Park Pet Peeves

Recommended Posts

Basically everything that's been said above, but when I really think about it, the thing that hurts to see the most is Gum stuck all over supports and parts of the ride. Seeing such amazing creations that have taken hard work and dedication to create be disrespected like that just hits me hard .

My new no. 1 pet peeve is the "semi-line jumpers". The types of people who jump ahead to get to their friend; get to the back of the line! I also hate those people who, in line, breathe down the back of your neck and seem to try to cut in front of you every 5 minutes. It really makes the hours queue worse when I'm trying to block the path to keep my place in line.

Gosh I could go all day on this.

1. Basketballs I've been hit by them so many times in line it isn't funny.

2. Line hoppers im getting good at telling them to go to the back of the line, I simply tell them in a kind voice that there is a line and if they want to cut, e ill call down the security and get you escorted out.

3. People who scream on lift hills.

4. People who fight to get there 39 inch kid onto a 42 inch ride just drives me insane..

That's all for now but I have so many more.

People who crouch down and pretend to be too short to ride. HA HA HA SO FUNNY, no one has EVER done that before!

Not being allowed to wear glasses on rides.

Inconsistencies between parks, where something is ok at one park, but not allowed at another, You take your bags onto Rock 'n' Rollercoaster, I took my bag on Corkscrew at Alton Towers and the ride op, told me it'd fall out. So you can't even use common sense!

I've done that a few times, walking towards the entrance, I would squat and walk, joking saying "Oops, looks like I'm too short to ride!" However, I make sure nobody's coming right behind me as to not inconvenience them.

I've also seen inconstincies in the same park at the same ride. I had before where I would set my backpack and filled up cup at the railing before boarding CGA's log ride, followed by another visit where they told me I had to take everything onboard. Not a big deal but I find it a bit strange...Log ride soda challenge anyone? (luckily my cup has a secure lid so nothing flies out)

Aside from the stuff everyone's been discussing (line jumpers, gum walls, slow queues, etc.), I don't like people who incessantly make out/fondle/grope in line. If you're standing right next to them, it's hard not to look at them, but then you just feel weird and try to look anywhere but at them, and then it's just weird again.

^^ That happened to me at Wet N Wild in Orlando once...obviously since it was at a waterpark, it was slightly more discomforting - and I was like 12.

My biggest pet peeve of any park is when Worlds of Fun runs one train on each major coaster all day. Sure each ride may be a walk on if they ran 2 trains, but at least everyone is happier.

Sometimes there are safety issues involved with rerides not being allowed, keep that in mind.

We cant let people reride because of the G's on Titan..

That would explain the feeling me and my buds had after riding Goliath 6 times in a row during ERT

Biggest pet peeve? Probably slow operations/rides not operating to their full potential.

2. Parents fighting with ride ops to try and get their kid (who's to short to ride the ride they're at) on a ride. I feel sorry for the ride ops whenever this happens.

Ugh, don't get me started on this topic... needless to say, great parenting putting your kids in jeopardy by wanting them to ride a ride they can't ride safely... we don't set these height requirements just for fun.

I couldn't agree more!

I also can't stand when guests stand right in front of an entrance blocking it. Then when you politely ask them to move, they are really rude!

When someone spits all over the restraint. THAT IS NOT COOL. Come on people.

Had that happen to me on Iron Wolf, someone spit all over the restraint and seat belt, and the ride op gave me this shrug like, "Deal with it."

Never had have that happen to me but sounds horrible.

There was a booger on the Demon restraint in CGA. Though, it was in an area where I can avoid contact with it.

Cedar Point in the early nineties was the worst for making out I've ever seen, it was horrible.

My biggest Park Pet Peeve, is when someone behind me in line keeps running into me. Especially if they step on the back of my feet. I'll usually let it slide about twice before snapping. Also, when parents don't control their kids and they are constantly touching me and running into the back of me. Pay attention, and respect other peoples personal space!!!

My pet peeve is large groups who stop in the middle of a path to check a map, look at a cell-phone picture, etc. If you need to figure out where you're going, just step off to the side and let those who know where they're going pass through.

A key pet peeve of mine, as this mainly deals with Six Flags parks, is the consistent beating I receive from seeing some sort of advertisement every 10 feet in their parks. Yes, thats nice your sponsoring a coaster via hair gel/pomade placement or your ride is being powered by some candy bar/power company, but I really dont care.

Another major peeve, in particular with SFoT, is the quality of their concessions. Personally, i'd love to see better quality in their parks similar to what you see at Silver Dollar, Dollywood or other non-chain parks. I'd prefer a "big skillet sandwich/basket" meal than the same ol' greasy lip and a**hole meat hot dogs you receive from nearly every stand in the park. They have enough real estate in Texas/Boomtown to build it out and AC it throughout those long Texas summers, just get on it already...

This pet peeve of mine has just recently started. As I have been reading through some of the FB park pages it always gets me that people seem to have to post why they are not going to the park on a certain day.

You constantly get I love Cedar Point.......but can't go because such and such. This happens over and over, and honestly I just don't care. It seems that people are trying to make the things in their life important to others and that is why they are not going.

People who walk right on you as you're walking through the queue...almost as though you aren't moving fast enough for their liking. Next thing you know, they hop the railing and pass you up as your normal walking pace wasn't good enough for them.

People who don't move all the way down to the end when a Top Spin is loading all 40 riders. It then takes an attendant over the loudspeaker a few times to tell them to move all the way down to the end so others can get seated. I will admit though, on a light load (say about 5 riders per row) it's nice to spread out and have some arm room but on a busy day, that's not going to happen.

Also, people who take articles on the ride, get seated and locked in, only to have to be unlocked (unlocking the entire train depending on ride) so they can stash their goods. As of this season, my local park has been strictly enforcing the "Can't touch this" policy. That is, park employees are not allowed to handle guest items in any way...so no moving stuff to the bins from the train. Well, it technically isn't their job to move guest items to the bins, guests should be better prepared. I also believe the policy stems from the whole accusation of stolen items thing.

Which brings me to the last thing: people who point the finger at the park and its employees for their own mistake. A real life example was one who was blaming CGA for their 'shady, teen-age staff' for stealing their iPad from the storage bins. Honestly, an iPad doesn't belong in a theme park. The other real life example was one who got upset at SFDK as their "ever-so-brilliant son" lost their phone on V2 and landed on the nets. Later that evening the phone was no longer there. They were then upset at the park, assuming that they should have pretty much babysat that phone until closing so it can get retrieved. And in case guests forgot, the park is not responsible for lost or stolen items. Yes, I tried telling them that... No, it didn't work, I had better luck telling that to a brick wall.

Today, there was this little kid lined up in the station for the second row, and I was waiting for the first. When the train comes, he sneaks around and takes my seat. Mother who was queued in the original row just shrugged it off and did nothing.

Typical parenting these days... Yea, I hate when someone is in line for Row X but then skip on over to Row Z, or the people behind me slip on through the gate as well. I had that happen to me as I was putting my bag in the cubbies. When I got to my seat, someone was sitting there and the train was already filled up. I firmly told them that they took my row, then it took a few seconds for them to process what I said before finally getting up and go back through the airgates. And keep this in mind, these are adults. You would think they would have common sense.
