (They were maybe thinking of the Big Bad Wolf???)
GwaziBSRider1
I don't know why GhostRider is on that list for rib injuries, but the Crystal Beach Cyclone isn't, when it had MANY more injuries that would have been very severe. Kingda Ka's placement on that list is truly from stupidity. I wonder when the list was made since it mentioned Ka was closed.
cfc
^Possibly because more people have ridden Ghostrider, so more injuries have been reported for that particular ride? Personally, I have no problem with believing this claim.
boldikus
Had on a coaster POV (a hyper, I forget which) the other day and the missus, who generally favors wood over steel coasters, says "it freaks me out that you can't see the... legs... while you are riding. It looks like there is nothing underneath the track holding it up." Totally confused, I eventually figured out she meant supports. LMAO. We had a good laugh about it. VF15
Recently in a physics class, when someone mentioned roller coasters in relation to energy, they insisted that they have an engine that gets them through the course. I know this is a common GP comment, but since it's called a roller coaster, you'd think it would be common sense that they're not powered.
Password121
My physics teacher used to work at Kings Island back in the day (early-mid 80's), he said he worked on the Beast maintenance. He told the class each morning a coworker would walk the track and hammer in any loose nails, etc. *class* "That's why I don't go on roller coasters. How is that safe at all?!?" dcxs
At Liseberg last summer my friend thought their S&S Space Shot (free fall) was 100 years old, the reason being it had a 100-year anniversary flag on it
milst1
We were in line for Mindbender at Galaxyland this past weekend (amazing coaster, btw) and some guy in the line was going on about some roller coaster that his brother had ridden that you had to sign a release for. I've never heard of such a thing for a roller coaster in recent history, except maybe as a publicity stunt for Th13teen when it opened. My wife, the former lawyer, says that such releases are rare (and pointless) because the rider legally assumes risk when he/she voluntarily and knowingly gets on the ride. I think we've signed 1 or 2 releases ever, for some crazy zip line or parasailing or SkyJump in Vegas. In the past I would have asked the guy what coaster or park he was talking about, but I'm just so tired of these shmucks at this point. Not the weirdest thing I've heard the GP say, but the most recent weird thing.

VF15
Recently saw this video from Buzzfeed called Terrifying Facts About Theme Parks, and the comments are reaching the height of stupidity... -I went on this wooden roller coaster one day with my brother. When we were on it, it was making weird sounds.. I was scared! Right when we got off the ride and other people got on, there was a loud bang. It was louder then lighting. My brother and I saw flames and the coaster car falling off the hill. Most people were killed instantly others died a week later. My family and I never go to theme parks anymore -My mom told me the story about how she saw a kid get his face split open by barbed gates by the swing ride. To this day they removed them but it still freaks me out. -Everytime my mom went to six flags someone died and she went to six flags 5 times. SUPER SCARY -my dad works at a theme park where he saw a woman go on a ride 7 times and she kept looking out and fell, her head was nearly detached from her body...she died -one of my friends when i was at vally fair in MN he said the wild thing a couple years back like fell of the tracks at the very top of the ride i was afraid of heights after that o_o

GwaziBSRider1
Not the weirdest out there, but here's a fun one from an article posted about the new woodie in Ireland. LINK And they’re closing down all the wooden roller coasters here in the U,S. Just yesterday Busch Gardens in Florida announced the closure of the largest wooden roller coaster on the planet Go figure!
