CrazedZooChimp
Hi TPR, quick question, I am a new Gold pass holder at Discovery Kingdom, and remember reading that gold pass holders get early entry and ERT, but I can't find on the site what time the ERT starts. Does anyone know? I may actually be able to get to the park early enough to take advantage tomorrow. Thanks!

I never seen them do ERT for gold passes yet. the best so far is getting into the main entrance of the park and being able to shop at the 4-5 stores, use the restroom, etc before the "rope drop" where you're granted access to the real areas and rides. I feel SF:DK's main website isn't that good at giving out information of upcoming 3rd party events. I really wish they would put up a big, red warning sign on their site the week before the cheer competitions they host. Those days I am pretty mad that they don't have *ANY* single rider lines for anything.

The Early Entry is not to the park, it's 10 min early entry to Oasis Plaza, home to Medusa, Kong, Dare Devil Chaos Notacoaster, and Sky Screamer. They usually don't open before the park though, so the only real advantage is getting in line for Medusa's first train. They are planning some events for the final rides of Roar, and I would figure there will be some advantages for gold pass holders, but the details haven't been announced yet. Also a good bet that when the new ride opens there will be a gold pass exclusive soft opening, that's pretty much Six Flags SOP on new rides. If you visit the "Events" portion of the website, you'll find all of the possible crowd generators listed by date. For example, I just went there and saw that the JAMZ cheer competition (a day that, like you, I avoid like the plague) is scheduled for October 11 and 18. Just click on "Events" at the top of the homepage, then you can view upcoming events either by "Featured" or by "Special Group and Educational Events". XSupremacy
Hey Guys, I'm going to the park for the first time tomorrow, so I was wondering what to do and what times to do it. Also, how bad do the lines get on the coasters.

Also, how bad do the lines get on the coasters. Saturdays are pretty busy. If Superman is a priority, head for that right at park opening. You can usually get 2 or 3 laps before the line even starts to develop. If Medusa is a priority and you have a gold pass, you can get into Oasis Plaza a few minutes earlier than the GP, though they don't open the coaster until park open, you can get in line early and get on the first train. Otherwise you can come back to Medusa last as most people go here first and the line dies in the afternoon. If V2 is a priority, don't "wait until later", ride it when you get a chance. It's crazy sensitive and goes down frequently. I doubt you'll wait more than an hour at peak time for Superman or Medusa unless there's a special event going on. scooterdoug
^^Solid advice. Though, in my experience, V2 isn't THAT temperamental. It is somewhat prone to breakdowns, but it's no X2. Kong...I avoid it.
singemfrc
I personally love Kong. If you're sensitive to rough coasters, especially "head banging" coasters, then you probably will not enjoy Kong. If you, like me, are more the type that will ride almost anything and isn't usually bothered by roughness or headbanging, then Kong is a fun layout. My personal strategy for a painless ride on Kong is to turn my head in the direction of an upcoming turn before the train reaches it. This way, only the back of my head is in contact with the OTSRs and I never get headbanging. Additionally, when I was there a couple weeks ago I had the least rough ride I've ever had on Kong so I took note of the seat - yellow train seat #14. I usually ride either front or back row, but that time I was in a hurry and just went for the nearest open row and was surprised how un-rough (I cant say smooth) the ride was. If you're thinking "I shouldnt have to do that", then don't..just move on. My philosophy is anything I personally can do to make an otherwise rough ride more enjoyable I'm all for. Works for me on almost every coaster with headbanging..doesnt help at all for Revolution at SFMM though.

singemfrc
thanks. How are the inversions on Kong I mean, again consider the source, I'm a crazy fan of Kong, but in my opinion they're just right. Others certainly have varying opinions I would love it if some day there were a Kong marathon competition..I'd win for sure.

I've never ridden an SLC, but people seem to either love them or want to burn them to the ground. There's no in-between!
Quetzal
Kong is surprisingly a rather decent coaster. While it's far from being one of the best attractions in the park, if you ride it defensively, you should be fine.
VegasBaby
I rode Kong for the first time a few weeks ago and thought it was a pretty fun ride. The first drop seemed really fast and the inversions were pretty forceful. I just kept the back of my head plastered to the headrest and I had little to no headbanging. It's definitely worth at least one ride to check it out for yourself. SLC's get a bad rap around here but I've always found them to be fun coasters. joelc
First time visiting next Sunday, Aug 9. Does the park ever put out show schedules in advance (or anywhere online, for that matter?) I am trying to get a bit of a game plan as to how to balance the shows (for the kids) and the rides (for my older son and myself).
XSupremacy
Trip Report Time!! It was my first time at the park, so I got there at opening time. I rode Roar first since it had no wait. I was going to ride again, but the line just kept getting longer. Roar is a good GCI, but definitly Next, I went over to Superman Ultimate Flight. The line was short, but somebody got their nosebleed on a lapbar, and they had to call in somebody to clean it up. Once I got on the ride, it was great. The forces were more intense than I thought they would be in the non inverting loop. I decided to see the Dolphin Show after that, and it was fine. I sat in the splash zone to get wet, but didn't even feel a drop of water. Next, it was time for boomerang. The line was okay, not too long but not short. The ride was okay, nothing to rave about. Medusa was next, and it was great. The way the inversions go into each other is fantastic. Now I will get to the bad part of my day. Kong was only running one train, so the wait was far over an hour, and in the blistering sun. And the sad part was is that it sucked. It banged my head the whole way and wasn't very forceful. I was just feeling out of it after that, so I hit up Skyscreamer and Superman again (Queue also over an hour). All in all, the park was great. Medusa and Superman are better than anything at Great America, but that's all it has over it in the ride section. The animals are pretty cool though. dannyboy13
Took my last ride on Roar today. Definitely bittersweet. I've certainly always enjoyed Roar, and wish they could somehow keep it and still get an RMC. I'm beyond thrilled to be getting an RMC 30min away from me though. RIP Roar, long live Iron Roar/Roar of Metal/More Roar/Roargasm.
Fire2box
Planning to go this week and then the 16th. not sure what I'll do when Roar closes as I always go on it at least once while I'm there. Maybe i'll just ride V2 again, since I haven't done that at all on my 2015 pass. thanks. How are the inversions on Kong I mean, again consider the source, I'm a crazy fan of Kong, but in my opinion they're just right. chickenbowl
I am eagerly anticipating the announcement for Roar's upgrade and I had a thought; What if SFDK decided instead of theming Roar with the "upgraded-coaster" idea used on their 5 previous IBox projects? What if they decided to theme it to something unrelated entirely? With Roar's near proximity to Superman, SFDK could expand the DC theme from the single coaster to a whole area! How cool would it be if Roar was themed to a DC villian, Lex Luthor maybe? I think Roar would look really good with lime green track! Or maybe I'm just rambling... Anyway, we are less than a month away from the 2016 Six Flags announcement and I'm very excited for this park!

I still want the Bizarro theme for thr 150ft S&S Double shot that they're going to build behind/between Roar and SUF in my dreams. I'm not a huge comic book guy, but are there any that would fit the wood and metal together theme?
