IAAPA 2015 Live Coverage!

Recommended Posts

I think Saw-The Ride would be better with train design like that!

It took me a while to realize that it actually WASN'T a Saw films branded car

EDIT: T-Rex and Raptor track looks amazing; is there any estimated timeframe yet for when they will be announcing their first installation?

You guys have been churning out the most updates from IAAPA, so a big thank you from me for doing so! I'd do almost anything to be able to attend the event, but alas, education demands my attention... Nevertheless, I get to live it via Twitter!

I saw a post online that Fun Spot had VR headsets on the Freedom Flyer during an IAAPA event, did anyone here happen to have a chance to experience that? I've read some reviews of that technology on the two Mack powered coasters at Europa and Canada's Wonderland but was curious what the experience on Freedom Flyer was like.

^^RMC alpine coaster anyone??

I must say I love the wooden coaster models at the MVR booth. The video showcasing their wooden coasters in China was also fantastic, not only do the coasters look great, but it was also extremely well edited.

Guys, I realize there is a lot of different IAAPA coverage out there, and we would really appreciate it if you could focus your comments on the coverage that TPR is doing on the TPR forums. We get that other outlets might have different coverage, and that's a conversation that should take place on THEIR discussion forums, not ours. I wouldn't go on another forum and say "TPR covered this, why didn't you?" because that's rude to your host.

We have been busting our ass for two days trying to get as much coverage as we can. Please don't reference other sites coverage on TPR. Thank you.

Disney has this available at a majority of their attractions so I wouldn't really consider this revolutionary necessarily but it is a nice thing to be able to offer guests with disabilities. Good for PTC and HW for making the effort to make this available to their guests.

Thanks to Robb and the TPR folks for providing this extensive coverage!

Some thoughts about what I have seen so far...

* I agree with Chuck when he said that Cobra's Curse might be the "sleeper hit" of next season - this design just looks incredible.

* Lightning Rod - words cannot even describe what I think about when I envision a night ride on this coaster. It's like Boulder Dash and The Beast had crazy sex and this is their new love baby.

* Love the new look of the PTC trains. I wonder which current coasters might receive these?

* Spinning Blue Fire? I can't even begin to imagine how crazy awesome that would be. I mean, EuroMir was cool enough...but this? This is just downright sick.

* Pro Slide - they just keep coming up with more and more awesome looking water rides.

* The Walking Dead - can't say that I watch the show, but a dark ride about shooting zombies sounds like something that I could get into.

* Is that the model for Skyhawk at CW that I see? I think that's another ride that will prove to be a "sleeper hit" in the flat ride department. Looks insane.

* T-Rex track - can't wait to see one of these built. I will travel to wherever the hell it is built just to ride it. I don't care where it is...because we all know that it's going to kick total ass.

* A little surprised that Huss would show a Topple Tower in their ride collection. Is the one pictured at the stand the last operating one in the world?

Tons more to be said here, but this is what has piqued my interest at IAAPA thus far...thanks again for sharing!

I dig the new PTC trains! They actually don't look too different from the original articulated 2-seaters they had a few years ago. The only really new thing is the addition of the zero car. I imagine these trains might work really well on rides like Voyage or Ravine Flyer 2 that have more fluid, twisty track layouts compared to CCI coasters and other older designs that are more traditional. The first time PTC tried a trailered design (the late 80s on Dinn woodies), they didn't work well at all (anyone remember the story where a Texas Giant train coupler sheared off during its opening year?), but those had two rows per car and put too much strain on the axles with the extra weight. These new PTC trains would probably behave more like Millennium Flyers as far as overall track abuse is concerned.

It's also fun to see PTC try their hand at designing themed zero cars!

EDIT: Also I found a video on another website's youtube page that showed PTC's video from the announcement. Apparently these trains were tested on Hades 360 and Twister at Knoebels, and they looked really cool from what I saw!
