K1ngdaKa88
During easter I decided to go to Phantasialand, so I took the train from Switzerland to Bonn on Saturday. Instead of arriving at 4:42pm I arrived 3 hours later! Why? I'm gonna tell you... The train departed in Zürich on time and was that till after Freiburg. Somwhere between Freiburg and Baden-Baden, actually just about 3 miles away from Europapark, the train made an emergency brake! After a few minutes of waiting an announcement came, that there was an accident with people involved, probably someone jumped in front of the train! After TWO hours our train could continue it's journey, but didn't go any further than Karlsruhe, due the train was so late. And the next train to Bonn was then an hour later... Finally I arrived in Bonn where I met my friend Yannis, where I could sleep. We went to Phantasialand on Sunday and Monday and it was pretty empty! The longest line showed on the board was 25 minutes, which still wasn't really true. For example, on monday it said 15 minutes for Black Mamba, but it was a walk on! First I have my Video TR and then the Photos... [youtu_be] [/youtu_be] And I can already see Black Mamba! And waiting in Zürich for the train to depart Yay, my first time at Phantasialand Beautiful carousel And the Wellenflieger The main midway I wish I could ride it right now! CHIAPAS looks sooo beautiful Great mine train My 88th count! Why 88th? Look at my username Let's go over to the mystery area Sure, why not? What about riding some rides in the fantasy area? Ohhhh Wow, just wow But first let's check out the Klugheim construction Let's go over to Colorado Adventure It looks soooo great Waiting for the train Here it is Let's go to Black Mamba Wuze town Great B&M invert Me and Yannis with the chinese dragon called Wang Hi, I'm Yannis Black Mamba, Yay Weeeee And going underneath us And ending the day on the pedal boats is really chilly I really liked these two days at Phantasialand and I will probably go there again this summer! And Talocan looked great as well, but we didn't rode it And Raik's lifthill thru River Quest Edited August 24, 2016 by K1ngdaKa88

Henry M
I would like to visit this park, but is there anything else in the local area which is worth visiting, apart from the park itself?
DaveDowning
Well, there´s Cologne, which is worth a visit if only for the beer and the cathedral. Toverland is quite close as well as Movie Park Germany, if you want to see other parks.
jonskinny12
Great report! The pictures are great and this place looks so awesome. Talon is one of the coolest looking coasters I've seen in a while. Wish I was heading overseas that way sometime soon...
Masquerade
I don't think I've ever seen even partial sunlight in any pictures of Phantasialand until now. Aside from the permanent gloom, I want to go to there.
K1ngdaKa88
Talocan, probably the best themed Top Spin out there, but I haven't ridden it! (Ask my stomach why) [youtu_be] [/youtu_be]

Aside from the permanent gloom, I want to go to there. Huh? Gloom is the last word that would come to my mind when talking about Phantasialand. Plenty of sun to be had and of course areas in the shade as even in Germany it can get rather hot in the summertime.
better_by_design
Thanks for the trip report! I'm always amazed at just how good this park looks - seemingly out of nowhere (I mean, Koln isn't nowhere, but it isn't Paris, Orlando, LA, etc) there's a park with theming and design as nice as at least Universal? Is there some history to the park and it's ownership that has led to this general awesomeness?
CSLKennyNI
^ The park is 50 years old next year and still family owned! It was opened by Gottlieb Löffelhardt and Richard Schmidt. Loffelhardt's son still runs in today and his wife is in charge of the park shows I believe.
Nrthwnd
Europe has several of the most entertaining, imaginative, well themed, parks in the world. And it seems like a lot of them are still using the family's ownership. Like Disneyland used to be, when Walt was there at it's beginning. I love it. Phantasialand, Europa, and Efteling are just 3 parks I am so in love with, all because of families running the business.... and an awesome corporation (hi Mack!). Again, great photo TR! I especially love all the shots of Black Mamba. But then, that's easy ~ I love Black Mamba, too. Who (?) me and Jon ran into, at PhL. TPR 2010 Europe Tour. DaveDowning
Who (?) me and Jon ran into, at PhL. TPR 2010 Europe Tour. That..eh.."thing" is called Phenie. It´s one of the six dragons that each have their own themed area in Phantasialand. Phenie is the dragon of "Fantasy" where Winjas, Hollywood Tour (the best ride in the park) and the equally awesome "Würmling Express" (you guys have to ride it!) are located. Fun fact for english speakers: The Chinese dragon is called "Wang", which sounds totally normal in german.... As for Cologne vs. Orlando...well as I´m living in Cologne, I prefer Orlando - but thats because I go there for vacation. Cologne has a very good economy, it´s a well kept city, it has a rich history and if you like beer, you´ll love Cologne Plus, there are other awesome Parks nearby! Orlando, on the other hand, has Disney World, Universal, Fun Spot and it´s in Florida...
