Six Flags teased that 2004 was going to bring a new ride type never seen before at any other park. Six Flags introduced their 2004 addition as Superman: Ultimate Flight, which is an S&S Screamin Swing, an all new flat ride type. Superman was a hit with thrillseekers throughout the 2004 and 2005 season. In 2005, once again, Six Flags did not add anything to the park, but among park fans, rumors were stirring up. SixFlagsAstroworld Posted February 7, 2020 Author Share Posted February 7, 2020 2005 Fans of Six Flags Cypress Adventures were excitingly waiting for Six Flags to announce what was to come in 2006, with the rumor of a B&M Hyper. Around the end of summer, Six Flags made an announcement, but it was an announcement that no one was expecting and caught everyone off guard. On September 12th, Six Flags announced that at the end of the 2005 season, they were going to close and demolish two of their properties: Six Flags AstroWorld and Six Flags Cypress Adventures. The last day for Six Flags Cypress Adventures is Sunday, November 6th, 2005. Multiple reasons were given for the closure and demolition of the park, such as attendance being at an all time low for the past 3 years, and the park was in a bad location. Guests have to travel around the mountains to get from the city of Chattanooga to Six Flags. Fans of Six Flags Cypress Adventures were absolutely devastated at the news. Some were denying that the park would close, some started to go to the park as much as possible to document every detail of the park with videos and pictures, and some started protesting the closure and demolition around the parking lot entrance. I've been going to this park since it opened and its very sad to see such a good park go. This is a trip report from the last day ever for Six Flags Cypress Adventures. On my way into the parking lot, there were a lot of people protesting the park's closure. Hi Six Flags Cypress Adventures! Its impossible to not take this picture. Its such a good shot Heading towards Looney Tunes Town Bugs Bunny Fort Fun and Daffy Duck Bucket Blasters First ride of today, Road Runner Express! You gotta start somewhere Last picture of Looney Tunes Town The Last Stand through the trees The Castle area Excalibur's line is extremely long so I think I'll try to catch it last. Runaway Mountain's queue is full of people wanting to ride it one last time. I wish that B&M Hyper rumor was real and was replacing this ride instead of tearing the park down... Pirate Ship with Tidal Wave photobombing I spy my next ride The Last Stand just reopened from a breakdown so I took advantage of the short line. Good thing I did because the queue was full just 30 minutes later. Waiting in line for Tidal Wave now... Up next: Viper Its a standard vekoma boomerang coaster, so this won't be missed as much as the other coasters. Gotham City with Batman the Ride in the background Buzzsaw Cypress Plunge. I actually decided to skip this in favor of Twister. I will miss this view Acrophobia carrying riders up Acrophobia dropping riders Superman isn't even that old. Its a really fun ride Superman is also massive up close Cypress Plunge station and entrance Runaway Express is the original opening day coaster for Cypress Adventures way before Six Flags brought the park. The park's trokia: Rodeo I really like the moon in the background of Gunslinger The sunset is beautiful tonight Time to try to catch my last ride ever: Excalibur Everyone else has the same idea. I actually was extremely lucky to get in line just before the queue closed. I'm actually one of the very last people to ride Excalibur! Second to last train of riders on Excalibur Off they go! Hope they enjoyed their last ride ever on Excalibur! Last ride ever on Excalibur! I had a lot of fun on Excalibur. I actually wished the ride would never end. But it did sadly. At this point, Six Flags Cypress Adventures is now closed. For good. I wish I could.... Goodbye Six Flags Cypress Adventures! Thanks for 27 years of memories and fun! Everyone was invited to enter Six Flags Cypress Adventures one last time for the auction they are hosting to sell off park elements. Never thought I would go through this entrance again NOOOOOOO!!!! NOT THE LAST STAND!!!! Taz Twisters is already gone. Its space is being used for the auction. I really want this one. Its the original park entrance sign! More signs The real main attraction of the auction is one of the original Excalibur trains. One was already donated to the National Roller Coaster Museum. They held separate auctions for each car in this train. I heard that the front car sold to a very dedicated fan for over $10,500!! Again, more signs There was a wall blocking off areas that they didn't want people accessing during the auction WARNING! THE FOLLOWING PHOTOS ARE PARK DEMOLITION PHOTOS! CONTINUE AT YOUR OWN RISK! I got special permission to tour the demolition of the park. As you can see, Joe's Tavern is already gone. Runaway Mountain's track is already removed. Studio Splash Effect is getting scrapped. Looping Starship still standing. I was actually told that a new park somewhere in asia purchased quite a handful of rides from this park. I wasn't told which ones though... Caribbean Port's structures being demolished. Breakdance is gone and Tidal Wave is missing its spike. The Last Stand being taken down Buzzsaw is gone already too. Viper is still standing... I was hoping this ride was scrapped. Oh well... Joker's Spinsanity was apparently scrapped. Batman The Ride is being taken apart. Pretty clear its being relocated. Cypress Plunge missing its final drop Rodeo is still here Same with Gunslinger Runaway Express is being scrapped. I was actually allowed to walk around the track (what was standing still) Pretty cool that I was allowed to climb the lift! View from the top Final drop missing... Helix The track after the 2nd lift is missing. That's actually all that I saw for this report. After the Runaway Express tour, I was told my tour time is up and I left the park for the last time. It hasn't been touched since demolition started up until this part. The date that Six Flags Cypress Adventures officially died is April 9th, 2006. A few months later, this plan from 2005 was leaked out. It shows Studio Splash Effect removed and replaced with a hyper like rumored: It turns out Six Flags actually was planning to build a hyper, but following the decision to close the park, Six Flags sent the hyper to La Ronde instead since it was already being manufactured. This caused an outrage among fans of Six Flags Cypress Adventures. The fate of all the rides at Six Flags Cypress Adventures are as listed: Gunslinger: Relocated to new Asia park Rodeo: Relocated to new Asia park Runaway Express: Scrapped Cypress Plunge: Scrapped, logs sent to various Six Flags parks Twister: Relocated to Six Flags Marine World, never rebuilt, eventually scrapped Acrophobia: Relocated to new Asia park Superman Ultimate Flight: Relocated to new Asia park Looney Tunes town rides: Some relocated to some Six Flags parks and independent parks Road Runner Express: Relocated to new Asia park Thunder Racers: Scrapped, Karts sent to Six Flags St Louis Batman the Ride: Relocated to new Asia park Joker's Spinsanity: Scrapped Viper: Relocated to new Asia park Buzzsaw: Relocated to Six Flags Great Adventure for spare parts Tidal Wave: Relocated to independent park, still in storage The Last Stand: Scrapped. The land the park used to sit on has been converted into a local park, and there are actually quite a handful of things from Six Flags that are still standing on the property. Here is the visit to Six Flags Cypress Adventures 15 years later. The original park entrance is still standing. Six Flags Cypress Adventures is now "Cypress Park" This entrance area remained untouched during demolition. Its now hard to believe that this view used to have several roller coasters and rides Some of the queues were redone into picnic canopies. This used to be Gunslinger's queue Rodeo's former queue is also still standing The only structure that remained unchanged after demolition is this eating area, which is still operational. Cypress Plunge's station was repurposed into bathrooms This view used to have a log flume drop in it. Also its interesting that the water wheel is still standing by the station building Bugs Bunny Fort Fun playground from the Looney Tunes town is still here. It was relocated to the former Acrophobia spot. Its now time to leave this park behind us once and for all. Six Flags Cypress Adventures held many memories for locals of Chattanooga, and it was a sad day when it closed for good. SixFlagsAstroworld Posted July 19, 2020 Author Share Posted July 19, 2020 Summer 2021 16 years after the closure of Six Flags Cypress Adventure, Former employees of the park came together and pitched an idea to the current owner of the property: A fair themed to the defunct park. In May of 2021, Cypress Park was temporarily rebranded back into Cypress Adventure and rented carnival rides placed along the only stretch of path that Six Flags never demolished. In addition, people who brought items from the auction after the park closed put their items on display. The fair was a success, bringing in thousands of people wishing to visit Six Flags Cypress Adventures again. Lets view a trip report of someone who visited Cypress Adventure since it first opened... They put up the original Cypress Adventure sign from when the park first opened. This view alone is filling me with nostalgia! I still think its weird to look at this view without a drop tower at the other end. The only remaining structure of Cypress Adventure. It still sells the same stuff too! Everyone is heading this direction! I wonder whats this way... Cypress Plunge log flume used to be here. I spy rides! I find it interesting that Six Flags never tore out this stretch of path when they were demolishing the park. Other side view of the fair. Each carnival ride are named after the rides that used to be at Cypress Adventures! The rides even have the original ride signs! Thats not rodeo! Did no one fact check what type of ride Rodeo was? Oh god. There's a pinfari. I wonder what ride this is named after. Ah, Named after Twister. Tidal Wave, but more boring Extra signs and props from the park were put on display here.
