singemfrc
I was disappointed that Voodoo was closed. The lines weren’t long, which was nice, all less than 30 minutes.Don't be. They run it as lame as possible, you usually only get 1 flip. I think the reason it's always closed is because people know it's boring and no one rides it. I only find it open on really busy days now.

I only find it open on really busy days now. It's always ran about 80% of the times I've been there on my 2015 pass. However it's a pretty terrible ride. Also you need to put your glasses in a cubby (if it has one) or in a sturdy case in your pocket or it (hydralic OTSR's) will bend your frames. even my titanium frames were easily bent. Though I also bent them back enough by hand so meh.
dannyboy13
The program they run for VooDoo does suck pretty hard. One flip at beginning and that's pretty much it. My 11yr old son still insists in riding it back to back for some reason though.

Fire2box
Well i'm finally going to the park for the first time in June this year, will be there tomorrow. Going to try get at least two rides on Roar if not more in case the rumors are true. The program they run for VooDoo does suck pretty hard. One flip at beginning and that's pretty much it. My 11yr old son still insists in riding it back to back for some reason though. It sucks because it does only flip once and everything else it's swinging like it will flip but never does. Just kinda sucks and makes it feel like they want it to be a Vakoma experience. But don't worry guys, think someones made a viable replacement. VegasBaby
Does anyone have the details of the Coke early entry for the 3rd - 5th? The SFDK twitter sent out a link, but there is nothing about it on the link.
Fire2box
Went yesterday (june 30th) as it was going to be like 105 here in the valley. Got two rides in on Roar front and back. Saw all of the animal enclousers for a moment and they didn't do that much for the wolves which sucks. Got on White water safari as soon as it opened for the day and re-rode it a second time for a 5 min wait. By the time I got off the 2nd ride of it the line was already about 10-15 mins long. Rode tsunami soaker too many times to count but it was around 6-8 rides. Checked out the new high dive show (bird theater is now 100% gone, replaced by two diving boards and a small radio mast with perches for divers) and me and my dad left likely what felt like 60% trough. I managed to find one of the animal trainers near the rear of the park and asked about the bird show. She said that they will be shown in the wildlife theater show but the birds aren't ready yet but might if not should be by august.
chickenbowl
You guys wouldn't believe what happened to me yesterday. In Silverwood, (in line for Tremors at the end of the day) I overheard a guy talking about how he built a roller coaster with two sides earlier this year. I asked if he worked with RMC on TC and he said yes! I talked to him for 5 minutes and he told me about working in both MA and CA. I finally asked him if he knew where he was working this winter. He said nothing was absolutely confirmed, but he did know he was working in California again ("this time in the north"). I asked him if he knew what park, he said he didn't know, but some other guys keep talking about a "Roar coaster or something". This basically confirms it you guys! I can't wait for the announcement at the end of August! What are the chances if meet a construction worker?!

VegasBaby
Had a great day at SFDK on Saturday. I was in NorCal for work, so I convinced a buddy to spend the 4th at the park with me. We got there around 9am for the Coke ERT and were some of the first people in the park. They only had certain areas open for the ERT, so we headed straight for Medusa and rode it 3 times without getting off. Medusa is just a fun coaster, love the airtime on first drop into the loop and the overall layout is great, I liked it better than Scream at SFMM. We then headed to Kong and it was only running one train (guess poor operations isn't just a SFMM thing). Luckily we walked on because of the ERT and rode it twice in a row. I enjoyed the layout and didn't have much head banging as I kept my head plastered to the headrest. Then we hit Cobra (meh, even for a family coaster) and Sky Screamer (twice) before heading over for the rope drop. At 10:30 we booked it straight over to Superman only to discover it wasn't open it. But it started testing a few minutes after we got in line and opened around 10:45. We were in the first train of the day, so we chose the back row and it didn't disappoint! The launches were fast and forceful and I loved the airtime when you pop over the top. The hangtime on the barrel roll was awesome as was the drop into the loop. We got back in line and rode it two more times before the park got too busy waiting about 20-25 minutes each time. We then made our way over to Roar and V2 since they were right there and ended up riding each of them about 5 times throughout the day. Roar was faster than it looked and had some decent airtime in the back (love the little bunny hill in the tunnel). V2 was a huge surprise for me, I really loved this coaster! I'd never ridden one of these Intamin Impulse coasters and it was a ton of fun. I rode in both the back and the front and actually prefer the front because you get more of the twist on the front spike. The wait was never too bad for V2 either, about a 3-4 train wait at most all day. We also rode Boomerang 1x, Tasmanian Devil 2x, Hammerhead 2x, and then Medusa and Sky Screamer again later in the evening. Voodoo and the Dare Devil loop were down all day, so we didn't get to ride them. We ate dinner at the lakeside pavilion dining area, which was a great spot to relax and take a break from rides. I though the park had a good selection of food options around the dining pavilion. I ended up getting the pulled pork sandwich plate and was pretty impressed with the quality of the food. It was around 8pm by this time, so I wanted to get a couple more rides on Superman before we left. We waited about 30 min and then got back in line only to have the ride break down. It was only down for about 15-20 min though and so many people left the line that we only waited about 35-40 min even with the breakdown. Superman was my primary reason for wanting to come to SFDK and every one of my 5 rides on it were awesome. The ride ops did a great job of getting people off and on the coaster and the dispatches were usually 1:15-1:30. We decided to hit Roar and V2 on our way out of the park, and were on the Roar lift hill just as the firework show started. It was pretty fun to be on a coaster and have fireworks lighting up the sky. We didn’t catch any of the animal shows, but some of the people I spoke to said the Dolphin show was really good. Overall, I had a great time at the park and if the Roar RMC rumors are true, I will have to bring my kids and make a return trip next summer. singemfrc
We then headed to Kong and it was only running one train (guess poor operations isn't just a SFMM thing). The orange train is in rehab right now, it's in the shop. SFDK is a year-round park now, so from time to time you will encounter this. Kong and Roar are the only major coasters that will run into one train operation when one of the trains is rehabbing. I was there the other day when it was running one train and that line still moves relatively quickly considering only one train. 3 switchbacks is usually only about 15 minutes or so. Thats good operations, not bad operations - Kong's ops usually do a pretty good job moving people through there quickly, and I've ridden Kong more than most people...I'm one of the few who loves it. I really cant recall ever seeing egregiously poor ops on any coaster at SFDK, and I'm always impressed without how fast the Superman crew is. I certainly can't say that about SFMM..they only place where they run one train and they still stack. (V2, Boomerang and Superman only have one train - when they rehab the ride closes completely. Medusa has 3 trains so it always has 2 running and 1 rehabbing unless there's an unscheduled problem.)
VegasBaby
I guess I should clarify my comment from my previous post. I was actually impressed with the ride ops during my visit and thought they did a great job of getting the trains dispatched quickly, especially the Superman crew. I just thought it was weird that they would only be running one train on a popular ride during one of the busiest weekends of the year.

It really is (literally) incredible. I've never waited more than a half hour for that ride, and I've only once seen the line reach the upper queue. Every time I go there it's clear that that crew is busting their behinds to be as efficient as possible. When the ride opened they were more strict about assigned seating, but nowadays as long as the line isn't long they'll almost always say yes to your row request and it doesn't hurt their capacity at all. There was a bit of a temporary lull right when the seat belts were installed mostly due to guests not listening to the spiel about not pulling down your lap bar (despite being beat over the head with it) and seat belts having to be rechecked, but it didn't take them long to recover. I noticed on my last visit that the lap bars now don't lock until after the seat belts have been checked, so if someone sits down and pulls their bar down, they no longer have to start the belt checks over. RAWKIN_coaster38
What's the deal with this? (7/8/15) According to the rumor mill something went wrong with the new Larson Superloop ride (Dare Devil Chaos Coaster) just installed at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom. As a result, Larson apparently sent the word out to all the other parks who have installed this model at other Six Flags theme parks, Elitch Gardens, Frontier City, Cliff's and Darien Lake to close their rides until further notice. Screamscape Does anyone know anything?

Screamscape Does anyone know anything? Dang. Nope, but I did hear that the SFDK one has been closed for a while. It was breaking down a lot when I was there the end of last month. I can tell you (since I was standing in the station while they were troubleshooting it with the mechanics) that the problem they were having then was with faulty sensors reporting restraints open that were really closed and locked. Mechanics had to keep coming out and basically just rebooting the ride. No idea if this is the same problem Screamscape reported though.
ALT2870
Here is my brief report from my visit on Thursday. The weather was overcast is drizzles here and there. The main goal was to get the missed credit on Roar after activating my dad's pass. Needless to say that goal was achieved. Maybe a shocker but it had the longest line of the day. We rode back row. It worried me a bit that it sounded liked a jackhammer but over all it was not that bad. It did get a tad worse as it went on but overall was pretty relentless until near the end. Afterwards we headed for Superman which was just about a walk on, grouper asked us if we wanted front or back and since we rode front last year, back it was. Despite riding it last year my dad still hates that barrel roll and started regretting it as we got going. Overall solid ride and the airtime is of course best in the back. On the way out we hit up the the bumper cars. Would appear that cars had been taken off since the last time which was nice and gave more power of course. Overall, a great day, minimal crowds too bad we couldn't stay longer. Medusa was a skip, never liked it the first time. Sounds like the loop was closed but we never went to that area. A nice surprise, but sounds like the last time we'll be on it. And always a great ride, shame Six Flags never copied it. The photogenic skyline.
