thrillrider Posted December 14, 2015 Share Posted December 14, 2015 This weekend I had the chance to get a behind the scenes look at all the work that is going on at Waldameer park. I was able to snag some great behind the scenes shots of the new waterpark expansion, maintainance shop, and many other areas of the park. I was even able to walk part of the ravine flyer 3's track. I am not very good at writing long trip reports, so I let the pictures do the talking. The park looks very different in the winter Not much of the rides remain in the winter, as they are stripped down to the bones to do annual maintinance. The weather was very warm for December. Warm enough to ride the log ride. The park is storing the stuffed animals in the ballroom for the winter. No tilting today. The flying carpet ride gets shrink wrapped in the off season. Lots of ride parts are stored in the arcade. Look for a few changes to the arcade this coming season by the way. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Parts were stacked everywhere in here. Even the parks statues are brought in. In the winter, the bumper car building is boxed in and used as a storage area for rides. This set shows the waterpark progress, and some more random park photos. this is just one of the 3 huge water filters for the wave pool. You can see some of the filter in this little window. This is the wave making room. This had something to do with the air flow. I believe there were 8 of these air blower machines. Random waterpark stuff There was lots of work going on in the waterpark. They are currently in phase 2 of 3. Back inside the ride park, here is the merry go round all bundled up for winter The wipeout The spider Paratrooper The vortex The steel dragon coaster The wacky shack Pirates cove The comet In the next update, there will be lots of pictures from the maintinance shop and...... This looked like a car from the comet coaster I believe this is from the kiddy coaster. Anybody know? This is a sprocket for the ravine flyer Nerd shot Steel dragon car Tile a whirl Random coaster parts Parts for the skyride Even the fencing gets attention And now we were treated to a tour of the ravine flyer 2 Ever wonder what it looked like under the station? Track They even have heaters under the station for the coaster wheels. I dont think I have ever seen another coaster with built in heaters before. Extra parts This is the maintnance bay Track to lift Twisty This is what the coaster wheel will see Me and my wife It looks like a lot of wood was replaced in random sections of the coaster On our way back to Michigan, we stopped by cedar point for dinner here. I tried to get a few shots of valravin but.... It was very dark and foggy But the dinner was great! Great restaurant.... What these parks do during the winter time is always fascinating. From an earlier post on another thread, I wrote that they should have a program that shows what these parks do when they close down for the winter and when they are building another attraction.
