Double0Kevin
Wow, nice to see the park didn't waste any time pulling down Pandemonium. Makes sense that they left it open through Holiday in the Park since it doesn't seem to have caused any issues with the time frame. I doubt Superman will take long to put up anyways. Although, in SoCalCoasters' defense, I've heard the thing before about the Texas heat damaging the ride pretty bad, but I thought that it was because it warped the steel a bit, causing more rattling. The issue with the heat was limited to the drive tires on the lift. They had a nasty habit of melting. Also the PSI in the lift tires were something like 120PSI so when it warmed up the pressure against the tires that were either melting or just getting softer tended to make them go boom. It was kind of humorous when one blew. There were a few times when a lift tire blew and guests in line would scream and run cause it sounded like a bomb going off. Texas is hot, but not hot enough to warp steel. The track was fine.
Angry_Gumball
I was one of the few in my family/group that actually enjoyed it. My neighbor down the street however says that if he wanted to get his head banged around he'd rather have that happening when being in a fight. Back when it opened I remember the complaints on various message boards about roughness and expected a rough ride. When I did finally get to the park and rode it, I got off asking myself "where was it supposed to be rough?" maybe I have a high tolerance for roughness. "Yeah I totally saw it happen! The coaster blew up and I think someone died!" Did anyone score a Zonga t-shirt from when it was at the park? I would be sooo happy if I came across one in the future at a thrift store or yard sale!

RAWKIN_coaster38
^First rain/snow for months happened in NorCal the other day. So... it pretty much felt like a flood. I don't see the station in this photo, but aren't they reusing it again for S:UF? I assume they probably just moved it and are going to put it back once the area is clear and building begins. That's funny Jer, that was actually my first reaction too. Right before "Where exactly is this?" ...Did anyone score a Zonga t-shirt from when it was at the park? I would be sooo happy if I came across one in the future at a thrift store or yard sale! Good luck with that. I'm sure it helps to live closer to parks with merch, but the most relevant I've found are a Tower of Terror shirt and a DCA sweatshirt, neither of which were worth buying (might as well go there and buy new). Well, there's is demolished wood sitting on the S:UF site, so maybe the Zonga station was demolished? Also, why is the concrete slab flooded when it is a few feet above the ground? Unless the concrete slab was also demolished. Also, Pandemonium's enterance may be used for S:UF.

The concrete slab isn't level I'm not quite sure why other than it was poured wrong but it flooded like this right after it was poured while they were building Zonga

It seems like the wood is to far over to be Zonga's station, and besides, why take it out when if you can use it as a queue?

I would be sooo happy if I came across one in the future at a thrift store or yard sale! Sorry to switch gears and go back to Zonga, but at the time I had been at SFDK during Zonga's debut season, I actually did not see any Zonga shirts, as much as I checked the shops for them. I instead ended up grabbing a V2 shirt. At my local thrift store, I sometimes see some theme park goods in there, primarily being souvenir cups...one of them being an Invertigo hourglass shaped cup. No t-shirts from any parks though.

stricklandCC
Anyone in the area going to WCB? I would really like to go this year but am without transportation. If anyone would like an extra person in their car, I am more than willing to pitch in on gas and/or hotel room! Any takers? PM me.

Superman's station is Pandemonium's station. They are reusing the steel frame but putting it in a new location with a new skin on it. The wood you see is likely the roof and siding of the station, which will be replaced. Did anyone score a Zonga t-shirt from when it was at the park? I would be sooo happy if I came across one in the future at a thrift store or yard sale! After V2 originally debuted, the park decided it didn't make enough on Ride branded merchandise and haven't had any since. The only exception they had was "Big Spin" shirts when Tony Hawk first opened, but they were lame and didn't say Tony Hawk on them because he had his own clothing line so it wasn't allowed. I've been curious if I'd been overlooking any good coaster merch at SFDK, so that's interesting. There was a time when this would've frustrated me, but I'm mostly "over" coaster shirts. Besides, when I am interested, I am very particular, so even if a park "tries" with a variety of designs, they still might not make anything I want. Tmcdllr
Posted on page 88 of this thread is this image... Which shows the station Superman is to use is actually the old Zonga station.
Double0Kevin
^Actually, that clearly shows a separate station and tunnel behind the old Zonga station. Like I've said numerous times, The Pandemonium station will moved and re-purposed as Superman's station, where as Zonga's station will be used for the queue line just like Pandemonium did. Yeah I prefer simple designs and Parks tend to go over the top with big graphics and bright colors that you would expect to see on an ACEr or on someone in the backwoods of Virginia with it's sleeves cut off. Double0Kevin
Rather than argue back and forth we can just wait for the ride's completion to see how it turns out. But in the meantime I'll re-post this video, also from page 88, that clearly shows the Zonga structure apart from the Superman station.
Rollercoaster Rider
What is with Six Flags taking so long to build these attractions. This, X-Flight, Etc. Hope this is open before Memorial Day Weekend.
Angry_Gumball
To me, the "Zonga Roof" as I like to call it looks like what would be used for shade for the queue leading up to a separate, enclosed station building. I can't wait to see this thing's construction take place, and how the space will be used around it.

I'm sure it helps to live closer to parks with merch, but the most relevant I've found are a Tower of Terror shirt and a DCA sweatshirt, neither of which were worth buying (might as well go there and buy new). I've actually been really surprised with luck. A few years back, I somehow came across a souvenir plate from Marine World Africa USA (oldddd plate) in really good condition. From a local yard sale. Recently, I found a full-color, hard-cover coaster book at the thrift store in good condition, and this is mountain red-neckville 5 hours away from the park. Both times I was beyond shocked... so you never know. Sorry to switch gears and go back to Zonga, but at the time I had been at SFDK during Zonga's debut season, I actually did not see any Zonga shirts, as much as I checked the shops for them. I instead ended up grabbing a V2 shirt. I think you're right, I ended up with a V2 shirt and I think it happened the same way for me. I guess they probably didn't make any Zonga merch or I probably would have gotten it back then. Not 100% true, I've seen Medusa shirts (the ones with the medusa head on the front) in the shops almost every year, but they're always kinda tucked in with the superhero merch and always the same one. However, last year they had an entire new line of coaster/park shirts in one of the shops. Medusa and V2 I remember, I think even Kong and Roar. I ended up with a generic SFDK one with phrases all around it like "thrill-seeker", "coaster expert", "need for speed", etc. I thought it was funny. I like to collect shirts, if they still have the Medusa one next year, I'm going to get it.
Angry_Gumball
I still have my Medusa Head shirt branded as Six Flags Marine World, still in pretty good shape shockingly...a little faded but not too bad, no holes either (those tiny holes drive me crazy and bums me when my favorite shirt begins sprouting those mysterious tiny holes). On my recent trip to SFDK, they actually had some ride-branded shirts, one being V2, the other being Medusa. I picked both of them up. Funny thing is that the Medusa shirt doesn't really have a photo of Medusa, but a No Limits-created B&M style coaster. I was wondering why the coaster was at first pixelated but upon closer inspection, I recognized the brake runs and the way the supports were joined onto the track. Funny how NL gets around! The V2 shirt shows the old V2, in it's current color scheme...ok, maybe it's SFGAm's V2 since it has the reinforced spike.
