Pins & Refrigerator Magnets

 

But first, here's a look at what I got in past DLPR (mainly) visits.

All on one lanyard. Also here is a shot of some of the magnets I've

collected in past trips. With one new one, added to this section.

 

These were collected between 2002 and 2007.

Bottom two include the Studios. And Indy was moving Backwards! Badly!

A 2005 pin, bought in 2004. Faeries that looked almost Anime' to me.

And here's Stitch & Lilo in their own Personal Rocket ship!

Mostly Disney park/resort pins here. I do like the newest one. I mean, everybody's in it! (o;

So now that I've shown "the old stuff" here's the

Pins & Magnets from this recent trip.

 

Also, in all the past trips I've made to DLP, the total number of pins in all those trips,

amounted to half of the pins I bought on this trip, I found out. There are a few

favourites in the bunch. Here's The List of all of them:

There was also the question of how to bag all these pins, as Paris didn't have the pin bags like

Tokyo Disney did/does. So I improvised and found a makeup bag (I guessed) that would double

as my 2015 Pins Bag. And...it worked!

 

I didn't get very many magnets on this trip. And strangely, the majority of them were bought in

either Amsterdam, or Paris itself. Only one was bought in Disney Paris.

 

Here's everything...

Most of my Paris and Amsterdam pins ended up on my travel bag.

Here they are, off the bag. The three flowered pins are a set from the gallery that was showing the

Monet LILYS Murals in Paris; the Thrills pin came from Walibi Holland (no pins at all, with the "WH"

logo or lettering on them ); Eiffel pins; a generic Dungeons pin, from Amsterdam.

All of the Disney Paris-bought pins.

Baymax was a surprise find; so was the french spelled version of Inside/Out; and Slinky with an actual spring on him!

I really like the Hotels pin; and Rock'n Roller still RAWKS!

And the minions here, have claimed Vice-Versa as their own. And Rubber Soul. And a water globe.

(And something small, orange and fuzzy.)

All the refrigerator magnets we collected. Strangely, only one from DLPR. Hmmm.

Up in the middle of the freezer door. David loves lightning storms. Guess which one HE picked out? (o;

Worth mentioning again... (...or "Oooo La La! Yogurt never had it so good!")

 

This is going back to when we spent 5 nights in the city of Paris.

I am always on the lookout (since my first Amsterdam finds) for

glassware that holds individual portions of food, like creme brulee'

or yogurt.

 

You get to eat the food AND you get a nice little glass 'thing' for use

in cooking (spices) and such. Great cheap souvenirs!

 

In Paris on this trip, I found a yogurt, but not only was it in a more

'permanent' container, it was in terra cotta with an enamel over it all!

 

I was shocked. And bought the pair of them (they usually sell these

in pairs) immediately! And brought them home.

It was actually very nice yogurt in it, too!

Back home, where the others sit. All from Amsterdam.

New Kids in The Bunch. They later got used for other stuff (i.e. holding brushes).

Souvenir Foods! (there's not much, sadly)

 

Some times on a trip, I will watch out for different or unusual foodstuffs that I can

 

a) Eat immediately and then save the cool packaging, or

b) Bring it all back home and enjoy... later on.

 

And for that, I found only two such things, that made me want to buy them and

bring them back with me. One was chocolate. The other was.....Nutella.

Now what's better than good old chocolate with Nutella?

The 'single' bar was actually two chocolate bars, bought at DLP.

This mini-Nutella I found at the CDG airport the day we were leaving. And here's where it

ended up at home. Among the larger containers on the shelf. Eventually, I'll get to it...

Souvenirs - Other Stuff I Bought...Part 1

 

The rest of the souvenirs haul was a pretty mixed bag, as you'll soon see. Not that there's anything wrong with that, heh.

There's a few more pieces that are just meant to sit and gather dust; pairs of things David and I seemed to buy, in our

fave two colours; a Rat with "Rattitude"; something watery and something vinyl...y.

 

A mixed bag, indeed. Enjoy what's here....

Two birds for the Solstice Tree. We picked them up separately, so we both thought alike.

Seriously unheard of, for us! (o; btw, I like red, David likes purple.

Where we found our birds, In Amsterdam.

A pair, bought from the Seqouia Lodge GIft Shop during our DLPR stay. I figured he'd be the

wreath and I'd be the candy cane. No idea why. Just a hunch. (o;

Two pillow covers, yet to have pillows to fill them! Really nice looking ones. We picked them up,

at one of the outdoor markets they had near a church in Amsterdam. Lots of things.

Here a definite bunch of stuff. And first off, the yellow mermaid was 'won' at the

Paris Carnival I went to. It has since been given to charity.

A pegsus; a blue porcelain cat; three 'bobber' things.

A water globe from WDS' Place de Remy; A rainbow Vinylmation bought at the Village's World of Disney.

Where the Rainbow Vinylmation ended up. With other vinylmations I've collected. And my neato

Disney Sea Aquatopia candy dish is there, on the right!

Where my waterglobe is now. Where I can always see it.

And shake it/them up, from time to time (o:

The Rat. From Dungeons of Amsterdam. When clicked 'on' it basically bounces and

repeats everything you say to it. It gets annoying, but you can be creative with it,

the way you use your voice, and timing etc.

Where oh where did I put it?

There oh there is where I put it!

And when the going gets tough - the tough gets FONDUE!

Souvenirs - Other Stuff I Bought...Part 2

 

"No Ears Here" ~ Sadly, I found out on this trip that DLP has become another Disney Resort to not be selling

Ears Caps any more, like Japan is doing now. Like Tokyo DL, lots of headbands with ears on them and oversize

themed hats (for the Goofy in all of us, etc.) But no caps any more. Oh well, up to our last visit in 2007, they were

selling them then, and I always picked one up. For now, a mini-Sorcerer's Apprentice hat with ears attached.

 

Coins picked up from machines in Disney Village; a neat looking wood maple leaf non-working clock I bought at an Amsterdam

open market; Ears from Walibi Holland; Pens from DLPR; a toy 'ride' from Amsterdam; and David got another Eiffel Tower.

 

And four t-shirts bought, the majority of them (naturally) bought at Disney.

describe it, but it's all electronic burps and tweets and fun to play around with, voice wise.

I used it during Last Halloween, and most of the kids were very impressed. But then,

most of them also thought it was from Star Wars.

Souvenirs ~ A Few Good Things, left...Part 3

 

The last of the bunch is a few things we like to repeat-buy, if we can on other visits. Cats (because we are cat guys),

and interesting stuff from Amsterdam, like this "Same Sex Kiss" we found, at a Christmas Store, truth! And....

another bear. From Paris! Mais Oui! There it is!

Last but not least...

Interesting fridge magnet of some well know Art CAT (there's a classic Paris poster with the cat on it)

that also doubles as a stand-up with it's liitle metal thing. (o: It's in the window now with The Clowder of...

Remember this place? Opposite the Amsterdam Flower market. Only place we could buy "Same Sex Kiss". Male or Female.

The Last Word(s)...

 

Well, this is the end, my friends. The end of a really great two week trip, that we probably should have done a few years earlier. No matter.

Everything that was planned ahead, worked out great. Save for an "event" with our flat keys in Paris (see page 5), everything else went well.

 

Why, I even got myself two extra credits I hadn't planned for, at that carnival I found, from high up in the Eiffel Tower.

 

Five nights in each part (3) of the trip worked fine for us. Enough time to enjoy where we were, without including travel days, etc. And I would

definitely stay at the Sequoia Lodge again, at Disney Paris Resort, easy! Great location, easy access to the Village and the Parks, the

room, the bar, the gift shop, the Hunters Grill...c'est manifique!

 

So, I guess we're not going to spend as long planning for another visit to Amsterdam and Paris/Disney.

Maybe a few years in time, instead of several years apart, like last time.

We didn't buy this overseas, but rather just a few days after we got back, and went food shopping.

I got misty when I saw it, wanting to go back there to Paris now, so I bought the pillow! (o:

Better than an old castle shot I'd say, lol! Me and David in our trusty Aries Spaceship. "To Infinity, And Beyond!"

We're both Aries, and who knew that (almost) 44 years later, we haven't vaporized each other yet?!!

From the "Something I Am Curious About" Dept....

 

I just read about The Eiffel Tower and it's relation to the original Ferris Wheel,

which debuted at the Chicago World's Fair in 1863. Eiffel built his tower in actual

engineering defiance of what Ferris had created. Thus, The Eiffel Tower came to be,

in March 1899.

 

Apparently, the French later recreated one of Ferris' actual first wheels, and it was working

right beside the Tower for many years. Gone now, sadly.

 

But - every time, for over 13 years now, our visits to Paris have always included a trip up

The Tower, but there has also been this Merry-Go-Round nearby, usually to the left of

your ground view of The Trocaderos. Always there. Never gone away.

Does anybody know the history of this little flat ride? It's a two-tiered one which is rare,

all by itself. And very ornate, all over it. I took a photo, but I've never really gone up

close to it, to inspect it further. Next visit, I shall repair this oversight.

The First Ferris Wheel ~ 1863 ~ Chicago World's Exposition

I was just reminded, by Andy's TR of visiting the Netherlands recently, how important the canals of Amsterdam really are. And the last day David and I were there in 2015, I caught this wonderful way to express one's love of another. In this case, two women on a 'cruise' of sorts...with a great punchline. And she said YES!

We're heading back in 2022 ~ which makes me wonder if we can find the couple (hoping they're still together), and present them with these photos, in print. For their 7th Anniversary. Happy Love Month Everybody!

And on September 13th, 2015...

...This happened. And....she said yes! (o: And we hope they're still together, for their 5th Anny.

Also noted, a police boat ticketing another...uh....boat. Didn't know why. Might have something to do with license to operate, etc.
