^I actually wondered if you'd spot that since I've seen you sing Raptor's praises on here yourself. As for why it's so far ahead of the other two, trust me, there is no coaster on earth that I want to be in my top 10-20 more than Montu. On paper it should absolutely be there and every time I go to BGT, I think "maybe this will be the time..." but it never quite gets there for me. The batwing is hands down insane, but the drop and first three inversions don't pull as hard as they do on Raptor or Afterburn, and the MCBR always takes off too much speed for me to fully enjoy the second half.

I could say much of that for Alpengeist too, though I thought the vertical loop and immelman were a bit better than Montu's.

It's been a few years since I rode Alpengeist, but I don't remember that one having a particularly forceful vertical loop. I've found the smaller B&M inverts have much stronger forces on the loops. That's why I was stunned how forceful Montu's was considering it's one of the larger inverts as well.

^^ Verbolten is the worst coaster you've ever ridden? What?

I said the same thing. Honestly, when I see shit like this is makes me question if that is a ballot that should be thrown out or not.

Also, I just want to point out that the same guy who claims that Verbolten is god-awful is also questioning why we aren't including Arrow mice. Yeah, something doesn't add up...

Fine, I admit dead last is a bit of an overstatement of my feelings for Verbolten, but I still think it's BGW's weakest coaster, and Tempesto is already pretty far down my list. It's godawful for $50 million, and I rank it only barely above the mice. It seems I rank gimmick coasters as a whole pretty poorly.

This puts Mind Eraser (SFA) into my bottom five. I've actually had an enjoyable ride once or twice on Mind Eraser, which is more than I can say about Hurler and Green Lantern SFMM.

I've corrected my ballot.

I need more RMC's though. Hope to get on two more this year. I'm lucky to be where I'm at location-wise in terms of quality rides and parks, but I need to get to the West Coast, Midwest and Texas!

Note to self: I need to play the Powerball.

No, you just need to get a real job that actually gives you a cash bonus at Christmas instead of a f*cking coffee maker.

I only included around 50 of my credits because the others, while I have ridden them, are so long ago I don't think I can judge them properly. I also just don't ride coasters I know I won't like, like Rougarou which I skipped for a couple years then rode last year. Learned my lesson. So honestly 1-40 on my list are rides I would definitely ride again and aren't bad by any means. My bottom 10 are rides you probably won't get me on again though.

Top10

Skyrush (undisputed #1)

Maverick

Storm Runner

Superman:The Ride

Phoenix

Millennium Force

Top Thrill Dragster

El Toro

Magnum-XL 200

Great Bear

Bottom 10

Pandemonium SFNE

Twister Knoebels (runs for cover)

Cedar Creek Mine Ride

Corkscrew CP

Canobie Corkscrew

Wildcat HP

Flashback SFNE

Goliath SFNE

Mind Eraser SFNE

Rougarou

Thanks to whoever is doing all the work on this behind the scenes. I'm definitely a list kind of guy and can;t wait to see the results of your work.

An Update:

You can now rank using the previous drag and drop, or you can use a new "spreadsheet" view, that's not javascript based, that allows you to sort in a few different ways, and then save everything at once.

Alse:

  • Filtering and custom sorting on the massive list of coasters.
  • Automatically scrolls up when dragging.
  • Doesn't renumber to #1 when dragging a second time.
  • Can now view and share other users entire rankings.

Great work! One remark: "Walrus Splash" is not located at "Ocean Park / Hong Kong" but "Chimelong Ocean Kingdom / Xiangzhou, Zhuhai, China"

Fixed.

All those things are working for me, thanks! A bug has appeared, though, after scrolling up while dragging a coaster, once I drop it into place, it sometimes keeps scrolling up indefinitely. Even if I scroll down, it keeps automatically scrolling up. Even if it gets to the top, when I scroll down again, it resumes scrolling up. The only way to fix it is to refresh the page.

Also, Spongebob at Nick Universe is listed as an RMC; should be Gerstlauer.

One interesting thing I found from this venture is how little junk I've been on. My actual count is 232, and about 30 of those are defunct coasters. With the 171 on this list, that means I've only been on about 30 junk coasters. I'm sure most of those are children's coasters I rode either as a child or with my children, as I nearly always skip them otherwise (except you, Kozmo's Curves, you're all right).

nice updates much more friendly for those of us with fewer coasters under our belts . much easier with the sorting by park, rather than just alphabetical.

well done and user friendly enough for the general public

disseminate this widely and you should get a pretty accurate listing/ranking of the most popular coasters on this planet.

My top ten, though I admit I'm a bit inexperienced -

Phoenix PTC at Knoebels.

El Toro Intamin at SFGAdv.

Skyrush Intamin at Hersheypark.

Phantom's Revenge Morgan at KW.

Ravine Flyer II GG at Waldameer.

White Lightning GCI at FunSpot.

Alpengeist B&M at BGW.

Hollywood Rip, Ride, Rockit Maurer at USF.

Tennessee Tornado Arrow at Dollywood.

Hoping to add Twisted Colossus to that list before I leave the LA area.

I've nearly rode 500 coasters. El Toro, SkyRush and Phoenix are in my top 5, so you've got great taste! May I suggest Canada's version of Phoenix called Coaster at Playland in Vancouver. I have a feeling you will be thrilled, as I like it better.

Okay, so... In my case I've ridden Chang at SFKK, and never been to GADV, would the proper step be to mark it ridden as Green Lantern on the GADV listing, or not mark it at all?

Don't mark it. Green Lantern is different to Chang - different setting, different theme, extra train from Riddler's Revenge, etc.

I would mark it as ridden. I had the same dilemma with Flashback/Boomerang (SFOT/SFSTL).

Why would you mark a coaster that you haven't actually ridden? Just because it's in a different location? That doesn't make a lot of sense to me. There are plenty of things that can happen or change when a ride moves from one location to another. Case in point: Taz's Texas Tornado > Zonga or Deja Vu > Goliath.

Location, settings, operations, climate, alterations in hardware... all of those things can lead to a very different ride experience. I get that you want to mark it as ridden if you've technically "ridden it" in one place, but if you haven't ridden it in it's current location, in it's current configuration, then I don't think it should be marked on the ballot.

Just my thoughts on this...
