Paying $15 for parking when the parking lot is poorly paved without trams. $10 for parking at Busch Gardens includes wonderfully paved parking lot with trams!

Parks that don't prepare themselves for ride downtimes. They do not have extra spare parts in their warehouse so they have to order it from manufacturers, which causes week-long downtime.

Suppose there are four seats per row. Row #2 have 2 people and row #3 have two people... why can't they just ride together to save someone else's time.

These ones are peeves I have as a kiddie ride op:

-Line jumpers. I have had parents get into fights with each other because I've been too busy making sure x kid doesn't misbehave on this ride to notice whether y kid or z kid was in line first.

-Parents who whine endlessly about why their kid should be able to ride when they're at least five inches above the maximum height restriction.

-Kids who stay by the entrance to your ride and bug you for two hours because they can't ride. (I do not exaggerate)

-Parents who want to ride on a ride that is obviously too small for them.

-Kennywood has a rule that does not allow parents to help their kids onto the rides (only the ones with a maximum height restriction). Even though I have some trouble understanding the logic of this rule, I still find it annoying when a parent whine on and on about the rule.

-Parents who do not let their children ride as a result of said rule. Why don't you just tell me you can't trust me? Quite an insult IMO.

-In the event that a child has a certain physical/mental disability the parent is sometimes given special permission (in the form of a small slip of paper issued by the front gate) to help the child board the ride. What I hate are parents that, seeing one of these events, automatically assume they are allowed to do the same when their child is perfectly fine.

-Parents who unlock the gates and walk their child in when you're on the other side of the ride helping kids on over there.

-Parents who can't wait for you to help the other 3 kids off the ride and either unlock the gate or climb the fence and retrieve the child themselves.

-If there are more people in line, you must load until either the line has gone or the ride is filled. Of course, people show up the moment you are about to start the ride, and then people complain that you are taking too long.

-Stupid people ("Does the kiddie Phantom go upside down?")

-Kids who walk around the entire length of the ride three times before finally settling on the seat that was right in front of the entrance.

-Parents who can't differentiate between the words minimum and maximum.

I will stop here because in spite of these and more I truly do enjoy working at the park, and with each point I add I sound more like a hypocrite.

-Screaming girls in the row in front

-Smokers smoking outside smoking areas (especially when they think they can get away with smoking in the queue line. You can have all the cancer you want, but don't share it with me. Please!)

-Bouncing basketballs

-Getting separated from a group- not the park's fault, but it happens when it's very crowded

-Slow operations

Slow or miserable looking ride ops

Cold/nasty food

Smokers smoking in line

Horse playing in line

Ride ops who push the restraints down to where you cant breathe

groups who stand in the middle of the walkway( blocking it)

Not running rides at full capacity when its necessary

^ How do you work at SFA if your only 15?

And this isnt one of my pet peeves but something I rather enjoy at parks and thought I'd share.

Going into a single rider line and sitting next to a complete stranger and they turn out to be really nice, and they start a conversation about the ride because they've never ridden before. Mostly this happens on Mummy, EE, Dr. Doom. and The Hulk.

Just thought I'd share that...

If you have a work permit, than parks will usually hire you.

Like me, I'm working in Oktoberfest games at BGE.

Park photographers who instantly pounce on you.

The price of those photographs.

Employees that show disrespect to me, just because I'm a teenager.

When the GP pretend to be know-it-alls in the que, when half of it is a load.

(ie: "Behemoth actually goes 135 KM/h, but they have to slow it down cause that's too fast.") Oh jeez, the general public.

People who smoke in non-designated areas (especially lines!)

People who cut past you in line 'because they have a friend saving them a spot." I swear, next time someone says this, I'm going to HAVE to tell them off.

I could go all day.

Smoking in line is just awful. Seriously, smoke before you get in line, and then wait until you're off, it isn't that hard!!

I hate people who don't follow instructions at all. i.e. when the ride ops are spieling "be sure and fasten your seat belt before pulling down on your lapbar" and then idiots just sit and pull down the lapbar, holding up the entire train.

I also don't like when there isn't enough food-staff during lunch and dinner times. Seriously, when you only have one window open at a food place, not utilizing the other 6 or so when there's a half-hour wait for a $15 meal, it's not acceptable!!

Fright Fest Mazes where they don't seperate you in groups... When you go through in one continuous line it just isn't worth it at all!

Yes yes and yes, all apply to me.

Also, the amount of mass-line jumping that goes on at a busy park drives me crazy

Hmm...how about people that insist on being idiots on the lift hill of a coaster? Once when I was riding SheiKra, this kid was screaming his butt off on the lift hill. (And no, he wasen't actually affraid of it.) Another example, unbuckling the seat belt and stopping the train.

-I hate getting to a park to find one or two of the better rides are closed.

-Crappy parents drive me nuts. Amusement parks are ideal places to have fun with your kids while teaching them safe and considerate behavior in public.

-Kids on leashes are a classic example of lazy parenting.

-Littering is bad, mmmkay? Gum does not belong on coaster supports!

-I hate how there's a smoking section right next to Big Thunder at DL, and the final lift hill with the caving sides is eternally hotboxed with 'backy smoke. Is it theming?? Nope, its cancer!

I feel so much better. Good thread.

Oh jeez, last time I visited CW, a mother was asking if she could hang onto her bratty kids leash on Swings of the Century.

Some people just have no common sense.

- When you get stuck riding a ride with someone who always tells you to shut up and be quiet. Its a coaster, not a library!

-When the announcements for a ride repeats. Yes I find it annoying!

-When you have to wait to ride a ride because of a kid either crying, too short, or to scared.

-People forcing there kid to ride a ride or a roller coaster. It ruins the fun for the little ones, right?

I did forget to mention this.

-When two people try to sit in the same car, like BLSC. Hogging up two seats!!!

-When Ride Ops don't re-open the gates, when the haven't locked the restraints.

-When one person wants the whole seat to himself.

-When people ask if they can cut you because their in a hurry or they want to sit next to someone.

-When your trying to get a picture and someone or a ride op, says keep the line moving when theirs no line.

-When your favorite rides are closed for a haunted house!

-A train filled with a bunch of screaming kids. I mean it Station to Final Brakes!

-People who complain after riding a coaster I love. I get this one a lot for hurler and FoF.

-Matthew

When the park opens at 10:00 AM... open the damn WHOLE park. Last time I went to BGE, I arrived at 10:00 AM exactly and wanting to walk over to Alpengeist only to find the back half of the park closed until 11:00 AM. Aggrevating!

BGE is an excellent park but this? Come on, seriously if the park opens at 10:00 means 10:00!

Edit: I just realized something. After reading the chinese trip reports, I'm so glad we don't live in China when rides opens at 1:00 PM or so.

I don't see the problem with that. Why staff a ride if it won't be busy until later in the day? Though, and hour after park opening seems a bit harsh...maybe 30 minutes after would be better.

^^ Avalanche at KD? That's another thing that annoys me. Why can't it open when the park opens? It has potential drawing some crowds from Volcano so... yeah.

^ BGE was already busy and the rope was already crowded waiting to open the rest of the park. And also they should have warned guests in advance so they wont waste their time and energy by walking up to the bridge only finding out they could have spent time riding Apollo's Chariot.

On Afterburn, Anyone who wears sandals, because about 95% of them dont realize that you have to take them off. Then right as the floor is dropping they are yelling at us ride ops to grab their shoes. Then we have to take off their shoes majorly slowing down our operations...

And then, everyone who descides to take their cell phone out to text while on the ride, because we have to stop the train and tell them to put their phone away in their pocket, once again slowing operations.

Or how about "Your attention please. Due to incliment weather conditions in the immediate area, normal operation of _______ has been suspended for safe reasons. We appologize for the inconvience...."

Not really a pet peeve, but weather delays suck. Lol.

Oh here's another one that is annoying!

-When people go cut there way through the lines with there big stuffed animals. The lines are very narrow normally.

-When people don't give you enough room in the line.

This one goes for everywhere!

-When someone walks out of a restroom without washing there hands or flushing. . . .. . . . .ew
