Soaky Mountain Waterpark will be located on Gists Creek Road in Sevierville, Tennessee. The park will cost $90 million to construct and feature a 35,000 square foot wave pool capable of generating waves up to 6 feet high. There will also be a 24,000 square foot winding wave river, slides for kids, a Flow Rider for surfers, and multiple towering slides for adults. Also, developers say there will be a one-of-a-kind water coaster, a family raft ride tower, a tubing tower with five flumes, and a head-first mat racing challenge. The park is expected to open in summer 2020. Once operations are in full swing, it is expected to stay open from mid-May through August with a few days added in September. Wilderness at the Smokies guests are expected to get preferred admission pricing. Edited December 7, 2019 by ernierocker

palmerleeberry
"Soaky Mountain Rain keeps on falling/ The park keeps on calling . . . my name!" With apologizes to Ronnie Milsap, I couldn't stop thinking about that song when I heard the name of the newest Waterpark that will be hitting Pigeon Forge/Sevierville Area in 2020. I'm also planning to be going there in mid-August of 2020, so I might make this my fifth reason to go there ( Dollywood, Alpine Coasters, Hillbilly Golf, and Goats on the Roof were my other four reasons ). While I'm sure this waterpark will have a wave pool, lazy rivers, a water playground, and water slides, I wonder if this park might also have a water coaster. Or maybe something that's GROUND BREAKING? Just wait and see . . . and play "Smokey Mountain Rain" by Ronnie Milsap to keep oneself in the mood. [EXTRA - I JUST FOUND OUT THIS PARK WILL HAVE A one-of-A-kind WATER COASTER!]
tndank
Land has been cleared. It's directly across the street from their other waterpark / hotel / conference center, Wilderness in the Smokies. Should be a great spot for families. I imagine they will have more hotel rooms in that spot soon, too.
DoinItForTheFame
That name is the best thing ever. I didn't even read the name correctly at first. I just read it as Smoky instead of Soaky! - Now that I know what it really is... I love it!
cloudeleven
I wish they would make water coasters that can compete with Mammoth & Wildebeest at Holiday World in Indiana. Those 2 water coasters were built over 7 years ago and are still FAR AND AWAY the best water coasters out there. The best things about those water coasters is the airtime and long length of ride. The "wave river" about this new park interests me...I hope it's more like the "rapids" river rides at Schlitterbahn in New Braunfels, TX and not just a typical lazy river. I would be willing to bet money the River will be just like the one at Schlitterbahn. If you look at the park map you can see where the wave generating machine will be, just like it is at Schlitterbahn.
dstephe9
I think this will get a lot of the Knoxville water park traffic if done correctly and prices right. My wife and I are already talking about dropping our Splash Country season passes for this. We can get here in about 30 mins. Because this one is supposed to be opened to the public and full size unlike the other parks at this resort. Last I heard, even resort guest had to pay for this park, although would get a discounted rate. Sent from my GM1915 using Tapatalk
TEDodd
Not even a link to the park's website? https://soakymountainwaterpark.com/ or social media? Because this one is supposed to be opened to the public and full size unlike the other parks at this resort. Wilderness is open to the public (~$45/day). You don't have to be staying at the resort. Resort guests get the old water parks free, but have to pay for the Adventure park. The article says resort guests "are expected to get preferred admission pricing." TEDodd
Promo video on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/SoakyMountain/videos/2444874745799794/ Barely a glimpse of the coaster. But enough to find it on the map (lower left by parking lot). Also some footage of the river (from other parks they've done?)

ernierocker
Construction is definitely moving along on this. Several footers and foundations are in place and visible from the parkway. Once actual slides start being constructed, I will do a photo update.

dstephe9
I'm looking forward to this. Actually haven't even renewed Dollywood passes yet due to this! I'm hoping some pricing might pop up soon on season tickets here and if so I won't renew my superpass and will only get the standard gold at Dollywood. We love water parks but Dollywood is getting super expensive and this one is actually 15 mins closer, and a lot closer if traffic is bad. coneyislandchris
Surprised to see that, from looking at the website, all the slides they've got over there supposedly will have a 42" height requirement. Even the drop slides. My daughter is SO excited about this, you have no idea. She's been feeling left out because her taller brother gets to do all of them and she can only watch. She's already demanding we make a stop there this summer.
