ThemeParkJunkie51290 Posted June 21, 2016 Share Posted June 21, 2016 Trip Report (June 18, 2016): This park has been on my "theme park bucket list" since it reopened back in 2014, and I figured 2016 was the year to go. Especially since the park added a new roller coaster for the 2016 season: Storm Chaser! It was perfect timing! Kentucky Kingdom was a great park, and I really enjoyed the atmosphere that it provided. Even though it was packed (it was expected because it was a Saturday with plenty of sun) I still managed to ride all the major coasters and thrill rides at the park which was a major win on my part considering lines were long. But thank goodness I work in retail so I'm a very patient individual. LOL. I highly recommend this park to anyone who haven't been yet. It's truly worth the trip! My 7hr drive from Alabama was well spent. You want be disappointed! *Roller Coasters: Lightning Run: OMG! This coaster was amazing from Point A to Point Z! That first drop, airtime hills, and the speed of this coaster was beyond anything I can have imagined in such a compact layout. We need to see more of these coasters! This coaster credit is a must! How do I rank it against Storm Chaser? Well . . . you'll find out soon enough. LOL. Roller Skater: Yes, it's a kiddie coaster. Yes, I rode it. And yes, I enjoyed it as well! T3: Well. . . how do I explain this coaster? . . . It wasn't bad . . . It wasn't good . . . A bit rough . . . It'll pass in my book. Thunder Run: Say what you want, but this coaster was smooth! Yes, smooth! It had moments of airtime that I wasn't expecting. It was a fun ride! Storm Chaser: WOW! WOW! WOW! RMC did an amazing job with this coaster and I mean AMAZING! That "barrel drop" was awesome! That first airtime hill was awesome! Matter-of-fact, this entire coaster was PURE AWESOME! This is definitely one coaster credit you must have on your list if you don't have anything else. YOU CAN'T MISS IT! How do I rank this against Lightning Run? . . . well . . . Storm Chaser comes first! Lightning Run is close second, but Storm Chaser takes the cake! STORM CHASER WILL BE FOREVER HIGH ON MY LIST! *Thrill Rides: Cyclos: Fun! Fun! FUN! FearFall: This was a surprising ride! No pause . . . no moment to gather your thoughts . . . no moment to breathe . . . ALL EXCITEMENT! Skycatcher: This ride was tucked away far in the back, and I didn't see why, but riding it I realized why: it provided some amazing views of the park, water park, and nearby airport. Giant Wheel: Sadly, I didn't get a chance to ride it. For some strange reason, I never been on a ferris wheel. Odd, but true. *Water Rides: Mile High Falls: Fun to watch, but I didn't want to get soaked. No thank you! Raging Rapids River Ride: No thank you once again. I didn't want to be drenched in water. No way! *Shows: 5-D Cinema (Angry Birds The Ride): Fun, and a great place to escape the heat. Only special effect working was the wind, but still fun to watch and experience. *Extra Attraction(s): Tin Lizzies: Nice relaxing drive! What more could you ask! HERE'S MY THEME PARK VLOG IF YOU WANT TO WATCH (I'M NOT THE BEST VLOGGER. LOL): . . . OR YOU COULD LOOK AT THE PICTURE INSTEAD. ENJOY! I'm here! I finally made it! I see you both back there! Storm Chaser! I'll see you later in the day! Look at me all happy and whatnot! So pretty! Nice eatery! Is that Lightning Run I see? I think it is . . . It has to be Lightning Run! Yes! That sudden drop at the top was amazing! Cyclos was truly fun! So nice! So lovely! Yep! I was right all along! LOL. The famous "swaying hill" on Lightning Run! The drop was "OMG" AWESOME! Such a fun ride! I see you trying to hide back there! I can see FearFall all over the park! I just had to take this picture for some reason. It's well known from what I heard. Who's the king of Kentucky Kingdom? I'm the king! A very relaxing ride. Some theming if you didn't know about it. Nope. Not Disney. What is that I see ahead? It's something marvelous! 5D Cinema? So there's 2D . . . 3D . . . 4D . . . and now 5D? I don't understand. LOL. Angry Birds: The Ride was fun. No special effects were working except for the wind, but it was still great! I feel like I'm in Wonderland. Just BEAUTY all over! This is a mandatory photo shot! If you come to Kentucky Kingdom, YOU MUST TAKE THIS PICTURE! No water park for me. T3 looking all BOLD and RED. I see you Thunder Run! So far, far away! Why would they put it back here? Oh! . . . It's because the views are breathtaking in this location! All the roller coasters and thrill ride I've been on in my life I never been on a ferris wheel. Is that weird? Into the woods I go! Great place to get out of the heat and eat! Oh! I just my a rhyme! Some more theming throughout the park. You can't hide from me! Yes, it's a kiddie coaster! And yes, I got that coaster credit! Such a lovely day! To be honest, this coaster wasn't rough at all! I found it to be very enjoyable! What is this building? So RED and DARING! So POWERFUL and BRAVE! Oh . . . that's what that building is! Inversion of some sort . . . Look at that lift hill! "T3: Roughness to the Third Power!" Ok . . . you have to admit . . . this looks GORGEOUS! Nope! No way! Not for me! YOU GET DRENCHED! I mean DRENCHED and SOAKING WET! Could it be! Could it actual be! YES! YES! YES! It's STORM CHASER! That barrel drop is WOW! The "SWEET MERCY! LET ME HOLD ON!" moment. The "PLEASE LET ME LIVE" moment. The "I HOPE I DON'T FALL OUT" moment. The "PLEASE DON'T STOP" moment. The "I NEED TO HOLD ON EXTRA TIGHT" moment. The "WHEE" moment! Such a fantastic roller coaster! Good-bye Storm Chaser! I give Kentucky Kingdom a thumbs up! Amazing how awesome it looks now compared to just three short years ago. I am so happy it has been restored to a great park again. I look forward to my visit this coming Friday. My previous visit, just 10 short years ago, it was almost sad, it was such a lackluster park. I'm not far away. I need to get back there... prozach626 Posted July 15, 2016 Share Posted July 15, 2016 I liked your pictures. You captured a lot more of the atmosphere of the park, instead of just taking closeups of coasters and rides.
