Mr Stratosphere
Hi Everyone!! So I just got back from an amazing week in Central Florida and a 4 night, 5 day voyage on board the Disney Dream. This was a crazy non-stop trip so below is a little recap of each day: 12/4 - Universal Orlando & Fun Spot America 12/5 - Universal Orlando & Solar Bears ECHL Hockey Game 12/6 - Busch Gardens Tampa / Disney Springs for Morimoto's and Boathouse 12/7 - Boarded the Disney Dream 12/8 - Nassau, Bahamas 12/9 - Castaway Cay, Bahamas (Disney's Private Island) 12/10 - Day at Sea 12/11 - Disembarked the Disney Dream / SeaWorld Orlando 12/12 - Walt Disney World 12/13 - Walt Disney World / back to reality (Vegas) I will explain more in the photo captions below, but it was a fun packed week in Florida! The Drury Inn, totally surprised by this hotel chain, definitely recommend it! Hello Orlando Eye, awesome view from my hotel room. I see you Fun Spot America! My first time back to the Universal Orlando Resort in quite some time! The iconic entrance to IOA Something is missing here... Looks like a creation right out of RCT, the only thing missing is trains launching and exploding upon impact! Jurassic Park and Hogwarts looming in the distance. BLARGH! The entrance to Hogsmeade, no one has ever taken this photo before! 20 minute wait works for me! It was quite a slow weekend at USO, we never waiting more than 20 minutes for anything this trip! The Sorting Hat Inside Hogwarts Express Platform 9 and 3/4 Diagon Alley Fire is always a good thing! Inside Gringotts Courtesy Ride! I honestly wasn't a huge fan of Rip Ride Rockit. MMMM Duff. The Three Broomsticks I love Jurassic Park, I do prefer Hollywood's version more! Still such a terrific dark ride! I find it better than Transformers. I did not ride this trip, I didn't feel like a face full of water... Still Ripsaw Falls is a great flume! Rode Jurassic Park quite a few times this night, a few times, the only person on board. That equaled light misting. Love the icon of Fun Spot America, the SkyCoaster has quite an impact on the evening sky. White Lightning is an awesome little coaster that packs quite the punch. Day two at USO, started this day at Universal Studios. Popeye! There is absolutely no staying dry on Ripsaw Falls Came to the Amway Center (Home of NBA's Orlando Magic) to watch an ECHL Orlando Solar Bears Hockey Game! Super nice venue for hockey! Teddy Bear Toss night for underprivileged kids. And the Home Team Wins!!! Stopped by NBC Sports Grill & Brew after the hockey game back at USO, the table was a foosball table! Great place, I recommend it! Off to Busch Gardens! Busch Gardens Tampa has one of the best coaster collections, not only in Florida, but in the country! Cheetah Hunt (we like to call it chunt) A great family coaster! Cheetah Hunt is very photogenic! Now, the main reason we are here. I was blown away by Falcon's Fury, it is such a blast! I hope to see more of these built! The sensation of plunging down at 90 degrees is exhilarating! Hi Derek! Bacon Pretzel and a beer!! Kumba, seriously one of the best B&M coasters around. Super smooth and very snappy transitions. This well paced coaster is still in my top ten! SheiKra is a great B&M Dive Coaster The iconic water splash effect! Happy riders on Kumba! One of the most photogenic coasters around! I will not come to Disney Springs without grabbing a bite at Morimoto Asia! This place is fantastic! I love me some sushi! And the Churros are not to be missed! On board the shuttle from MCO to Port Canaveral to meet up with the Disney Dream At first glance, the ship is beautiful! Some size comparison, Disney Dream is slightly smaller than the Voyager Class of ships on Royal Caribbean but larger than the Radiance Class. Model of the Disney Magic inside of the Disney Cruise Terminal Simple and effective logo! Our number was called to embark the vessel and we were welcomed aboard! The chandelier is one of the first things you see when you board the ship. I see you Tokyo Disney, Hong Kong Disney and Shanghai Disney! Admiral Donald While this is a Disney ship, the decor is very subtle and not as "In your face" as you would expect. It was very tastefully done! Our home for the next 4 nights! The Disney Dream has two funnels to represent the ships of the past, one is functional and one is a facade. The pool deck of the Disney Dream and the iconic AquaDuck water coaster. It was cold to start out the trip, didn't ride the AquaDuck until later in the voyage. Hello NASA (Kennedy Space Center) Royal Caribbean's Enchantment of the Seas was docked in Port Canaveral with us. I wish I was at Tokyo Disney!!! Soda was included in the price of the cruise fare on Disney. Frozen was playing on FunnelVision after we boarded. All the self serv soft serv you can eat! Remy, didn't go there this voyage, but I will want to in the future We had an internal cabin with a virtual porthole. I thought it was terrific! All of the nice little details strung all around the ship. Inside Remy, an Upcharge Restaurant Inside Pub 687 (It is named Pub 687 as the Disney Dream was the 687th ship built at the Meyer Werft shipyard) Lots of Beers on tap! Mr Stratosphere
Part two of photos! I will post more photos tomorrow! I hope you all are enjoying so far! Skyline, the backgrounds changed periodically to different city skylines around the world. The Key to the World card, used for Embarking / Disembarking, purchases and room key. While playing mini golf, I saw Pluto's collar. So I said DOG PILE! And look who joined the party.... DAN! The Christmas Tree lighting ceremony. Mickey and the Gang joined the party! Santa Goofy. The and Pirate night were the only times the ship felt remotely crowded. Hey ladies! Yes, even on Disney you will find Klassy cruisers... In a super nice bar in a pool towel... Monday night = Monday Night Football on Funnel Vision! The atrium mid-ship is absolutely beautiful! Characters would periodically show up on the virtual portal, a very nice touch! We woke up the next morning with the Disney Wonder backing into port. The first breakfast of the trip, and the food is delicious! The Nassau Atlantis Resort, it was rainy all day so we didn't leave the port area. There were 5 ships in port this day. Klassy Kruise. Majesty of the Seas, Disney Wonder, Disney Dream, Carnival Sensation and Carnival Fantasy were in port. Our beer castle was bigger than Disneyland's! Royal Caribbean's Majesty of the Seas was here, she will soon go into Dry Dock for retrofit, she was going to be retired, but is now going to stay with the Royal Caribbean fleet of ships. AquaDuck travels beyond the side of the Disney Dream 12 deck up! Derek: "Wow, that's a big boat!" Both Carnival ships at some point spewed out black smoke, I didn't see Disney or Royal do that at all! Carnival's Klassy Backup Generators strapped to the back of their ships. So long Disney Wonder! Half of Disney's fleet in one port! We watched Inside Out inside the movie theater on board. I love the idea of this restaurant. But on the Dream it featured Turtle Talk with Crush. There were these awesome interactive paintings on board, they also worked with the Midship Detective Agency virtual scavenger hunt on board. The lamp in our stateroom reminded us daily of Tokyo Disney... The Disney Dream docked at Disney's Castaway Cay The adults only area (18 and over) was a super nice quiet retreat on the island! I will be sure to post more photos tomorrow!
DoinItForTheFame
So many amazing photos!! Really making me want to book a Disney Dream cruise!!! Can't wait for more of the Trip Report! Also, I find it weird that two Disney ships were at the same port at the same time. I thought Disney took great care to make sure that never happened. . . Or at least they use to. PKI Jizzman
Wow. The Carnival ships spewing out all that black smoke is absolutely disgusting. I don't think I've ever seen a cruise ship putting out smoke like that. I would never sign up for a Carnival cruise! Blegh. Thanks for the photos, John! Looks like a great time. -Zach
viking86
Great trip report so far! Like the posters above I would love to go on a Disney cruise. I also have to say that I love the color scheme on the Disney cruise ships, they looks really beautiful! (was also great to see one of their ships with my own eyes when Disney Magic came to town earlier this year)

Mr Stratosphere
Part 3!! The last part of the cruise and SeaWorld Orlando! Next up will be some photos from Walt Disney World towards the end of the trip. The final photo posting will be of all of the FOOD from the cruise! Enjoy! After a beautiful day at Castaway Cay, it was time to head back to the ship. The ship is extremely photogenic, love the AquaDuck! A look at the family beaches of Castaway Cay Sailing into the sunset for Pirate Night and a day at sea the next day. The Walt Disney Theatre, while we didn't catch any of the shows, we did catch a screening of The Good Dinosaur. Lovely little touches everywhere! Pirate Dinner, napkins were in the shape of a pirate ship! Food posting will be posted in a later update! Jack Sparrow has boarded the Disney Dream! A shot of the on-board fireworks, they are launched off of the Port Side of the ship. I will post a video in a later update as well! One of the pyro launching sites. The Buena Vista Theater (Mainly used for movie screenings) Amazing the size of the theater, and it has an awesome Dolby sound system. I missed winning a $2,800.00 cash prize because of 69.... Decided on a last minute trip to SeaWorld Orlando. First time back to this park since before Manta Opened I do have to say that Manta is one of my favorite B&M Flyers. It was just a lot of fun! Also, I was the only person on my Journey to Atlantis boat, so I only got a light misting. Definitely the best version of the ride. Kraken is also a very good B&M Floorless SHAMU! And also decided to head back to Disney Springs for a drink at the Hangar Bar One thing that we did at Castaway Cay was snorkel. Was a lot of fun seeing an old WDW 2000 Leagues Under the Sea ride vehicle turned into an artificial reef. This castle is still bigger than Disneyland's Dan, Derek and I had a super fun time on board the Disney Dream, while Royal Caribbean is still my favorite, I would still sail Disney again! WendyGirl1979
Great TR! Seeing the 20K boat, so cool. We docked next to the Dream in November-that's a lot of ship! Made our look a lil puny, lol.
