Was scanning some pictures earlier and I was going through and cropping/cleaning up the edges. When flipping through some pictures of some random family activity on CGA's bumper cars (sans the center divide and cars going in any direction desired!), my coworker walks by and tells me about his good times riding them. He then got to telling me how his friends cornered him (about 7 of them) and he couldn't go anywhere...so he then hopped out of his car, slipping on the slick floor he went over to start beating on his friends. I asked him if they had to e-stop the ride and he then told me that they all got kicked off.

Yea, you probably shouldn't do that unless you want to get a free 'escort out of the park' admission, risk electrocution if you 'complete a circuit' and possibly get slammed by another bumper car...I don't think a bumper car slamming into you on foot would be such a fun ride. There was so much of me that wanted to say 'good' (when he mentioned that he got kicked off) but decided to be nice and think of this thread instead.

Another Yahoo gem (question details added for context):

My friend has been wanting to ride roller coasters at Cedar Point (Ohio) since the beginning of the school year. We're going tomorrow and I told her I promise to ride all the big ones. Thing is I've never been on one. Just a medium one that goes down hills super fast. (Jackrabbit at Kennywood). I want to ride the others but I've never been upside down on a roller coaster let alone a GIANT coaster. What should I do?!
Defiantly freak out. There's a 1/10 chance you'll die.

I was standing in line for Millenium Force today. I heard a girl tell her mother, "look mom I told you it's a lapbar that means it isn't extreme!"

Because a 300 foot tall 93 mph roller coaster is not extreme but Iron Dragon is because it is over the shoulder restraints.

On a side note Millie was running amazing, I had really good air on all hills today.

That reminds me of when I was in line for Expedition Everest. I heard someone say, "Not another kiddie coaster! The extreme coasters have the harnesses."

1. While on Skull Mountains brake run, the lady behind me asked the adult next to her, "Is this the part where it goes backwards and upside down? Or did we already do that?"

2. In Kingda Ka's line....

Person behind me: I can't believe Top Thrill Dragster only has a seat belt.

Me: You do realize it has a lap bar too right?

Person: Oh...

At Hershey both Saturday and Sunday, I heard a good number of people call Skyrush "Skyrim". Perhaps it's just a Freudian slip, but I know people have called Sheikra "Shakira" before. Perhaps it's just attention span issues?

That can be explained since Skyrim is the hot game while Skyrush is the new coaster. Sheikra and Shakira's spelling are almost the same, so those two can easily be confused.

I just had someone explain that California Screamin' went over 100 MPH........

I think the worst thing that I've ever encountered was at my park orientation when I started working at Epcot, the facilitator called Spaceship Earth "the big silver ball." But I don't think that counts as a GP comment.

this is exactly like raging bull...except for the colors

On TPR's Skyrush video.

They always seem to think whatever coaster their watching on video is similar to a coaster they've been on. Despite the total lack of similarities in the video in front of them.

And that's nothing. I saw on the White Cyclone (Nagashima Spaland) video someone said "This is the exact same as Yankee Cannonball at Canobie."

I guess that's almost understandable from the GP's perspective, considering that both are wooden coasters and White Cyclone has a white and brown color scheme whilst Yankee Cannonball has white, yellow and brown. And to the vast majority of the GP I've talked to, it seems they think all wooden coasters are the same.

To a coaster enthusiast though, a comment like that is just finger nails on a chalkboard.

I've seen an overwhelming number of GP on videos of Phantom's Revenge complain about how the ride was better with the inversions and that Kennywood are stupid for removing them.

It seems that the rule "inversions=OMFGamazing" no matter how painful the inversions may be.

On TPR's Sky Screamer POV at Great Adventure:

The guy decided to be a smart ass after I told people off for complaining about the ride.

I hope you all realize that a park would never build a ride if they felt like the ride was not safe. I have complete faith that those metal chains can support several hundred pounds. Also, the park has gone through several hundred tests on this ride, and a certificate was probably granted saying that this ride is safe to ride. So, I want you all to stop complaining about how it's unsafe and ride the thing!

Yeah, a certificate means a lot...that's why Chiller derailed in 2006 after testing, inspecting and the state signed off on it.

You got to remember that the Chiller was always plagued with mechanical problems as it was the first of its kind. Also, it was the wheel assembly that Premier just modified, and the ride was removed the next season due to the mechanical problems. Unlike the Chiller, this type of ride has been placed at different parks, so any problems have been addressed and the issues should not happen on this ride.

That's all well and good...but Chiller has been bathed in more excuses. They just didn't want to devote the budget to getting it working right-they were too busy throwing money into that big green lawn ornament that still doesn't work right.New coasts go up,the old coasters rot...a SF tradition.

Weren't the wheel bogies put on backwards? Now they were modified? OK...enjoy your SF...I'm more than happy at CF parks where they actually maintain their rides.

You know you're comparing a coaster with tons of moving parts with a flat ride with not as much moving parts, right? Why are we having an argument on a coaster that isn't even operating anymore, anyway? Why are we now talking about Cedar Fair and Six Flags?

^ There is actually a comment on a Skyrush pov(the official one) that stated that the ride is boring because all it does is turn and that it would be better with "loops, twists, and corkscrews"

If you go on ANY video of ANY hyper/giga coaster you'll see plenty of those comments. It makes me cry.

I'm sorry, I post in this thread way too much but this just made me crack up. On Coasterforce's POV of the Big One at Pleasure Beach:

NO YOU DUMBASS ITS 87 MPH AND 235 FT TALL...

jeez look on their website and listen to the announcements you rem

Don't let them fool you. It peaks at 235 feet above sea level, but it's actually 213 feet tall. At least they're not claiming it to be the tallest in Europe anymore like they did until 2010 in spite of Silver Star holding that record since 2002. ;D
Well actually they are NOT lying. I know this for a VERY and i mean VERY good reason. I know that it is 87 MPH, and I also know that it is STILL the tallest AND fastest coaster in Europe. S o i'm afraid that's enough rudeness. I could tell you a lot more about the Pleasure beach than you know for a VERY GOOD reason.
We, and a lot of other people, know for a fact that it's neither the tallest or fastest coaster in Europe, no matter what your reasons are. We're not trying to be rude, but we also want people to know that the information you're posting simply isn't true.
I AM afraid that it is all true, I can guarantee you that it IS true. I have sent an E - mail to Pleasure beach saying that Coasterforce keep lying about their claims being false when they are not, and I'm afraid that they are not happy. They say they will be in contact with you about you trying to ruin their ride with lies.

Honestly can't tell if trolling, or INCREDIBLY stupid.

Good god what is he gonna do next, call his mother? I can't stand it when a person of the gp is too stubborn and thick headed to admit that they're wrong.

So, in music class today, we started talking about amusement parks. We, eventually, got on to Hersheypark. One of the girls in the class said that Fahrenheit, during the rain, slid off the track. So I was like, no it hasn't, there hasn't been any reports on it that I know of. And she was like, yeah it did. And we were about to get into a huge flame war, but class ended.
